@MysteriumArcanum4 жыл бұрын
@@vikingjoebloggs3887 well, most of the time depending on the attraction the theme of the haunt changes and in some cases like where I work there are several haunted houses each with a different theme. One of my favorite experiences was when I had just started out, it was the second week of my first year (I've been doing this for almost nine years) and I was in a zombie themed haunt. A group had sent someone ahead as a scout so at first I was just sitting there moaning and growling but not really doing much else; so the guy goes back to his group and I take that moment to quickly hide behind a curtain draped on the side of a hospital bed that was in the room. So when I saw their shadows and heard their voices I pulled back the curtain and and screamed and groaned at them at the top of my lungs all while lunging and swiping at them. (All while making sure not to touch them as that could get me in trouble) and I swear they just about jumped out of their skins as they bolted out of the room.

I’m glad I got to ride The Great Movie Ride nearly a decade ago when my family went on vacation to Disney World for the first time. I remember before getting to ride the ride physically, I always watched videos of the ride through on KZbin. And part of my excitement of going to Disney World was my chance to finally ride The Great Movie Ride, and I was really happy when I finally got to ride it for real and see all the different movies and animatronics of actors from the Golden Age of Hollywood like Humphrey Bogart, James Cagney, Gene Kelly, and John Wayne for myself. The fact that it’s now closed for Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway makes me glad I got to live my dream of riding it. I also rode another extinct Hollywood Studios attraction, The Backlot Studio Tour. But I have seen videos of the new ride Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, and while not a classic as the ride it replaced, I do applaud the Imagineers work and technology they used in recreating the look and feel of the Mickey Mouse cartoons and giving guests a similar immersive feeling as being in Mickey Mouse’s world as I and many guests had felt immersed in the world of the movies.

A good effect that they didn’t mention was the early version of Kilimanjaro safaris. One of the main parts of the early version involved a family of elephants called Big Red and Little Red, and how they are being hunted by poachers. The rest of the ride would be peaceful, until you encounter the carcass of Big red, leading to a climatic chase between the poacher’s Jeep, shooting at your vehicle, until seeing a motherless animatronic Little Red. This effect was met with negative reviews seeing that the elephant corpse was too dark for a Disney Ride, having being removed after the previews. Until 2012, the last remaining effects from the original version were the animatronic Little red, and the poacher’s camp, now replaced by a zebra exhibit.

2 DECADES TO FIX A YETI? OH HELL NAH
@AJ17_4 жыл бұрын
Well, the Yeti is attached to a slab of concrete that's part of the foundation to the mountain itself. They turned the swiping effect off because it it was so forceful, it put stress on the infrastructure of the mountain and keeping it on could've cause a lot more problems, like the possibility of the mountain collapsing. They would have to basically take the mountain apart to fix the Yeti and then put it all back together again. A project like that could probably take years and a lot of money.

The Yeti does work, and would still work....but its the structure that let's it down. Strains on the frame work around the yeti makes it dangerous to operate, that's why it runs in B mode. They can't fix it as it would mean stripping the entire mountain down to fix the structure around the yeti, and that would take months or even years of down time. Expedition Everest is one of the most ridden rides in the park and is a fan favourite, so the extensive down time of the ride isn't disneys highest priority cause the ride does work. I do hope they fix the Yeti cause it is an awesome animatronic and would be awesome to see it running again, but I don't see it happening for a good few years.

@areynaschmidt24973 жыл бұрын
The reasons behind the Dinosaur defunct effects are kind of a bummer/result of poor planning. The pterodactyl track/swoop effect was built over a section of track that has a fairly steep decline. The unfortunate reality in maintaining this effect is that its physically impossible to park a boom lift normally used to fix that sort of overhead animation on that steep of an angle. I was told that the "chickens on sticks" in the next scene were eventually left to be non-functional due to the steel company who manufactured the "spider" mechanism going out of business, thus not being able to provide parts to fix the structure when it inevitably broke. The Croc's body, on the other hand, was never built to function. The head is the only part of that figure that moves, being controlled by a robotic arm which is mounted on a moveable sled that can detach from the body. (The rest of the body is essentially a sculpted piece of set which is sitting on the mountain.) WDI did this to prevent another Yeti fiasco, knowing that such a large animated figure can eventually unleash irreparable damage to the ride structure itself. The intention is that when the head is experiencing technical problems, the animated piece which moves independently from the body can be rolled away from its show position to be worked on.
