I got into metal through Nu metal and although I don't listen to any of it now, I can't bring myself to hate bands like Korn or System Of A Down. I always though Deftones were garbage though

Same, I don’t listened to them anymore but I don’t think that they are trash, Korn gives me early 2000 nostalgia and are fun to listen to. Soad is still a really great band in general. There are some band I listened to at the time that now I find extremely cringe like Disturbed

I never heard of most of these bands you listed. But back in my high school years, Marilyn manson use to be the hottest selling music in hot topic. Now and days people like me just moved on and found better taste in metal. I moved on to european metal like helloween, blind guardian, children of bodom, gamma ray, and the list goes on and on.

Hard disagree on Manson. I love his work, even at his worst (High End Of Low imo). Considering US and Scandinavia have massive cultural differences, you have to give him credit for actually triggering a lot of fundamentalists, he was scapegoated for a lot of stuff during the 90s and the Columbine thing. Musically speaking, Antichrist Superstar is a masterpiece, everyone needs to listen to it.

I could list all the Metal Core bands as I don't like the genre. Doesn't make sense. So I went for some bands, where I like the genre, but don't like the band. Ghost - I love 70s hard rock, but I don't get Ghost. Terrible stuff. QOTSA/Kyuss - Love Doom and Stoner rock, don't get these two bands. Saw them live, was boring as hell. Sabaton - Power Metal is great, but singalong songs about war and battles? No way. I'd rather listen to Helloween first and then to some 1914. Mayhem - Oooh, we are so evil, so we don't need to write proper songs. No thanks. I'd rather listen to Enslaved or Windir. Symphony X - Love Dream Theater, hate S X. Those cheesy keyboards? Come on! Disturbed - Love Korn or SOAD, but Disturbed suck.David has an annoying voice, but thinks he can sing. This is why he made this cheesy cover of Sound of Silence. Absolute sacrilege.

@@Rafael-kr6zv Worse than that: it's bland, mediocre and regurgitated. Some bands' albums sort of grow one from another and that turns out mostly great (I'd say Tsjuder is a great example of that), but Nergal is basically up to stamping movie/elevator music at this point

@@Rafael-kr6zv Behemoth was what got me into heavy music and beyond around 16 years ago, I truly cannot even guesstimate the amount of times I've listened to each of their records. I would still say, now that my bias and maximalism is gone, not everything made was "good" per se (Satanica isn't their strongest record, though I absolutely love 'The alchemist dream' and 'LAM'. Two following albums had questionable execution too). Early behemoth up to Pandemonic Incantations I find rather authentic within the scene and interesting, loving it to bits still. In music, finding objectivity can be (and is for the most part ) a rhetorical task, however we can more or less safety assume that the period of early to late 2000 (Particularly Demigod and Apostasy) was where Nergal's musicianship excelled and has indeed set a very high standard. Satanist was perhaps the most vivid comeback in the extreme music scene, this time around not owing it solely to successful marketing. The album was good. We are all human, we grow old, change, excrete and wither away. I'm guessing age and all the experiences, business deeds as well as vicious attempts to display juvenility plagued Nergal's ability to create art whilst preserving crucial integrity and, if you will, behemoth's leitmotif. But oh well. As Petrus would have it, "Everything dies"

Even mediocre bands like Graveland and Goatmoon can at least keep you interested enough to listen to a full album, even if it never lives up to the hype. Never been able to listen to more than a few minutes of Gay Barry's Keychain without turning off. Doesn't even sound like black metal. Shit band, shit artwork (seriously, how do you even manage to make jesus in corpsepaint look so fucking lame?!), shit song titles, shit band members, shit riffs, shit vocals
