Great video! I really enjoy the 986 Boxster! I just recently got my second one to play with.. I will keep my Boxster S stock for now, to daily drive it, but the other one - oh well.. Greetings from Germany :)

Thanks so much, would be super helpful to provide some links to the products youve used. I cannot find the mantis deep sump anywhere... the LN engineering one has come under some scrutiny these days...
@NewArt12 жыл бұрын
Mantis autosport is a small Canadian company. I don't know if they still provide the deep sump. When I googled them, all I found was their Facebook page. I don't think that there would be a problem with LN. A deep sump is not a solution but can be helpful if you are generating high lateral g's.

I was hoping there may be someone out there talking about a successful turbo setup but not a chance

Hi Fellow Canuck, I’m interested in installing a turbo in my 986, non S , is this a waste of money? Will it work? Any Advice is welcomed

This certainly falls outside of my field of expertise! You should find more information on 986forum.com, good luck!

I need a suggestion from you and i k now you are the perfect person to ask. Im wanting my 987 to sort of be a perfect canyon runner which handles twisted roads like a charm and sprited general street driving. I want to do some suspension mods to take it to the next level. I dont track the car. What do you suggest. Go all out? That means coilovers, and sway bars with a semi aggressive alignment. OR will just lowering the car using lowering springs solve most of my issues. Ive heard a lot of conflicting info that lowering the car worsens handling, some say otherwise. Also, some say the stock setup is more than capable on the road for my purposes and the shortfall of the stock suspension is only noticed on track using some sticky tires and i should be just fine with the stock setup and its all in my head that the car needs to handle better for my purposes. And sway bars should be a priority over coilovers or is it the other way round

Gurasis Dhesi Hi there and thanks for your question. You didn’t mention whether your car was a base or an S. No matter, the 987 is perfectly capable direct from the factory to suit your needs. If you are not tracking,it’s really unnecessary to do much in the way of performance/suspension mods. Lowering springs with the appropriate shocks will make your car feel more planted , give it a more aggressive stance and possibly improve cornering since it will increase your negative camber. Coilovers will do this in the same way but if they cost much more than the spring/shock combo, I wouldn’t go that way. The only downside of the stiffer shocks and lowering springs is the firmer ride that could get tiresome on a daily driver in the city (especially if you have roads like here in Montreal!).

I do have a boxster s. I have a evoms rs350 package. 82mm gt3 throttle body,ipd plenum, tune 93 octane, evoms hiflo intake, carnewal gt exhaust which changes the internals of the stock exhaust so engine wise it should be putting close to 305-310 at the wheels
@guridhesi4 жыл бұрын
And making changes to the engine actually made me itch about suspension mods. Cause from the factory i thought the engine was great until i added the rs350 and i can tell you it did improve the performance of the car. Noticable difference. Percentage wise maybe 7 to 10 percent performance betterment. This is what got me thinking that if the same can be done for suspension its worthwhile

Hello, did you have the additional oil capacity on the motor that blew up? I am new to you videos and very interested in tracking my 986 S, but I don't want to ruin it. Thanks for a great video.
@NewArt14 жыл бұрын
Yes, I had a 2 litre deep sump. If you watch my post mortem video you will see that I attributed the failure to a possible oil passage blockage. May have been my fault due to over-liberally applying the silicone gasket material when installing the deep sump. I did find threads of this material in the sump during teardown.

Can lowering springs be installed on the stock shocks or bad idea?
@thomaslee76844 жыл бұрын
I have a '01 986 (118k miles) and I'm running Eibach lowering springs on stock struts, about a 1 inch drop all around. I also replaced the stock top hats, bump stops and hardware. Tbh I really should've just replaced the struts at the same time, but the car drives great.

Chinese headers and Circuitwerks high flow cats. Stock muffler.

What evom did u use??
@NewArt14 жыл бұрын
Ive had it changed as I upgraded things. I didn’t tune it myself but I would say that the mods called for the Evomsit stage 2 which is most likely what my tuner has uploaded at this time.
