Assalmu Alikom everyone!
Amazing street food tour of the unique japanese halal food that you will find when you visit Japan! We take you on a journey that will make you hungry and fall in love with Japanese food and culture. For any Muslims travelling from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia or from North America, we want to show you where to eat in Japan and what are the top best foods that you need to try when you visit Tokyo, Osaka, Nara, Kyoto and Mt Fuji!
Japan is a country that is very unique from the rest of asia, it will teach you so much about how to be a perfectionist, how to be polite, how to be respectful and make you learn about the importance of traditions
We wanted to make a food and travel vlog for people looking to try the best foods in Japan, especially food that is halal!
Here is the list of the top halal street food in Japan:
1) Sushi
2) Donburi
3) Unagi Eel
4) Ramen Noodles
5) Soba Noodles
6) Teppenyaki
7) Yuba Tofu SKin
8) Okonomyaki
9) Japanese Ice Cream
10) Matcha GreenTea
11) Coffee
12) Hoto Noodles
13) Grilled Scallops
14) Mochi
15) Takoyaki
The street food in Japan is very different from South Korea in Seoul or from Bangkok Thailand or in Malaysia, the food is focused on very simple ingredients but with a lot of flavors!
WHen you visit Japan make sure you are open to eating the food, it is different and disrespectful if you do not eat the food at a restaurant. When we went into the sushi restaurant the first thing the chef said to us was "you eat everything ok?" We knew we were going to eat some interesting and unique japanese dishes that we will never have any where else again!
Definitely the best place to try sushi and seafood is at the Tsukiji fish market, you can have a japanese omelette, donburi, sushi etc.
If you want some cheap street food then head over Ueno at Ameykoko market.
In Kyoto try the yuba which is tofu skin and it is amazing!
I know a lot of muslims may be worried to travel to Japan because there might not be a lot of halal options, but there is and the food is delicious!
This is a food guide to help people plan their travel to Japan especially when they want to know what types of food they must try before they leave! We want to help people explore different japanese foods in each city in Japan.
Please subscribe for more foodie videos and travel vlogs.
Like and leave a comment, let us know what you think and where should we travel to next!
Connect with me to see more pictures and delicious food!

Salam! I just wanted to share that for takoyaki, there is a halal shop in Shinsekai, Osaka. When I was there, I asked the chef what makes the takoyaki different (for halal and non halal kinds) and he said that takoyaki stalls may use Lard as oils. That was already a red flag for me. But there are more factors that contributes to takoyaki being not safe to eat (as a halal consumer) even tho it is seafood, like the tools they use. Most of it are made of pigs. But wallahualam. It is good to find out what makes a food halal (or not halal) especially while travelling.

One of my lecturer who work in halal certification section in JAKIM (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia or Malaysian Islamic Development Department) have been requested by the Japanese industries to teach them about how to make a food halal to Muslim. So you can be sure that the Japanese are very serious about this halal business. They've been aiming to increase the number of Muslim tourist.

Thanks for the video, but for Japanese food, there's a huge problem which is Mirin. It is a kind of vinegar which contains alcohol, and is used in most dishes, rice, noodles, and broth. So basically, pretty much everything from sushi to noodles become haram in a way...
@getwildandtough2663
@getwildandtough2663 4 жыл бұрын
Welcome to Japan! Unfortunately, most of Japanese foods contains mirin, miso, soy sauce and rice vineger. And alcohol is added to most of them. Of cource there are some of them which has halal certification, but those are not commonly used in Japan.

I don’t want people to miss understand that it’s should be hard to find absolutely “halal” food in Japan. The sauce for Takoyaki or Okonomiyaki, mayo and even soy sauce are maybe include alcohol (vinegar) if there are not halal restaurant. Please don’t miss understand guys! You must be make sure each time, there isn’t halal food everywhere..

Japanese foods usually contain sake or mirin or both. It is used as part of their dips ( usually added to their soy sauce) and also in their seafoods dishes, sushi, even vegetarian foods, soups, meat and chicken and some deserts. A quick check online will show many recipes from Japan where sake and mirin is used in most recipes. Unless maybe a person request at restaurant for these alcoholic seasonings to be omitted?

Thank u for the good video! I just want to say that the sauce of takoyaki could contain beef stack unless they made the sauce from the store and they made that as halal. So if u want to have it as 100percent halal it is better that u ask to the staff that take out the sauce when u order the takoyaki. Alhamdou lillah I became a Muslim couple of yrs ago and I'm still learning many things from the ppl. In Sha Allah I hope this information will help our sisters and brothers! :)

Could you please be more specific at which particular street stall in Dontonbori you got the halal Takoyaki? Certified Halal? I was queuing for Takoyaki at a very popular stall on the opposite side of the Glico man. Guess what I saw while queuing?! The same stall sells pork - listed on their menu stuck on the wall.

golekgolek true! Need to becareful with the takoyaki also. Some of them still add meats

golekgolek Salaam! The one we went to is called Kukuru, they use octopus inside the takoyaki ball and there is no pork or other meat. It doesn’t need to certify for halal cause it serves seafood and not meat :)

hamizah Hamid yes that is true but just use google translate and ask for octopus or seafood. The one we went to Kukuru only used octopus

Are all the type of that 15 foods in japan are halal?like we can eat ramen in all places? or we need to find that food in halal restaurant?
@YusufIbrahim
@YusufIbrahim 6 жыл бұрын
Nahda Zira that’s a great question! So if you are going to eat ramen it’s best to find a halal restaurant cause a lot of the ramen is made from pork. However there are a lot of ramen stores that serve seafood or vegetarian ramen but you have to ask them.

Sushi is a cold meal, and expensive fancy sushi restaurant tends to make lukewarm rice sushi because eating a cold meal isn't good for your stomach or digesting. Oh, I'm Japanese, and I recommend you to eat sushi with hot soup like miso soup, or hot green tea. Don't eat cold sushi only, for your health!

Hi I have a question about okoknomyaki or tepanyaki was made infront of you,but was that only for vegetarians? My point is what if the another customers order that included poultry or pork was prepared in the same place or the same spatula and it was just cleaned by a wipe. I am just trying to understand don't get me wrong. or where they certified hala establishments. As you chose sea food for tepanyaki hence I thought over . Thanks

Hey :D there are designated restaurants that are just seafood and do not serve any pork/chicken etc. There is also a halal japan app that you can use and it tells you which restaurant serves halal :D

@YusufIbrahim

Aliah Ah Salaam! Jazakallah for reaching out. Yes! Most are halal the only ones that are not halal is if they put pork in the takoyaki ball but we found that 90% only used halal ingredients :)
