So much of the same. To each his own, but this list was pretty sad. With a few exceptions - Thriller, Smooth Criminal (anything with Michael Jackson), Uptown Funk, Everybody, Rhythm Nation, Vogue, Paula Abdul - the rest are just vulgar aerobic videos with costumes. I'd love to see most of these dancers get through a professional audition with Bob Fosse, Michael Bennett, Susan Stroman, Tommy Tune, Savion Glover, Michael Peters, Peter Gennaro, Jacques D'Amboise, Twyla Tharp, Mikhail Barishnikov, Jerome Robbins (ha!), Michael Kidd, George Faison, Gillian Lynne, Michelle Assaf, Dana Moore, Gregory Hines, Ann Reinking, Agnes DeMille, Graciella Danielle, Joey Pizzi, Kathleen Marshall - brilliant artists, dancer/choreographers, many no longer living. Rote t*ts and a$$ aerobics, pelvic thrusts and booty shakes are not choreography - no style, no grace, no arc, no story, no art.

Michael Jackson changed the game for music videos. He said I don't make music videos I make short movies. When I was younger they would have a Michael Jackson marathon day on tv where they would play all his short movies, then his actual movie Moonwalker, and then his live from Bucharest concert. I wish more artists today would put more effort into their music videos and performances because so many are just lackluster. I used to get so excited watching music videos when I was younger and now except for a few artists, it doesn't excite me anymore.

New edition If isn’t love should be on its one the most iconic dance choreography from the 80’s

Smooth Criminal is in the wrong place. Too low. It’s a masterpiece.

When I was in elementary school, I wanted to dance like Janet soooo bad. And I cannot tell you how many times I replayed this video on my VHS... dying & trying to dance like Janet here🤩

Tinashe “Company” deserves an honorable mention. The choreographer is JoJo Gomez, who is amazing!

Will Smith's Wild Wild West and Men in Black had excellent dance routines. Surprised they didn't make the cut.

I remember waiting in anticipation for the release of Thriller and it didn't disappoint. I still today could watch it over and over. As a kid though - I was a bit terrified :) Thanks MsMojo!

Almost every single Michael Jackson video belongs on this list. Especially the song and video "Beat It" was totally iconic, I remember it blowing my mind! I agree also Smooth Criminal, but you missed a whole lot of MJ!

Good video post, close to great. On the critical side of it. Your analysis run into many conflicts. First, how can you honestly place "You Can't Touch This" by M. C. Hammer ahead of Michael Jackson's "Smooth Criminal?" Next, if you are going to add "If" and "Rhythm Nation 1814" by Janet Jackson. Why isn't "Feedback" on this list too. The real disrespect came to Paula Abdul. If you put "Cold Hearted" on this list. Then "Opposites Attract" is 100 times greater and better.

I'm with you with the number one. But most of the moves're adopted from the Blues Brothers (Shake your Tailfeather), okay both choreos from John Landis🤔😉

Seriously Psy doesn't even get an honerable mention? Whether you hate or love Gangnam Style you can't deny that it was everywhere and opened up the genre of K-Pop to an even greater Western audience.

I have to agree. I was just thinking this video is really anglophone-biased. If they can't even throw a bone for Shakira for some Latin music representation at least, i'm not expecting anything for kpop. 🤣
@FionaApplewright2 жыл бұрын
@@leaf9530 they actually listed gangnam style in another video they posted a few hours after about the top moments in music history but I still feel it's best for this video. And you're right about Shakira.

That was a great video, but the choreography is just not in the same class. Now if you talk to me about a Shakira video, I might be more willing to include. .... lol ...

@@k.c1126 I agree and admit that I, along with WM, overlooked Shakira.

As I said for the Top 10 Choreographed list - Back in the dark ages, when I was young, M.C. Hammer's song started at a dance club I'd gone to with my friends. A leering creepy guy easily twice my age put his hand out to dance with me saying only, "It's Hammer time." How he didn't expect my obvious response, "And you can't touch this!" is beyond me.

This was a tough list. I'm surprised you didn't do top 100. But I think if you included international videos the list would have been different. You did great. But I wish you'd included BTS

@14:37 The set used for the "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" music video was the Whipstaff Manor set used for the movie Casper from 1995. Notice the purple swirl pattern on the floor.
