I walked over and struck up a conservation complimenmting him on the boat and pretending I didn't recognize him from TV. We chatted a couple minutes about the harbor and the nice weather, and then I said I had to go because my mom was waiting and left the dock.. For awhile I talked online w someone who has a family relationship to a big time celeb. As a kid Aerosmith lived 4 houses up from me for awhile. That was after they first made some money. But I didnt care. A friend who was 2 years older than me went to their house all the time. He was into their music. The Aquinos lived on the next street for awhile. But he went back to Philipines and got assasinated. Later she was President. Actor James Remar lived on next street as a kid. He was older than me, I didnt know him. I think a couple of my older siblings knew him. I had been to Tom Brady's house a few times, and Bob Kraft's (they pretty much lived back to back).. But never met them. Donahue was right. I wasn’t on board with the Iraq War. My friends were serving and I didn’t want Anyone to protect oil fields so Big Oil can sell Americans oil. When we were defending people in both world wars, Korea and Vietnam I could easily get behind a campaign. We always used to be the country who helped others. We shouldn’t be the people who use the military to help ourselves.

The first Gulf War was about oil as well as helping the Kuwaitis. I did support that war. The second Gulf War, the one that got Donahue fired, was not about oil. Iraq couldn't sell any due to sanctions. IMO it was about religious prejudice in the wake of 9/11 and frustration that sanctions were taking so long to work. Donahue was right about that one. War is heinously expensive. Saddam Hussein was contained for little to no cost. There was no need for us to go there, particularly when we were already involved in war in Afghanistan. So, with the election about two months out, Dan Rather reported that there were newly discovered documents from the early 1970's that undercut Bush's military service record. There was just one tiny problem: the documents in question looked like they'd been written in a 2004 version of MS Word, and not pounded out on a 70's era typewriter. Whoops.
