Whats the problem having too many metroidvanias? Now you have more to choose from, and you can always ignore the ones of poor quality and the ones you do not like. Unless you have ADHD in which you think you must play all them and beat them. In this golden age of games, unless you have zero social life and responsibilities, it is impossible to play all games one wants and beat them. Me personally, I check reviews and play demos of games Im interested, and then I make a decision if I really want to complete them.

Just for the record, AFTER IMAGE is a pure metroidvania. It also has one of the largest maps I've ever played in the genre. And unless you're fast traveling, there is no loading. Once you're in the game it's one continuous massive, almost too massive, interconnected map. It is well worth the money

Love these type of games, and working on my own based on a comic I used to draw as a kid, which I am redoing called, "Sentient Armament". Sci-fi fantasy all the way. It was inspired by imaginary characters and stories my bro and created as kids, space, metal music, Guilty Gear, old and school Phantasy Star. It begins on Earth 2184, but you go to other planets.

I started getting back into it, after talking with my friend's mom, who wanted me to continue with it. He used to work with me on it, but he passed away which made me leave it alone out of depression, but I'm encouraged to continue and finish it greatly. I did a sketch of the main character, and the mega drawing starts this week! I'm leaving the writing alone for a little bit, I need to draw! ^_^

His name is Ika-san, a squid from another planet, with psychic powers. The main character Einar likes the character, and feels connected to it, since he too is from another world, and fights for Earth.. He is sort of a dork.

What most current gen pixel art games do is create beautiful individual pieces of pixel art, but because the resolution/size they choose the view zooms out so much and because of the level design/level dressing it kind of falls apart and really makes it look like stitched together pieces. It is like with early gen 3d game with textures for walls or water which look great at the intended distance, but when you zoom out you really notice the tiling, repeating pattern.

Meifumado: Sprites look wonderful but are the stages all going to just be flat? That's not Metroidvania, that's just a hack-and-slash. Mandragora: Looks okay I guess. Still... just right and left? Afterimage: Oh now we're talkin. This looks beautiful. Hope it's got some neat story stuff without getting cheesy. Anno: Meh... Itorah: Level design looks neat Elyuden: Not fond of the paperdoll characters. Salt and Sacrifice: Again, more paperdolls. I see a lot of this in indy games. Is there a name for this style? Trek to Yomi: I hope it's not in black-and-white. Personally I say that should be an option but not the default. Also... doesn't look like a 2D Metroidvania to me... Dark Light: Lots of flashy moves, maybe too flashy for me. Looks like one of those games where I'd have trouble keeping track of all that's going on. Souldiers: Looks a little too chibi for me but under the right circumstances I could forgive that. Some of the enemy sprites look really nice. Crowsworn: Not pronounced "crown sorn" like the guy in the video says. Really reminds me of Hollow Knight. Solomon's Demons: Meh.. Crude: Kinda has a claymation sort of look to it. Kinda neat but... meh Plague Huntress: OK here we go, THIS is Metroidvania! If this gets a physical release on Switch, I'm on it. Momodora: Looks cool. I still need to play the other games. Glimmer: More paperdolls.... Doomblade: Eh, I'll pass on this one. The character designs don't look very appealing. Transmute: Axiom Verge, is that you? CRUDE developers: If you happen to read this, I'd suggest you to add more variation on the character's voice when he attacks; perhaps 5 or 6 similar but slightly different sounds for each attack or action. Like when in Silent Hill or Dark Souls, footsteps sound a little different even on the same surface. This prevents the game getting boring when there's a sound you keep listening for the whole duration.
