Yes! Would love more horror animatronic rides! Most of the ones they have are more kid friendly which I can understand since theme parks are going to have more children and preteens then older teens and adults being the ones riding rides. But aside from rollercoasters and thrill rides attracting the older crowd if they added more "adult" based horror rides and haunted houses they would have something else to attract older kids/teens and adults.

The fact that Disney now has ownership over Alien/Xenomorph now means that if they wanted to they can FINALLY do an Alien themed ride in any of their Disney parks after the past attempts of doing one especially with how far their animatronic tech had gone over the years. Question is that if they're willing to do so. I'm guessing maybe Hong Kong Disneyland since they're pretty famous for actually being willing to do scare mazes and attractions similar to how Universal does Halloween Horror Nights. Like their famous or infamous depending on how one feels about the idea their Nightmare experiment mazes.

Okay, real talk about Big Al. I first went to Disney World when I was 7 years old, and when I watched The Country Bear Jamboree, I enjoyed most of it (and this was back in the day when they played the whole show and didn't chop it up like a fish at a sushi restaurant)...that was until Big Al showed up. I was first confused when I heard those opening guitar strings. However, the moment the curtains opened on Big Al, I felt like I was that kid in that Simpsons meme that says, "I'm in danger." I didn't wanna go back in there again until I was in my teens. Overall, I'm really happy to watch this video and to see that I'm not the only person who thought Big Al was terrifying as a child. A couple years ago someone on WDWMAGIC had interviewed an Imagineer and they said yeti has 3 main issues: 1. Maintenance is difficult given the size of the yeti and the location. Keep in mind, the yeti is 25 feet tall, 4 tons and about 20 feet above riders. He would move about 5 feet towards guests pretty quickly. 2. Due to how large yeti is, how frequently and how violently it would move, damage to the figure would spread quicker than could be fixed. I believe it was said an issue in the arm would spread to shoulder, chest, ect and there was no taking chances running a damaged figure on the location he is.. 3. Nobody wants to foot the bill. Does WDI pay? Parks pay? Iger/Damaro/Chapek whoever pay? Rhode? Nobody wants to because it would definitely cost a pretty penny to fix him. Also the worry of "Well, we fixed him. Three days later his shoulder joint breaks and here we go again"

Neither did I (at least as far as Big Al was concerned). And a funny thing, when I was at Disneyland's 30th anniversary celebration, when I did The Country Bear Jamboree, not knowing it was one of the last times the original show would be at Disneyland (!!!), when Big Al first came on, most of the audience gave him a standing ovation.

I miss that show SO much. The ride it was replaced with is utter crap.

Unrelated to this video, but, everytime I think about the donkey transformation in Pinocchio, I cry. Something about kids calling for their moms hurts.

On my first trip to Animal Kingdom, I don't think I sat through "It's Tough to be a Bug" long enough to see Hopper. No, as soon as the *bees* showed up, I ran out of the theater screaming!

I'm so pissed that the Alien on entry #2 was taken down. I thought that thing was absolutely flawless and was oozing with creativity. It's design had so much effort, and the story for the ride was beautifully executed. If the imagineers for that parks know what they're doing, they'll remake that attraction in that empty spot where it once was.
@ZeldaTheSwordsman2 жыл бұрын
The alien's design lives on, at least. The lava monster from Journey to the Center of the Earth is basically an upscaled copy with a new color scheme.

4:54 Fun Fact: Although the Carnotaurus makes it’s appearance 4 times on Dinosaur, there is a fifth Carnotaurus in the photo area. You can see it if you look up and to the left after the photo is taken on the ride. The side lights of the Time Rover help to see it as they turn on when you start to leave. I was only able to notice it after I rode Dinosaur for the 7th time that day. (I ended up riding it 20 times on the same day)

It’s Tough to Be a Bug was the only thing to make me full on cry on a trip to Disney when I was little. I’ve always had arachnophobia and I didn’t know about the black widows coming from the ceiling and I just immediately started hyperventilating and shaking. I’ve only done it one other time since and never again. It was so bad
@Smiller16893 жыл бұрын
After all of these years, I never knew what the alien in Extraterrorestrial actually looked like until now. When I was little, I hated that ride due to how scary it was. My brother loved it, but I was still too young to understand it was all fake and never wanted to go back since then. However, I always wondered what the alien was supposed to be. After seeing it now, it reminds me of a monster called Megaguirus from Godzilla vs Megaguirus.

It's tough to be a bug isn't scary... the animatronics are cool as hell, and if you're going on a ride like that with any bug or insect, arachnid, etc. related phobias, more the fool are you. Alien Encounter was also awesome, one of the best rides added to Disney in a long time... I got to go on it ONCE... next time I went to Florida, it was closed and the redone version with Stitch wasn't open yet. Needless to say, I was not happy to hear what it was being replaced with.

Personally for me the creepiest animatronic is the one of Ellen from the that energy ride. The lifeless eyes, expressionless and blank face, heartless presence... It's just too much like the real person!

I don’t know, I’ve never been to Epcot much less ridden UoE, so I’ve never seen the animatronic. But I was in the live audience once so I have seen the real Ellen from a distance.

I still have a stuffed Big Al. He was my brother's favorite when he was 2, but when we finally made it to Disneyworld in 1986, Al wasn't singing Tex Ritter anymore. They had changed his song and all I remember was a line where he sang "I lost the love of my life/ and my Swiss Army knife" then he lamented "it was a good knife too". Personally, I loved his drawn out "Buh-loood on the saddle."

Big Al wasn’t scary at all. It was awesome and a sacred part of my childhood. Big Al was very clearly played as comedy. He “came out of nowhere” because the joke was that he didn’t get the upbeat tenor of the show and butted in with a slow, old-time, depressing cowboy song. The other actors in the show shooed him off for this. I used to sing his song at home as a kid, and to me he was nothing but funny.

K. But that doesn't automatically negate him being creepy to others. 🤷🏼♀️

Same, he was just a big old cuddly bear who didn’t quite get it LOL. I was 4 when CBJ opened and always loved it- even as teen punk rockers we’d be in there singing along. Big Al was my mom’s favorite, she thought he was hysterical.
