I'm pretty sympathetic towards Batman & Robin, and everyone who made it, because the whole reason why Schumacher made this movie into what it wound up being was because Batman Returns, while being the perfect Batman movie (IMO - definitely at least in terms of how dark it was, fitting a superhero nicknamed the DARK Knight), was bleak, depressing, and decidedly _not_ family friendly, and that was a direct threat to Warner Brothers' plans to wallpaper their holiday mansions with $100 bills (not my analogy). They brought Schumacher on because they _wanted_ a family friendly live action cartoon. They got exactly what they wanted, and they hated it. Schumacher even wanted to make amends for the movie being such a fail by going back to the series' roots with a much darker, more serious sequel - they unfortunately wouldn't let him, which is a shame, because Batman Unchained sounded really cool. And for what it's worth, while Batman & Robin is an awful superhero movie, it's at least a lot of fun to watch and really funny because it, as I said, was pretty much a live action cartoon with a lot of unintentionally funny moments, ranging from corny dialogue and hammy acting, to cartoony sound effects and crappy costumes and props.
