As a Dutch person i'll kindly tell you the "j" is definitely NOT silent and there IS a difference in pronunciation, but i can definitely imagine how it would sound like there is no "'j" to a non Dutch speaker.

Fun Fact: Grant Imahara, (RIP) of MythBusters fame, worked on the early stages of the Spider-Man animatronic. I'm not a superhero or Spiderman fan, but I was blown away seeing this animatronic! Such an impressive feat of technological engineering -- especially with having a robot that is not hooked up to anything like a support beam, hanging wires, or rotating base. To think that we have this right now in the 21st Century is breathtaking.

I am SO grateful that I got to experience the Jaws ride twice before it closed down. I'll never forget the first time because it was raining hard and we were dressed in yellow ponchos getting drenched by the rain. It was only me and my grandmother that went on the ride. We were horror movie buddies and we loved Jaws. The heavy rain we were in really enhanced the experience, making it WAY more terrifying! And the fact that we were also in yellow ponchos was the subtle icing on the cake that made it even scarier because in one of the sequels at the very beginning of the movie, a guy gets eaten by Jaws and he's in a yellow poncho/raincoat. I got to experience the ride one other time in my life before it closed down. The weather was clear that day so I got to experience it the "normal" way but it wasn't the same for 2 reasons...1. The bad weather the first visit actually added to it and made it better. 2. and more importantly...my grandmother was no longer with us 😥 She was all I could think about during the ride and it just wasn't the same. She died May 1st 2014. In a strange way...experiencing that ride for the last time felt like a way to say goodbye to her. Because I never had the chance to in person. I miss you so much Glinda Gilreath! 🥲💓

While I never got to ride the ExtraTERRORresteral ride at Disney, I did ride its replacement in Stitch’s Great Escape and not to sound like a wimp, but that ride was genuinely terrifying. I remember when Stitch was about to spit acid on us (for some reason it actually kind of burned) and my mom held on to my restraint and said “don’t move a muscle”. For the rest of the ride, I couldn’t move a muscle out of pure fear. Also when we exited the ride, a MASSIVE chunk of the kids came out crying (I was on the verge of tears) and even some older teens were super paranoid. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I was 16 when I went on ExtraTERRORestrial and my brother was 13. Even with all the signs warning it was going to be scary, we were both shocked at how horrifying it was. Fun for us but the parents who had clearly ignored the warning signs bc "it's disney how bad could it be?" are probably still paying for therapy for their kids to this day. Someone brought their 5 year old and he ran out of the room when it was over and hid in the t-shirt stand in the attached merchandise shop. Parents couldn't get him out and he was just hiding and wailing in terror.

Thank you for showing the Sprookjesboom, even though there are more impressive ones, I was absolutely amazed by it as a little child. To be honest, it is looking like Disney and Universal have been offering bigger highlights with stuff that isn’t in the actual rides. Much of the highlights for my 2018 visit to Universal Orlando were with character meet-and-greets (mainly Blue and Donkey), since a lot of the really immersive rides like Jaws are no longer there. Heck, I’d argue the goblins that were mentioned in this video were more exciting than Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, but that’s probably just me being salty that a coaster dark ride hybrid with projection effects replaced a masterpiece of immersion like Jaws.

Hydrolic animitronics will always be better. You are able to get far more fluid motion with air than you can with motors. Not to mention you can get faster movement with less wear. A hydrolic arm can launch out change directions then come back just as fast while a mottor would get severely worn over time.

I've heard about the stunt robot aka Spider-man. Hollywood was trying to make androids that could do stunts in order to have less injuries/deaths for stunt doubles. What a concept....literally AND figuratively!! Our technology has come a LOOOONG way to achieving the perfect human like animatronics. I remember as a kid going to Showbiz Pizza and thinking-"wow, these characters are very realistic!" I look back now and think-"not so much." But in the 80's that was pretty futuristic.

Animatronics are an epic thing that the crews worked on in every year. IT would be possible if we get to see the Godzilla Animatronic. That would be huge like King Kong!!!

It would be amazing indeed! At the very least, it would be from the shoulders up since Godzilla is enormous.

I am so sad I didn't get to see the Hondo animatronic when I went to Galaxy's Edge. Covid restrictions were still in place at the time so unfortunately most preshows were not running. I was watching through Star Wars: The Clone Wars at the time so it would have been amazing to see that character come to life in person.

I wouldn't say Jack Sparrow's addition to the OG Pirates of the Caribbean rides was uncontroversial, there were definitely people that complained

Im surprised that Disney hasn't just shut down Expedition Everest for like a week. Remove the Yeti and replace him with a limited motion animatronic. Heck they could even just put up a fake rock facade around the Yeti and replace him while the ride is open. Its been more than a decade. This makes me think that there is actually a ride safety issue.

For me personally the Navi shaman of songs we’ll always be number one no matter how many animatronics after her have improved emotions of animatronics Navi shamaness songs still represents a huge achievement in animatronic functions her body alone has 39 functions in her face has 42 separate functions and she moves with such fluidity of ease it’s like they literally brought the knobby shaman of songs from the avatar movie and brought her all the way to Disney World in real life and if you didn’t know she was an animatronic you would be convinced that it was an actual Navy like how crazy is that

I was once ejected from Universal Studios Hollywood for standing up before the drop to smack the T-Rex animatronic in the face on the JP ride. I had been rather intoxicated from the 99 proof liquor that day, but I was impressed on how quickly the park responded to my antics. Security was literally waiting for me at the unloading station. Fun fact: the Rex’s teeth are actually hard as if they’re made of porcelain or something else that is very tooth like.

I’ve done some backstage fixing on the dinosaurs at universal, and it looks odd with lights on, whenever I went out to clean it and make sure everything was fine with all the Dino’s, it would just scare me to see how real they looked.
