I used to watch it a lot as a kid and teenager, I hadn't seen it in years so I watched it yesterday and it's just as good as I remember. They really put the extra work into the ship they built and the stop-motion characters. The skeletons coming out of the ground and fighting the men took 4 months to do! I love the giant Talos statue. I think this list is really a list of favourites for one reason or another. I would like to see your list of great actors, the best at their craft. Mine would include Daniel Day Lewis and Robin Williams like yours but I’d add Burt Lancaster, Richard Burton, Leonardo, Marlon Brando, Henry Fonda and Burl Ives. The last few are carbon dating me.
@AVAPopCultureАй бұрын
@sallyannchappell5671 while these are my favorites (as I mentioned I wasn't just factoring in acting ability) however, if I were, there would probably still be about a dozen of these names on that list as well... I feel like I don't look at actors the same way after so many years of casting and directing actors... I've never been one just to go along with the crowd or popular opinion on who is great or what is good....I feel like it would be easy just to make a list of what the widely agreed upon "greats" are but that wouldn't reflect my own thoughts on what I like or look for in actors... I may get around to doing a list based on acting alone!
@sallyannchappell5671Ай бұрын
@ as you can see from my list, I didn’t just go with the big names. Burl Ives, yes he won an Academy Award for best supporting actor, but he didn’t win one for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and he DW should have. Burt Lancaster is there for The Rainmaker where he acted opposite Katherine Hepburn and he wrung every inch out of the character of Billy Starbuck. Fonda is there for 12 Angry Men, yes a popular one but hard to discount and his role opposite his daughter in On Golden Pond was heartbreaking. They aren’t all huge awarded actors, they are consummate actors, a credit to their craft. I will qualify it with, In my opinion!

@@sallyannchappell5671 oh for sure! I wasnt trying to imply that everyone you mentioned were big names but in general, that is what I am getting a lot in my comments (had to delete a few kind of nasty comments from some folks lol) ...a lot of people want this list to just be a playing if the popular hits like: Pacino DeNiro Brando Hopkins Grant Peck Bogart DiCaprio Eastwood Stewart (which I did have) etc etc and they get pretty nasty if the people they commonly expect to be on the list, arent LOL...if it were just on acting ability of certain performances, there would be some changes for sure!

@benbelzer8303Ай бұрын
I think part of that is social media and politics. There's little privacy and a lot of the mystique is missing. That's why I love actors you rarely see do interviews. The film industry is quite different too, but so is the music industry.
@DareDevil0504Ай бұрын
@benbelzer8303 i think part of it on top of those points is movies now a days are mostly remakes or long over due sequels so movies aren't the same either
@benbelzer8303Ай бұрын
@DareDevil0504 True. And the industry operates very differently regarding people actually going to the theatre and what Hollywood even is anymore. I like a good dark comedy stage production, like The House of Yes, or a suspense like What Lies Beneath, or oddball like Donnie Darko. But with horror, I don't mind the 6 or 7 sequels. Horror is its own unique thing and I love that. The one thing I don't like is "reboots" where they completely destroy the original.
@DareDevil0504Ай бұрын
@benbelzer8303 yea reboots of any genre ruins it, I don't usually mind some sequels but some sequels where they try to go woke like the all female Ghostbusters and the last Indiana Jones movi, is the kind of sequels I think ruin a series
