Miami got the biggest steal. Jamie Jaquez Jr’s last 7 games have been crazy for a rookie. Team trusts him to play mostly the whole 4th quarter and he hits big clutch shots too. Another Heat culture type of player.

It can not be understated, that SGA's second year, first in OKC he got to learn from new diet and rejuvenated CP3 and even Dennis Schroeder. Wemby doesn't necessarily need another big to do that for him, to be honest, CP3 would have been great.

Oh yah? You think? You think a rookie or sophomore might massively benefit from being mentored by CP3 for a season? Nnnnnaaaahhhh😊 I think they should do what OKC did with KD year one and that was playing him as a guard/SG. Improving on his guard skills is what will really create a monster.

He’s Kawhi and Scottie Pippen like. He literally does EVERYTHING. The only negative in his game right now is his shot, and even that’s not as bad as people make it out to be if you actually watch the Pistons every game like me. I totally understand Bill’s point about the spurs. I’ve seen a few games and it is frustrating sometimes feeling like they don’t want to get Wemby involved. And the decision to bring Jones off the bench when he was very solid as a starter is so strange to me

As a Spurs fan it's so frustrating that the only player on the team other than Tre Jones who can throw a good post entry pass is Victor. Which lets teams get away with throwing small guys on him, and then when he tries to call his own number getting the ball at the three point line he doesn't have the handles to take guards off the dribble and gets picked. Pop's gone senile with the Sochan experiment.

Chet should be 1, I get that Wemby looks great because he's the best player on bad team but he's been terrible at shooting. He's shooting 50/28/76 while Chet is shooting at an elite level 58/44/91 which is crazy for a rookie to be doing. You can say that's because Wemby is getting worse looks because he's got a bad team around him but that doesn't explain FT% where Chet is destroying him while Wemby is below league avg. Also the difference between 28% and 44% shooting from 3 is insane regardless of what team your playing for, regardless of what PG you have. Wemby's defense is may be the selling point but his defensive numbers don't look that much different from Chet. Also it's not like Chet is standing around waiting for easy layups. He still has 20% usage compared to Wemby's 30%. If you consider he's basically putting up the same numbers on 10% lower usage you really start to see how inefficient Wemby has been. On a side note about age, Chet is only 1 year older. If you think Wemby is going from 50/28/76 to 58/44/91 in one year, your crazy. The only thing I can see him being better than in one year than Chet is his defensive numbers, or maybe becoming more efficient by taking less bad shots and turning the ball over less.

Wow now we just saw chet against an experienced team in crunch etc. And he was just sure he had it goin and for his age, man it was so fkn awesome to watch. After watching this clip of the pod, it's just wemby and chet man.. for real. They'll make the young mistakes it's just inevitable. But they're on a level on their own, just the 2. Any rookie or young player in the conversation, pffft there's nobody.

Not really sure how they can possibly have Wembanyama ahead of Chet atm. Chet has far better offensive numbers, much, much more efficient and similar impact defensively. Sometimes, journalists go into a season with a narrative in their heads and are just determined to stick to it. Evidence be damned.

I mean its also the middle of November. Much can change by the time January/February rolls in with the trade deadline and the ASG looming over. And especially in the 2nd half of the season where rookies numbers historically go down with being gassed in their first full season.
@h98986
@h98986 9 ай бұрын
@@t4d0W Totally agree. Wemby may well surpass Chet during the season. But, as I understand it, this was meant to be a ranking of how the rookies are currently performing, not an end-of-season projection. And, in that case, I don't see how Chet doesn't get the nod. I suspect it's because the media hyped Wemby up to a ridiculous extent before the season, and are now personally invested in him succeeding so that their predictions look correct. This vested interest could be the reason they rank Wemby ahead of Chet and others, even if he doesn't deserve it. Same with all the Jokic haters last season.

If Wemby loses a $100M Nike shoe contract because he doesn't win ROY due to Pop's experiment, will this damage his relationship with the Spurs? This will test his loyalty when contract signing time comes around.

Scoot is physically ready...the problem is he is now on a team whoch he has to lead...he cant lead that particular team as a downhill westbrook/rose guy. His size will give other guards issues (not named holiday and smart) but can he control a game, which will take time. The kid mays isnt doign a bad job amd may prove to have his stock raised like vanvleet with scoot, brogdon and simons out, all eho play a sg/pg role.

@angryfish9976 wouldn't want him to. A floor general is a lost art right now. The ball goes in the hands of your best player but they're not necessarily the best offense initiator, just the best shot creator for themselves. Wemby is so fuckin overrated. “But his elite defense stats and he his touch for 7’4.. “ Ok? And his shyness from the paint has him shooting 42% and his team losing by 30 every game lol. Anytime Zubac holds you to 9 pts on 12 shots it’s time till re-evaluate if what you’re doing is working

In my eyes it's because teams draft for potential too much versus taking guys that can help now. It's like if a guy is over 20 then his window is devalued. Expecting guys who still can't legally drink a beer to be responsible with millions of dollars and continue to develop is a risky proposition.

Chet has far superior shooting stats(59-40-90) and the same bpg (2.2)has 2.2 TOs vs wembys 3.9. it's not close. Wemby is a bit better rebounder but neither are elite . Season isn't over but I don't get the wemby praise since his offense is so mediocre

@@nicyee3701 considering he's a terrible shooter I doubt that. Maybe he'd play closer to the basket(where wemby should play), but his shooting splits wouldn't be as good as chets is now.
