I played Red Matter 2 first with my PSVR 2 and unfortunately it has spoiled me! I don't understand how a team that is essentially 2 people can make a game with 4k textures running at native 120fps but no one else can! This game blew me away. It's a perfect 8hrs of twists and turns that really sticks the landing with a truly killer ending. I really hope other companies can start matching the amazing clarity and amazing sense support found in this game!

Seriously, what is the secret trick they know that other devs don't? I know the game isn't huge in scope so it can focus more on texture and resolution, but there are plenty of games even smaller in scope that don't look near as good

@@Brasslantern007 To me the bigger issue is Sony's lack of advertising and first party support! They have got to make a few built from the ground up first party big games! Also it's a crime they haven't ported Astrobot Rescue Mission! They should also buy up some vr studios and have them assist other devs with getting the most out of PSVR 2. It hasn't even been a year yet so I'm still hopeful about it's future though!

Understandable though from a business point of view. Psvr2 is just a luxury add on for a niche market. It has poor sales so it’s unlikely they are gonna throw tones of money at it.

I hope you try the option in GT7 Settings to use the DualSense as a gyro-tracked mini-wheel. It works far better than it should, and you might like it a good deal more than thumbstick steering.

@@PSVRUNDERGROUND Just FYI, Vertigo 2 issues include trophies not unlocking reliably and more serious progression halting bugs like the elevator ride in the lava level (being reported on developers discord / reddit by multiple early adopters) or one of the puzzles later in game which doesn't display needed information on one of the monitors (per PSVR Without Parole review). It is certainly an ambitious full scale single player campaign with boss fights that have been sorely missing from gaming (not just VR games), but I wouldn't consider its technical issues to be minor/medium. The silver lining is that these issues aren't impacting every player and the developer is being responsive on their discord about acknowledging and asserting that they will be fixing, and even offering workaround suggestions in the interim. Edit: Looks like new patch is out. Not sure what it fixes, but maybe the elevator bug that seems to be most bothersome issue in what released last night.

Unfortunately Vertigo 2 is broken at the moment… apparently they didn’t fix the bug they delayed the game for(it’s a NASTY one but it does have a workaround), and now more patches have introduced new issues. It’s a mess and it’s really unfortunate because it’s an absolutely amazing game otherwise. Hope they get it fixed soon, it’s very replayable and I have more I want to do. Guessing it might be a minute.

There is a lot of mixed opinions on which Resident Evil VR game is better, but personally I agree with you that RE8 VR is better because I feel like there is a lot more to interact with(items, levers, and barrels). When I played through RE4 VR I felt like I was pressing X all the time to interact with stuff. I loved that you had to use your knife or gun to break open the barrels but in RE4 VR you have to press X instead, which breaks the immersion for me.

Pretty good list, but it is leaving out many fantastic games that are great places for people new to VR to start with like Beat Saber, Pistol Whip and Synth Riders. It is including at least one casual friendly VR game in Walkabout Mini Golf, but there are some others as well (Puzzling Places? C-Smash VRS? Tiger Blade?). But I look at your list and the only one I haven't played myself is VR Skater, and I wouldn't really remove any of them from top games recommendation list except maybe Vertigo 2 (needs some patching). So hopefully next time you do a top 30, and I hope to see games like The Last Clockwinder, The 7th Guest VR, Barbaria, Ghost Signal, Among US VR, Townsmen VR, Until You Fall, Creed: Rise to Glory, Ancient Dungeons, Thumper, Garden of the Sea, The Light Brigade, and Tetris Effect: Connected to name a few to add to your consideration to get their deserved recognition and call-out. Still a great top 20 list. One of the best I have seen in terms of aligning with what I would recommend myself, especially to core / veteran gamers. Really need to try out VR Skater for myself.

VR Skater is so underrated and awesome, definitely grab it on next sale. And yeah, I had to make some tough decisions to keep it to 20, and there are definitely more games worthy of tons of praise.

Think a new No Mans Sky Expedition is coming very soon! Me and Captain Steve have just spotted that the progress bar for the quicksilver merchant in the old Anomoly has reset, but to 5 tiers! It's normally only 3! Could be the big new update we've been promised since the game awards, but I think it's far more likely to be the final arc of the 4 part story in the form of a new expedition! 🙂

I just played GT7 last night for the first time in a few months and was amazed all over again at the realistic look of the car materials and the fantastic sense of speed. If we had a dlc or something to increase its life span it would have definitely made my top list. In case you havent played beat saber its a must-own for vr users. I'm still relatively new to the VR space after having bought my PSVR2 in November but so far my favourite games are: Synapse Horizon Call of the Mountain Jurrasic World Aftermath Resident Evil 4 Resident Evil Village I also just purchased Moss and Moss Book 2 so I'm looking forward to being able to experience those games.

I finally played the Call of the Mountain free demo after buying my headset back in March ‘23, and it blew my mind. I knew it was gonna be a hell of a show piece, but wow. I see why they keep it at $60. Though it’s currently $40 - don’t know when that sale ends. The haptics are incredible, and of course the visuals are stunning. I didn’t wanna stop playing it when the demo ended. And GT7 is so much fun even with controller steering. I got back into that yesterday after a few months away and quickly burned through 3 hours of playtime. My favorite game has to be Saints & Sinners, though. And I haven’t even gotten to the second one yet. That’s a world I don’t get tired of living in.

I think it takes around 1-2 weeks. I highly recommend dreams, no man’s sky, and Star Wars squadrons. They use dynamic resolution so are enhanced graphics on PS5 :)

Psvr1 can only play psvr1 games and 3D Blu Ray movies (on PS4). If you have a PS5, No Man’s Sky, Blood & Truth, Star Wars Squadrons, and Dreams have PS5 enhancements.

I want to get into VR but I really hate the floating hands and shooting galleries. If I can't see my characters body or interact with the environment my immersion takes a nose dive. I want a game where I can create my character, go on a big adventure and stuff.

I also prefer full body IK, however at least having full arms does the job well. I used to really be against floating hands but it doesn’t bother me aaaas much anymore. There are lots of games with full body IK or arms, and there are definitely more games than just shooting galleries. Legendary Tales just came out which is like Diablo Souls and awesome physics based melee combat, and Wanderer is coming this summer and is gonna blow people away.

How old is your kid and what are they in to? Some people I know really enjoy Cosmonious High with their younger kids, it’s kind of like Very VR high school with science n good physics stuff to mess with. Moss is definitely a must, No Man’s Sky could be too overwhelming at first if you’re not used to Vr controls and adjusting settings. I’d recommend starting with simple games then shortly after transitioning to ones with deeper mechanics and stuff. Beat Saber, Synth Riders, Pistol Whip are great simple rhythm games to start with. For you, if you want an online shooter I’d go with Pavlov. If you’re ready for advanced hardcore stuff single player I’d go with Resi 4 and Resi 8. Red Matter 2 is also a fantastic sci-fi puzzle adventure game and really showcases high end graphical fidelity. Any games or genres your curious about lemme know, happy to help!

Finally picked up a ps5 and psvr 2. While I am impressed overall, the one thing about this headset that frustrates the hell out of me is sony's choice to use fresnel lenses. Ffs, they nailed it first time around with the psvr 1 lenses. It's the one thing I feel holds psvr2 back from perfection. So frustrating. And on the PC end most companies have moved on from fresnel but still mostly use LCD panels instead of oled. Whyyyyyyyy?? 😢

Supposedly , the old PSVR1 design, or in the case of the now available pancake lens designs on some high end headsets, they aren't suited to the the OLED/HDR output... I get your frustration, but after all, sony do also make lenses and consumer to cinematic cameras.... I guess im suggesting, they know optics... Surely theres a valid reason..... not just cost...

I found globular cluster solved most issues of vr2, like small sweet spot and comfortability. These are two of my major complains.

@@Rhythmattica I don't know much about the technicality of lenses, all I know is the psvr1 still holds the crown for me in terms of best spacial quality where I never even noticed the lense existed unless it got foggy. I can't imagine those lenses were more expensive than fresnel. Pancake lenses are a huge step up from fresnel but even they refract light in some odd ways in certain situations that I never saw in the psvr 1 lenses. If I had to guess why pancake lenses don't work as well with oled it's because they block more light and I guess lcd screens get brighter than oled to compensate for that.

Why Re 8 is better than re4?

It’s debatable…and most people think RE4 is better and I can completely understand why. The reason I chose Resi Village is because the VR implementation is better, so for cutscenes and death animations they stay in first person, but the real deciding factor for me was that some of Resi 4s best moments were kind of botched, like the pond fight and especially the jet ski escape. They’re pretty easy to forgive though because the rest of it is so amazing.

It's way more than just a climbing simulator and even if it was it would still be one of the best VR games ever made. I'm still waiting for someone to give me a solid list of 5 PCVR games that are better. I know HLA and Asgards Wrath are most likely on the list.

@@deadringer28 Alyx, Asgards Wrath, Stormland, Lone Echo 1 & 2. It’s pretty close with the Lone Echo series though. I think even some would argue that Edge Of Nowhere and BoneWorks are better games. Regardless, Horizon is up there with a lot of these. It’s truly an amazing game.
