@yakshakingu Жыл бұрын
@LotsaJello Of course every generation does however more predominant things happened for our culture in the 90s. It was also the last decade before all these entitled confused people took over. Now we live in a society full of individuals who were picked on in school and never got over it whom are now the majority. Everything popular now is a mix of what happened before there are no original ideas or anything just look at all the reboots that are happening. The 90s were original and it matters not how old one was during that time everyone who was around unless they were in diapers will agree. We also knew how to use grammar. These boards have spell check and there's people like you who use "bc." I know that's just the norm for people now but that's an example of my point. We didn't get offended by everything back then either. It was definitely a different time and it's sad it's gone. But I guess lifelong victims need their turn 🤷.

Great list overall, but could you please provide some sort of spoiler warning. Evangelion was laid out entirely, you explained the ending to the Ghost in the Shell movie, and you spoiled the HELL out of Perfect Blue (a movie that hinges on the big reveal). This vid could serve as a great way to introduce fans, old and new, to a few of these shows/ movies, but it falls apart if you explain the entire thing ahead of time.

It annoys me when people say that Anime is now mainstream because it obviously is not in most of the world and i think the people that say that dont understand that anime fans on the internet and the mainstream audience is not the same. Mainstream means that even if people have not seen it they still knows what it is and Anime is not like that. Like with Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings, Star Trek, Spiderman, Batman, Superman, Super Mario, Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, James Bond, Indiana Jones and other similar stuff even if people have never seen those things they still knows what they are but most people in the world have never heard about Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Cowboy Bebbop, Death Note, Gintama, Hunter X Hunter, Berserk, My Hero Academia and other popular animes. If you would talk about those animes to most people in the world they would have no idea what you are talking about. I think many people think that only because its easy to find other anime fans on the internet nowadays it means that anime has become a big thing to everybody now but no anime fans are still a small minority in most parts of the world. If anime really was mainstream you would see it often in western mainstream media but no its almost only on nerd stuff on the internet that you hear about anime. To see and hear about anime you must search for it yourself but if it was mainstream you would see and hear about anime even if you dont search for it just like the stuff i mentiond before. Many people never search for those things i mentiond but they still hear about them and see them sometimes. They never see or hear about any animes. And not only in the west most people dont watch anime in most of the non western countrys too. Its only really in Japan that Anime is mainstream.
@alastor-yw7og2 жыл бұрын
I get what you saying and the only people that are usually mostly into anime and manga are the younger generations like you and me while it's not much for the older gens like our parents and grandparents but ofcourse there are a select few that don't mind it especially both they whiched it with us when we were little and certain series having stuff in them that they actually like
@sonofccn Жыл бұрын
I see what your saying and would even agree things like LOTR or Batman or Star Trek are more mainstream in the West/US being decades older in terms of Western culture. But in a world where Manga outsells US comics in the US, where anime films like Dragonball can be released in theaters and make a respectable box office, where animes from Battle Angel Alitia to to Ghost in the Shell have received Western adaptations I can't agree that's nothing has changed since the 90's. There are likely people who have seen an anime or its adaptation without even realizing it what it was or where it came from. Pretty much any streaming service you can name includes anime of some caliber so the idea that you have to specifically go looking for it is untrue. And of course things like Pokemon were and still are hugely popular with the general audience to the point you would be hard pressed to find someone in the US who hadn't at least heard of them.
