The Top 20 biggest Tesla crashes from Wham Baam Teslacam in 2022.
Teslacam Stories is a series of Tesla owners real experiences told by the Tesla Dashcam and Sentry Mode videos. All incidents are recorded from Tesla vehicles and submitted to this channel by other Tesla enthusiast. I contact each person who send me their videos to talk with them and learn more about their story and to follow up what happened after what we see on their video. Voice over and captions are added to describe what happened, and why. I believe that this additional information regarding the incident gives the videos a newsworthy value.
⚡Having problems with your Sentry/Teslacam videos?
If you wonder why some videos have glitching and artifacting, it's due to a slow USB drive being used - like the standard Tesla USB. Teslacam writes 4 video files simultaneously and you need a faster drive that is meant to be written on constantly, and overwritten daily. For example high speed memory cards used for video cameras, or SSD drives. I always recommend the Samsung T5 SSD. It's cheap, and very reliable and you will have no artifacting: amzn.to/345q8SX (Amazon Affiliate link)

I liked number 19, a Honda stopped to quickly for auto pilot to respond. In other words the Tesla driver was driving to close to the car in front and ran in to the back of it. Lucky there wasn't anything in the lane to the right or the Tesla driver would have hit two cars.

Tesla drivers are typically rich privileged drivers. My uncle has a $120,000 model S and the way he drives and cuts off people is ridiculous. And he just laughs and jokes about it. “Get outta the way I got a Tesla! Ahaha” Ultimately, it isn’t the vehicle. It is that the owners are more rich than the rest of us.

I don't drive a Tesla but like watching these videos because the cameras catch all the details. I'm impressed with how sturdy they are, how they never seem to flip, and they keep the occupants safe. I've noticed that Teslas hydroplane during heavy rain and that they often times are totaled. I assume the parts are so expensive, so it doesn't take much to be considered totaled. I wonder why they hydroplane so often. Whenever it rains heavy where I live, there is this section where the interstate changes into three heavily trafficked interstates and there are always crashed right there in the rain. Last two times it rained, I witnessed a Tesla spin out and crash into another car and hit the Jersey wall at high speeds. I assumed he was driving too fast, but maybe he wasn't. The other time, I saw a Tesla that had just recently crashed right before I passed, but it hydroplaned and hit the same Jersey wall head on and no other cars were involved. These are just two random incidents out of many that happens there when it rains. I've seen cars of all types crashed there during rain. It's probably because there is a dip from one of the interstates where it goes up into an overpass. Water probably accumulates there causing these wrecks.
@ReasonX3
@ReasonX3 10 ай бұрын
I think the problem might in tires. I don't know what sort of tires are installed by default on Teslas, but hydroplaning means that wheels can't "dig out" all the water under them. Either the tire protector isn't good enough for rain conditions or people just drive too fast and aggressively.

How much influence does the Police report have on the decision made by insurers in the US? Unless it is a serious accident, they may have just taken a few witness statements and made a roadside judgment of fault. Insurers may have the benefit of time and possibly other dashcam footage not available to the police at the time. So can they overrule, after all it’s their money that is footing the repair bills?

I don't know the law where Jalon lives, but where I am, it's that if the lights go from green to yellow you stop unless it is unsafe to do so. There was clearly plenty of time to stop. That doesn't absolve the other driver of responsibility, but everybody has a duty to avoid dangerous situations, and going through yellow lights does not help. As it is, the light turned red as he crossed the line, and that is irresponsible driving.

Idk the laws in all states, but it's crazy it seems to mean "Proceed with caution" many places, when in Europe, yellow means "Stop if safe to do so". The moment the light turns red the intersection should be entirely empty. Many lights in America has very very long yellow and red lights, and people run it multiple seconds after, it's crazy. The mentality of "Knew he had time to make it" is so stupid. Jalon should have stopped like half a mile before. Like the black car in the right lane is probably just about the cutoff of where you should have stopped instead of kept going. I would 100% have blamed Jalon for that crash to be honest. You even see him floor it when he sees the yellow light, and still manage to run a complete red light. Very stupid driving, could have killed someone.

Month waiting time for my car (none EV) to get fixed last time, it was just a fender bender. @@laurakate84 Not going to call BS on your story because I don't know what parts you are waiting for, but my Chevy has been hit twice and repairs, with repaint took less than 2 weeks. Sorting out payment and paperwork with the insurance company took far longer than the repairs themselves. I also owned other brands, and I've never had to wait for parts for more than a few days. But I do hear Tesla owners constantly complaining about waiting months and months for even the simplest repairs. It's a constant given with Tesla and an outlier/rarity with other companies. Not to mention a repair estimate of over $20,000 for what looks like a destroyed rear bumper and some underlying bumper structure seems obscene. It's almost like they're designed to be disposable after even the smallest accident.
@laurakate84
@laurakate84 2 жыл бұрын
@@ganymede3141 Have any of your repairs been within the last year and a half? Prior to mid 2020 I had the same kind of experience as you stated. Now there is a backlog of everything. Parts and vehicles. One part is the reservoir for wiper fluid and the others are cosmetic parts for the interior. Nothing vital thank God, but still. Much different from any other experience prior to 2020. A lot of cars of all makes are being totalled now for seemingly minor things. A big part of that is even salvage prices are through the roof. So insurance companies will pay less to call a car a complete loss and sell it for parts than to repair it. That is more true when you factor in potentially having to pay the inflated rental car rates for an extended amount of time. All cars are effected right now. But most people don’t really realise it unless they have the misfortune of having to deal with it first hand. All electric cars are literally built different than traditional ICE cars. So the same accident on the same part of the cars will result in different damage severities under what we can see. Insurance companies are hesitant to authorise repairing batteries for one things. So one potentially damaged cell will call for a whole new battery. That’s just one example. There are also far fewer body shops that meet the standard requirements for authorised repairs. So you have the compounded issue of few parts and fewer people who can repair them. The people who can repair them also charge more. And rightfully so because honestly it does require a whole different type of skill set than traditional body shops. Teslas weren’t on most people’s radar until the last few years. Just in time for all parts of the economy to go crazy. Including cars. So a “normal” experience hasn’t been possible for many of the people complaining.

8:25 There's a hidden feature in Teslas: If you press AND HOLD the park button on the driving stalk, the Tesla will engage emergency brakes, no matter what speed you're going. My wife and I lost our MS to SUA, so when I bought the MX we tested that feature during the test drive (in a parking lot). It works!

People used to know how to drive cars. The problem with autopilot imo is that people don’t need to know how to drive. Pretty soon everyone on the road won’t have a clue as to how to save the car if it loses traction. 17:00 is a perfect example.

The problem with autopilot that it shouldn't be called "autopilot" in the first place. Tesla basically tests alpha versions of their driver assistant on their own customers.

Ad the other commenter has explained, the problem is that this isn't true autopilot. Also, in order to have a perfect autopilot utopia, you need that every single car has an autopilot too.

Jalon definitely should have stopped in that situation. You can see he actually entered the intersection on a red light.

@@HeartstopperguyWMAO743 if you look frame by frame it's hard to tell, which considering it turned yellow before he even made it to the solid line for the left turn lane demonstrates extremely poor decision making.

Yeah this definitely should have been the tesla drivers fault at least 80%, plenty of time to react, unsafe driving for the conditions, clearly wasnt paying attention.

I love how Tesla has fully integrated cameras on its all, a no-brainer for all car manufacturers imo. Other than that, I find it very odd of that lost-control in heavy rain conditions, too much torque from the electric motor?

Regen caused this. It should have better tech to not engage so much on slippery roads. Another tesla that almost killed people ugh

You would think that Tesla's being heavier than most other vehicles would help it not to hydroplane, but you're on to something with the strong torque from the motor, and also the regen braking.

I just came across this and I was super surprised to see #17 because I actually pulled up in my car right when that van took off. You can see my headlights at the very end. When I saw the wrecked Tesla I knew immediately it was a hit and run. I followed the van since he was going the same direction I was. That van was hauling ass! In and out of lanes. I called 911 to report what I saw but the operator told me no one had reported an accident so there was nothing they could do. I know it was years ago but if Kieth ever needs pictures of the suspect and van they can reply to this message. At least I hope I still have the pictures backed up.
