As a collector of 27 years thoroughly enjoy your video’s. I always pick up some additional knowledge. Last night I picked up a couple of new manufactures names that I definitely will be checking out. Thank You Dave for what you do and how well you do it. I know it takes a colossal amount of dedicated time and effort and is of great value to both new and old collectors of the pen community. I’m impressed and grateful. Best Always!!

Some very interesting pens. As someone who likes to carry a pen in my shirt pocket I wish more of the pen makers would include a clip.

This is the best video you have ever done. I loved all the new and unique designs. I, too, yawn at most of the look-alike pens most independent pen makers crank out. I have a Kilk and 18111, but the rest were new for me and had me excited. Thank you.

Another great review, David. There are an amazing number of smaller artisan makers now, nationally and internationally. Without big company, big bucks advertising behind them it can be difficult to know they exist. Your interest in different and unique pens helps to get the word out. You mentioned Instagram, and it's a great way to tap into many of these smaller artisan makers and see examples of their incredible work. And of course major pen shows are an excellent way to discover some of these artisans, with the added benefit of being able to see and hold their pens in your hand, and the pleasure of conversing with them as well.

Wow! Now THAT was fun!! One point I'd add for your viewers is the importance of acting quickly and then being patient! I so wanted one of those Monty Winnfield Highwater but alas I was too slow.

For the Icon, if you want a wider grip section, you should try out their Grooved Grip. The very narrow section was an issue for me initially, but I love it much more now that I have swapped it with their Grooved Grip which is wider and less tapered.

Thank you, Dave, for this awesome shoutout to smaller makers. I’m very happy to have some of your lineup in my collection as well. Kasamah I’ve sold, because the (titanium) section was too heavy for me. I’m very happy with my Ryan Krusac Legend16 in Ebony with labradorite finials, such great work and craftsmanship! Michal… I own several of his pens and that’s an absolute joy! Since a few days I own a Gravitas as well, still have to get used to the metal section, but it is absolutely growing on me; great value for money! Thank you for your great work for all of us! 🙏

There are some very unique pens there but in order to get them you have to go to pen shows or know of the artisan manufacturers and how to contact them. It takes a lot of time and specialised knowledge. Annual pen shows I wanted to go to have been cancelled because of Covid. Some of these pen makers also seem to have to cease making pens for a number of reasons. I like the wooden pens and those like the Lamy 2000 that have a simple, rugged finish. Some of the acrylics like the Monteverde Sequoia are very nice pens.

I have Gravitas pens (copper) on my wish list! I am trying to buy "made in the USA" right now, so my favorite is Karas Pen Co, because they are right here in Arizona! I have the heavy, all copper INK you reviewed awhile back! I also have an Edison and a Birmingham pen. I even have some kit pens from Etsy sellers. I just love having a wide variety of pens in not only price ranges, but also materials.

What's really interesting about the fountain pen world is that people from many backgrounds can start producing their own pen bodies and use Jowo/Bock nib units to create absolutely brilliant writing instruments using unique materials and manufacturing processes. In many other fields the barrier for entry into a business like this can be incredibly high, so no individual can get in on their own, but here we seem to have a lot of room for creative people to express themselves.
