I love the 40-150mm lens. It's my second most used lens after the 12-100mm. I take a lot of landscape photos, so the wider range of the 12-100 is best most of the time. When I really want to get in close to animals though, I use the 40-150. I also have the 2x tc. It works rather well. I tested out the 100-400 but ended up with the 40-150 instead as it better fits my uses. The 2.8 is just great for low light, where I found the 100-400 could make it more of a challenge Having said that, the IS in the 100-400 is nice to have. There are times I wish the 40-150 had IS, or even Sync-IS, but I guess that is dreaming. I love the photos here, especially the elephants. You're right, shooting in monochrome does make a difference. I usually go for editing in post, but you have the raw with the jpeg, so you might as well see what the camera gives you. Thanks for the tip. This is great stuff here. Truly lovely photos.

I've seen many of your videos and really do appreciate your enthusiasm, real world examples, and terrific information! I am headed on several trips in 2024. I think the OM1 and lenses will be my companion kit. In several of your videos you mentioned capturing 50Mb images. which your editors demand. How do you capture that size of an image? It seems like that size is only possible with tripod Hight Resolution. As a newbie to Olympus, your help would be very much appreciated!

That's the processed tif default file sized for the OM-1 so everyone gets it. Actually it's 57mB in size

Hi Andy, Awesome photos !! Ive been trying to put together a DIY rig for low angle photography out of a safari vehicle, but can only find monopods that i can use uoside down. Was wondering if they make monopods with the grip on the opposite side of where the camera would mount?

Congratulations, Incredible pictures and walk thru. I love elephants also, particularly having taken a recovering one for a guided walk in the bush in SA. Felt a wonderful affinity and told her all sorts only to discover she just spoke ,Swahili. Thoroughly enjoying your Field Guide and am playing with high isos atm.
