Yeah, the Ward twist on Agents of Shield was a very good one. I would have gone with the unexpected death of Tara late in season 6 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer over Spike getting his soul back because that was an even better (while also being a horrible one at the same time) twist. It pushed Willow so far over the edge, it didn't seem like they'd be able to stop her or save her. I was thinking of Alias' plot twists and while there are a lot to choose from, it's hard to top the season 2 finale plot twist of Vaughn telling Sydney that the everyone she knew from the CIA had believed she had been dead for 2 years and then a later minor twist of Director Kendall telling Sydney that SHE was the reason that she didn't remember those three years, because he was the only person she contacted after her big fight with Allison Doren & they were both taken away by the Covenant.

The bent neck lady reveal is still the most chilling moment I've ever seen on television. Mike Flanagan is a genius and I think we're all very lucky to be alive in a time where he's creating incredible stories for our home screens.

In TVD the group finding out killing an original vampire kills their entire line was HUGE. Then in Originals finding out Fraya was alive and their aunt had a magical right to Klaus child was another game changer
@madinatuleshova62922 ай бұрын
as much as I love TVD, those storylines didn't seem big enough to create a pop culture moment. I'd say the biggest was The Originals (villians becoming SO loved, they had their own spin off).

Every season from The Good Place has some twists that keep the show fresh, not just that infamous season 1 finale.

The Ward reveal should have been top 5 mainly because it changed the whole dynamic of the show. The first half was simply a monster of the week type show and it was very hit or miss. Many fans found it boring. By the time that twist came (it aired the week Winter Soldier was released) the show stopped it's villain of the week formula and became a more serialized action show which it remained as for the rest of the series.

I think showing Ted's wife dying in the finale and Robin and Barney divorced was the worst finale I'd seen in a long time, and it also changed the entire dynamic of the series. I. Hated. It.

A shocking twist in Moon Knight! Just when things seem clear, the reveal of a third personality changes everything, making viewers question reality and the protagonist’s identity.

So the Greys' twist was far from original. Years and years before, ER did this with the Omar Epps character getting hit by the L. We didn't know if it was a suicide attempt or not. He had no face. Carter didn't know him. They need back up and call his beeper and that is when they realize it is him. Greys completely ripped off that storyline.

It was heartbreaking. And then that moment of realization for them, when they realize who it is, and they frantically stsrt trying to save him... then fade out... it was heartbreaking.

I remember watching that episode of ER and it crushed me. I’ve struggled with ideations for most of my life (I know to wait and let it pass, so I’ve never been in any danger…it’s just part of dealing with a neurodivergent brain), so I felt for Omar Epps’s character and how he was always overlooked and ignored. I’m glad he had a better ending as Foreman in House.

What about Bart Bass being revealed as alive in Season 5 of Gossip Girl. That was a hell of a plot twist. I remember watching that episode when it aired live and being in literal shock. I couldn't believe it. Bart Bass had been dead for years. Bart Bass being alive changed Season 5 because there were a lot of things to consider now that he was alive. For instance, Lily's marriage to Rufus. Bart being revealed as alive, completely invalidated their marriage. Lily and Rufus weren't legally married because Bart never died. Also Bart Bass being alive allowed him to regain control or Bass Industries and Bart kicked Jack Bass and Chuck out of the company, even though they had been running the company since Bart's "death"

If anyone is a sci-fi fan and love good plot twists, I can recommend the TV show ''12 Monkeys''. There are many great plot twists during that show's 4 season run.
@cagla979913 күн бұрын
I feel like most of these "twists" are for just the sake of surprising or catching people off-guard kind of things. The writers just wanted to be creative, but creativity isn't about that. For ex: with Game Of Thrones, although the show is set in a fantasy world with dragons and magic, the shocks and twists are all human behaviours and realistic. That's why up until the last two seasons, it was highly praised by the entire world. Realistic with surprising events. That's what I call a real twist. Just like The Good Place. It made us feel like we were watching a story about Elenor's deception but then it goes on to reveal exactly the opposite while actually having deep discussions about life, good-bad, well basically everything. Granted there are some shows on this list that I didn't watch so I might be unfair, but there are a few with the exact same thing I am complaining about. Like with HIMYM: creating a 9 seasons long show just to kill the person the entire story was focused on finding was just bad writing. Telling everything is fantasy, or dream or made up or revealing a character to be "bad or good", you name it... Don't just try to catch the audience off their guard and surprise them with something they didn't see coming. That's corny. I don't know if I made myself clear enough but it might be enough for just a yt comment :)

Ive never seen anyone mention this but when the boys meet chuck and they think he's just a prophit writing their story chuck says he shouldn't have because as an author he knows better but he wrote himself into the latest book.... Do you get it? He wrote himself into the story. God wrote himself-. Sorry I have autism and its always been a clever (what is it foreshadowing?) bit to me.

@SpongeJ2 күн бұрын
At the time of showing it aired once every week. We had been set up for three whole years with flashbacks. In our day and age of binge watching I don't think it would work as well (also lost was one of the first series to narrate its characters through flashbacks, now it's more common)

The Revenge plot twist didn't make sense and I hated how they handled David's reappearance. They should have brought back Kara who was his Emily/Amanda's Mom. I also didn't like that Victoria was the one who found him. I also wish that Nolan did tell him that Amanda was alive instead of having to lie to David.
