If you like dark souls 1i recommend old school survival horror games like resident evil 1. They have the atmosphere, exploring and figuring out where to go, finding shortcuts, spaced out checkpoints, etc. And they're usually fun to speedrun afterwards

@@ventureknight same happened to me when my friend bought me Elden Ring for last christmas. Since then I beat it 6 times, Dark Souls 3 twice, Dark Souls 1, Sekiro, Code Vein and Thymesia once. Also I'm halfway through Dark Souls 2, Lies of P, Lords of the Fallen, and have Steelrising and Shattered: Tale of the Forgotten King sitting in my library :D So yeah, I'm sort of a souls addict too

huge W for having castle crashers and hollow knight on this list. I’d also highly recommend the Binding Of Isaac, it’s difficult like souls games, and it has basically infinite replayability, I wouldn be lying if I said it was likely the most replayable game of all time

I absolutely love Cyberpunk 2077, the charactrr building is cool, and the spy sections in the DLC are really cool. But it still has some bugs. But I absolutely love decimating groups of enemies using a giant hammer.

Yeah I'm putting off buying Skyrim for probably too long. When I was a kid, it was probably the first game I ever played (or Spore, not sure which one), and for the last one and a half year I was thinking of buying it to actually play it finally, and not just run around and kill people, but I always ended up buying another soulslike or metroidvania game (every Soulsborne game available on PC, Lies of P, LotF, Thymesia, Code Vein, Steelrising, Shattered: Crown of the Forgotten King, Hollow Knight, Nine Sols, both Blasphemous games, Ori and the Blind Forest, Last Faith and most recently Voidwrought) but after I finish them all (already completed like half of them), which will probably take another five months, I will finally buy Skyrim. Or should I buy Morrowind and Oblivion first?

Definitely do it man it’s one of my favorite games of all time. I do wanna make it clear tho it’s much more relaxed and slow paced than souls games or most of the games you mentioned, it’s just kinda a fun game to just hop on and get lost in a world. It’s almost like therapy for me as corny as that sounds

I will just give a suggestion. Pls don't get offended it's just a suggestion. Even if you don't like flashy games, you need to try devil may cry 5 man. Yeah it's flashy but it's just so much fun man. Specially playing vergil. You'll ascend to space for how smooth and fun vergil's combat is. And it's not anime style. I also don't like anime style games like code vein or metaphor. But dmc is not anime style. It has its own style and it's cool. It's way better than any anime style game. Just buy the game right away man. I've already glazed a lot lol. But Its just THAT good and worth the price. Trust me

Man- I'm just now doing my first play of Elden Ring- my 78 year old mom surprised me with it for my birthday in August. I just got to Malenia...dude, I am honestly thinking that I am not going to be able to beat her. I got to her as level 166. I beat Morgott Fwll Omen I'm 2 tries; Reikard in 6, Commander Niall I'm about 9 tries. I have fought this bitch now for an added up amount of 22 HOURS. I respecced twice...my character is a bruiser (started as a Confessor, but didn't focus on magic, so I have dex and strength, I respecced and tried maxing out my strength; then madxingnout health. No. I can get her to phase two, half a health bar; but I just can't seem to stick a landing. I am so damn exhausted with this...I know I could just go finish the game, but...no, dammit! I got rid of Mohg after I fought her for a few hours just for something else to do...

Hot take: DMC5 sucks, why, cuz you cant dodge normally, if you wanna dodge, you have to lock on , and locking is by holding not a toggle. I couldnt finish it.

I completed it two times without dodging once. Honestly I think it's more about comboing everyone to death than precise combat. But yeah I kinda understand why someone wouldn't like it. After playing through many souls I got used to more precise and patient combat, and I tried returning to DMC5 and just couldn't play it. Still, back when I played it, it was one of my favorite games

because dodging isn’t the point? it’s about being able to combo and create space to gain better style and fight the enemies. if you’re dodging and playing it like a souls game no wonder you don’t like it
