Man excellent video, and fab to see quite a few British albums of psychedelia in your picks, i'm a Brit myself,a pretty different beast to the US & Canadian versions of psychedelia. More whimsical at times, more pop Inspired at times, more childlike at Times, more Studio Creations at times with effects like backward tapes,phasing/flanging and heavy compression , though the likes of Sam Gopal shows a darker side of English psychedelia. ALL great picks : The End -Introspection, though complete in mid 68, didnt see release till December 69, near a full 18 months because of Allan Kleins Stones business takeover. July-Tom Newman once thought of this album as an embarassment in his musical career,it seems in later years, he was far more accepting of its value in the realms of psychedelia. Blossom Toes -We Are Ever So Clean, This is a Pepperesque excursion with the kitchen sink thrown in, maybe too much going on, produced by Ex Yardbirds producer/manager Giorgio Gomelsky, and owner of Marmalade Records , their follow up album "If Only For A Moment'sounds Like a different band, much heavier and less Pop Inspired. The Gods-Genesis,Fab to see someone rating this little mentioned outfit, The Gods had some well known players go through their ranks, which unfortunately is more known than their albums,i prefer their second album "To Samuel A Son"it's more pop/psych Inspired than the proto prog of "Genesis", though both albums are great, though there IS a third Gods album, under the name Head Machine with an album titled"Orgasm", this is a heavier organ laced piece of that psych/prog crossover sound that was happening in the UK around 1969/70 Andwellas Dream-Love & Poetry.This Irish group who travelled to London made this excellent piece of magical psychedelia, its near the top of psych albums to come from the British Isles, unfortunately the following 2 albums under the name Andwella, are disappointing in comparison, nothing as mind blowing or brain scattering as Love & Poetry.A real one off from this group Sam Gopal-Escalator.The dark,seedy and menacing side of English psychedelia, with no full drum kit but tablas galore mixed with heavy ditorted guitar, with Lemmy of course in this band, like most UK psych bands at this time, didn't stay together long.

Wow! What a killer comment! So sorry it took me so long to get to it! I’ve been absolutely exhausted from working 10-12 hour days. Man I love UK Psych so much that my new video is all UK Psych! Thanks a ton for all the album factoids! I live for that stuff! Sometimes the stories behind the albums are almost as interesting as the music itself! I ended up showing the Head Machine LP in my new video! I love that record! You are so right about Brit Psych being a vast cornucopia of sounds That’s what I think attracted me to so many of those albums! Always interesting to listen to! I need to check out that other Blossom Toes LP as it sounds right up my alley! Also need to listen to the Gods other record as well! Thanks for the amazing comment! Appreciate ya watching! Peace ✌️👽

Hey man. You know this is right in my wheel house. I've been obtaining a few of my grail records this past week, will be showing on Instagram beginning middle of next week. I was drinking Negra Modelo a couple of weeks ago, been laying off the suds due to stomach issues. Orphan Egg is top notch, as is The End. That pair goes for mega bucks for OGs. The Mothers first 5-6 lps are a must. I found a mono press of that Clear Light lp last year at Goodwill for $2. Greylock Mansion you introduced me to, it's a wig out! Love it! I told you the story of me passing on Mighty Baby for $20.00 like over 15 years ago? Damn, man! I'm dumb! Tea Company is essential psych, in my opinion. I was fortunate to obtain The Baroques OG at the record store that I work part time at when they need me, they pretty much paid me with that album after working the weekend. I gladly accepted that! Both Blossom Toes lps are fantastic! All of West Coast Pop Art Band's records are worth owning. Early Floyd and Syd Barrett solo lps are essential. Sam Gopel I still haven't pulled the trigger on for some unknown reason. The David is definitely a mainstay in any psych collection. I have to get that Bow Street Runners, it's great. I'm holding out for an OG. Plastic Cloud is outstanding, so good each and every spin. Captain Beefheart is an acquired taste, like Zappa, and I'm a big fan of both. Love Forever Changes has to be in the top 20 all time. Mind Flowers by Ultimate Spinach is the psychedelic national anthem, no doubt. The first two Damnation lps are great, the third one is okay. July may be the greatest psych album of them all. It's stellar straight through. Gandalf: it speaks for itself. Great video, great selections. I hope you and wife are feeling better and all that. Have a great week. Looking forward to your far out finds. Peace.

Hey David! I knew you’d dig this one! I have been rediscovering a lot of records that I listened to in the 80-90’s and so I’d been showing a lot of that stuff recently but it seems I was drawn back into the distant past of 60’s psychedelia while having a smog session in the Cosmic Realm So now I’m right back in the thick of the acid rock scene! It started with that Plastic Cloud LP I was like damn! How were these guys not more well known? It sounds amazing! Same thing with that Gandalf album Just dreamy trippy satisfaction! I was lucky to land an OG of Tea Co. at a local RS I walked in and it was right there in front of the New Arrivals bin I couldn’t grab it fast enough! I need to explore Zappa/Mothers stuff a bit more as I only have RE of Freak Out & Hot Rats. A few years back I went back to Iowa for a visit and went out to some of my old record haunts and I seen an OG copy of Mighty Baby on the wall for $125 which I thought wasn’t that bad but I just couldn’t swing it so I settled on a $45 sealed OG copy of Stark Naked which wouldn’t hurt my wallet quite as much LoL! Thanks a ton for watching and I’m so glad you were into it! As far as the family and our woes we’re getting there day by day! Be well my friend! Peace ✌️👽

Great video Brian, Iv been listening to that July album a lot on streaming lately, it’s awesome! My local has a used copy of the reissue for 40 which seems steep so I haven’t bit the bullet. Gotta find that tea company album too, I listened to it on KZbin a while ago and really really liked it. Have you heard Devos cover of morning dew? They did it in the 90s. It’s pretty rough I don’t care for it
@cosmicvinyl293719 күн бұрын
Hey George! Wow cool to hear that you’ve been into some of the trippy stuff! That July album is so good! It’s just ridiculous that a used reissue is $40! That just shows how the prices of vinyl are getting out of control I mean I get that originals are going to be spendy but a reissue should be affordable not expensive. But in reality that’s probably the going price on that record I was fortunate enough to get my copy a few years ago for around $25 new. Yeah I played that Tea Co. record the morning I shot the video and I had forgotten how good it was! I have not heard the Devo version of Morning Dew I’ll have to stream it So are Devo calling it a day and retiring? Man they are always going to be legendary in my book! Clear Light - One of my favorite all-time albums. I got to see the band when they opened for HP Lovecraft (pretty sure it was within a day or two of when the live album by HP Lovecraft was recorded). "Black Roses" received a bit of airpllay on the Top 40 station I listened to. I became familiar with the rest of the album from the FM station I also listened to. For a TOTALLY different take on "Mr Blue," check out the wersion by the writer, Tom Paxton on his album "Morning Again." That and several other tracks from the album were being played by the above-mentioned FM station during the same time period. Gandalf - If your copy is on Jackpot Records, it should be legit. They licensed it for Record Store Day a while back and have made additional copies (black rather than colored vinyl) available on their website at least a couple of times. I bought a copy a few months ago. While I definitely like it, it doesn't have the nostalgia factor. The only reason I was even aware of Gandalf at the time of original release is because I purchased a 7-inch 33 1/3 Capitol promo with a track from each of four then current albums (Bob Sege - The Last Song, Stained Glass -Farenheit, Hedge & Donna - He Who Must Die and Gandalf - Golden Earrings. I bought it for the Stained Glass track. Stained Glass were a relatively local band and played frequently at local free concerts.

It's pretty safe to say that I've never even heard of most of the albums you show. I would say I'm happy with my colllection. Except then why am I finding so many albums I "need" to buy? Arriving today: a new Guess Who album released in 2023 and a Sundazed 2023 release of recordings by The Mojo Men (this has different tracks than the French compilation I have, which has all the tracks I actually remember hearinng). Great list. And great pick me up from an otherwise utter shite week. Super jealous of your Trolls, David and Tea Company (3 of the 4 still on my hit list - other is South St. Stephen). The other Blossom Toes lp is good too: harder than that 1st one. Baroques is a fun one - pair their Bicycle tune with Tomorrow's "My White Bicycle": who'd have suspected there was a bicycle hooligan genre! Love Plastic Cloud (another good Canadian psych band is The Collectors - who went on in the 70s to deservedly fill the bargain bins under the name of "Chilliwack"). July put a few nifty lps as Jade Warrior in the early 70s. As usual I look forward to your next.
@cosmicvinyl293720 күн бұрын
Hey Malcolm! I appreciate the kind words my friend. While I wish more of these were original copies I’m still feeling pretty good about having the reissues as they’re so good. I have a St Steven psych LP I’m not sure if it’s the same record you’re talking about or not but it’s pretty damn cool! Isn’t there a story about LSD and a “white bicycle”? I think there was this Swiss chemist like 80 years ago who accidently discovered LSD by ingesting a small amount of a derivative of ergot fungus and he became strangely disoriented while riding home from his lab on his white bicycle. Dr Albert Hoffman had discovered LSD! So I guess I always thought that was the psychedelic music/bicycle connection! I could be wrong Feel free to fact check me! LoL! “Fact Check” is now part of our vernacular after the recent whirlwind presidential campaign! Haha! I think LSD enthusiasts actually celebrate Bicycle Day on April 19! Kind of like how weed smokers celebrate 4/20! Geez how did I get on this rambling subject LoL! Anyway yeah I think I have a Collectors album or 2 I know I have the Grass & Wild Strawberries LP for sure Yeah I dig those guys Thanks again Malcolm! Always appreciate the hang out! Peace ✌️👽

@@cosmicvinyl2937 Crap. Looks like my long-winded repy reply got zapped. Al Hoffman was the acid doc - but unlike the baroques' and tomorrow's cyclists, he was digging the colors rather than doing crimes :). Can't imagine a LSD-day. Would have have loved that, though, many years ago! I have that St. Steven lp as well (the guy went on to form the punk band Nervous Eaters (some nifty tunes like, "Just Head", and "You Smell Like Fish"). One St. Stephen is psych lp from 1975. Private press originals are impossible, and even the recentish reissues will cost you an arm and a scrotum (grift is in the air, speaking of the election). I don’t know that Greylock Mansion or The David. I haven’t been able to find a copy of Andwellas Dream. Plastic cloud is a favorite. I recommend Captain Beefheart’s 2nd album Strictly Personal and the Legendary A & M Sessions. The A & M Sessions is his first two singles and one unreleased track.

Hey Rich! That Greylock Mansion is just some weird trippy songs about Spiders and UFOs and all kinds of far out stuff. The singer has a unique style for sure. I bet they still have copies on the Lysergic Sound Distributers website The David is also cool psych in the vein of like Tomorrow I seem to remember you showing that Plastic Cloud in a video of yours I’m not sure but I’m wondering if it was a video that you shot in your bathroom after having beers during a live stream LoL! I could be wrong tho! I just remember you speaking highly of it and as soon as I seen it like a week or so later I grabbed it up! Great record! Loved your 20 US Bands and UK Bands too. Peace ✌️👽
Oh hell yeah I love that record! Great stuff! I may have to pull that one for a listen Who knows it may show up in a future video! Thanks for tuning in! Peace ✌️👽

Dude you are the positive force that we need right now Cosmic One. Not just the US, but the rest of the world is in need of some soul healing too as we wait nervously for the shit show that is about to happen. I toast you too brother 👍That was the most low key mind shields removal ever!! Orphan Egg's cover is hilarious. The End Introspection is killer! Freak Out freaked me out when I first heard it. I was not ready or in the right frame of mind! I have Clear Light too. Amazeballs! Greylock Mansion looks more like it would be medieval tunes. I have mighty Baby thanks to the Cosmic One. Are the Tea Company scone enthusiasts? 😂Didn't Vanilla Fudge cover You Keep Me Hanging On as well? Both Blossom Toes records are great. Andwellas Dream artwork is great. I think I first West Coast Pop on a Nuggets comp. Syd Barrett PF is the best imho. Relics is great too because you get all of the early non album singles too. Anything with Lemmy is must have. Do you think Bowie said "no I am The David!" Bow Street Runners cover is tripped out & that's saying something amongst these. I have Plastic Cloud and holy shit it's good. I think the early Beefheart is my favourite. I love Love!! I saw Arthur live in the very early 00's. It was amazing. Ultimate Spinach, another band the Cosmic one got me onto, but I can't find that one. "I love the coloured stuff" 😂July is friggin' awesome! Believe it or not July is the favourite 60's band of the guitarist from that English band The Horrors. I got the RSD Gandalf....woah!!! Great list Cosmic One. Cheers...Ben 🥁🥁🍻🍻😎😎🎸🎸🦍🦍☠☠👹👹🧨🧨

Howdy Hi there Ben! Always love your comments! Reading them always brings a smile to my face! First the Mindshield Removal sitch Were kinda trying to scale back a bit for times sake Especially when Im showing 20+ albums and trying to keep it under 30 mins LoL! Gonna get serious for just a minute. I am absolutely terrified at what’s happening to our Democracy. There are so may sinister & nefarious things going on behind the scenes and Trump hasn’t even taken office yet! Am I crazy for being worried that Elon Musk the richest man in the world who has complete control of his own media outlet with which to spread lies and misinformation now has complete access to the most powerful office in the world? Something big and bad is brewing and not only will the American people suffer but perhaps the world will as well! Scary stuff my friend. Anyway I think Bowie would take issue with the David as Bowie is THE David! Right? I’d say there was probably a few bands that have covered You Keep Me Hanging On. Here’s a cool factoid. Vanilla Fudge covered the song and Carmine Appice was the drummer for VF Then later the song was covered by Rod Stewart on his album Foot Loose & Fancy Free on which Carmine also played drums! He was the drummer for Rod at the time. Not sure why I find that so fascinating Haha! The early Zappa & the Mothers stuff is so cool Speaking of Zappa I wonder what he’d think of what’s going on in the American govt? He was quite outspoken in his opinions concerning politics & the govt. I think I may take a stab at the Top 20 American Bands this week! Stay tuned! Peace ✌️👽

@@cosmicvinyl2937 DON'T be surrounding yourself with doom, gloom and danger, what is there to fear after the momentous failures of the last 4 years, including 2 wars,rampant Crime, millions of illegal migrants being flown around the US, your OWN money going less further, your taxes going up,prices going up & the increase of censorship and cancellation of American Citizens & Lets not mention the crazed weaponisation of the FBU,CIA & DOJ! Yet you fear the future with a new administration that is pushing for peace, and to end the Russia/Ukraine conflict, and also settle the middle east conflict,i DON'T see the Biden/Harris administration pushing for this! , i'm confused as a Brit looking in to see why you & other Americans want more of the same chaos that Biden/Harris have given you so far? Including escalation of the Ukraine/Russian conflict in the last few weeks of their administration? That IS crazy. Your legacy media like ours in Britain IS Corrupted, and has been feeding the people lies for years including the absolute demonisation of presidential candidates based on personality rather than policy. I wish YOU and every human being in the USA peace, Love & understanding, and STOP the fear and division that has been rampant in the USA, with nefarious forces using the legacy media & the internet to sow this division and of course using a corrupt and broken political system to enrich those in power....... whether you like it or not, the incoming administration has vowed to stop this corruption,as the 47th President is NOT a politician, or indeed part of the Washington DC Establishment, Surely this is better than the same old stuff?? You have Kennedy vowing to eradicate poor food regulators and the hold pharma companies have over the powers in Washington.......... whats to fear guys?? This COULD be a new start that the US needs, surely thats good? As for the fear of Elon Musk, its laughable, more options for open discussion is GOOD,not bad, So those wanting to shut down X and target Elon Musk are the Ones Who are the Danger, ANYONE who believes in censorship are the oppressors, not someone with a platform who gives people the Freedom to talk, while the same people who fear Elon Musk say NOTHING about Mark Facebook meta and their years Of stifling Freedom of expression and indeed cooperating with government powers to indeed censor people. Just look at the Twitter files to open your eyes to just how much the legacy media, the hitech giants in Collusion with government have been operating under the Biden/Harris regime .. its frightening!! Seriously you have nothing to fear, just stop listening to political hacks on the TV, the media and political idealogues, as that IS their job, to sow division, and cause fear. Gandalf was reissued in April of this year. Surprised Kaleidoscope (UK) - Tangerine Dream nor the Psychedelic Sounds of The 13th Floor Elevators. I thought Clear Light sounded too much like Love. I would also like to mention Paper Garden - The Paper Garden, The Freak Scene - Psychedelic Psoul, and Fort Mudge Memorial Dump - S/T.

Yeah I know that Gandalf LP was reissued earlier this year however the reissue I showed here I obtained over 2 years ago at my local RS. Not sure if maybe it was an unofficial release or maybe there was even an earlier reissue What I do know is that I’m happy to have it becuz I love it! Dude narrowing all the psychedelic albums in my collection down to 20 records was a daunting task. I must have rearranged, added & took away so many records before settling on this line up. My brain was scrambled Haha! I dig all those LPs you mentioned and I’m sure I flirted with the idea of adding a couple of them but after taking into consideration which ones I listen to the most these were my choices. Thanks for tuning in! Peace ✌️👽

I've been eyeing that Boston Tea Party for awhile, but I just don't see it in the wild. Orphan Egg is another I want to get. Have that The End album, same pressing as yours, excellent stuff, I like the second album of out takes too. Love the Clearlight album, found that one a few years ago, but mine just has a regular inner sleeve, not the one with the picture of the band like yours. Still haven't got the Greylock Mansion LP, but one of these days........ I have that Baroques LP, and it's fantastic, Blossom Toes is also pretty cool, they did a second album that sounds nothing like We Are Ever So Clean, it's more of a hard rock sound. Andwella's Dream has been on my want list since forever, cool psych. I have that the David LP, bought on your recommendation. Sam Gopal is awesome! Bow Street Runners is a good one, great garage psych. Man, you keep bringing the heat!! Plastic Cloud is great, finally scored a copy of that. Beefheart, Ultimate Spinach, Damnation of Adam Blessing, July all amazing albums I still need that Gandalf album. Fantastic showing Brian, hope all is well in the Cosmic Realm! Later Man....🥴😵😵💫

I know I’ve probably mentioned this before but there’s a copy of Greylock Mansion here in my area I’m going to grab it next time I go there and I’ll send it to you I feel like you’d be into it! If not you’ve got a cool album cover you can hang in your domain! LoL! I was confused about the Gandalf album release. I picked up that reissue probably around 3 years ago or so but then not too long ago I seen that it was reissued and they were saying never before released on vinyl reissue but yet somehow I had a copy before the last reissues came out Mine looks like the real deal or maybe it is an unofficial release Bot sure but it has a Capital label and sounds great! You have me curious about that 2nd Blossom Toes record Is it like the early 70’s Hard n Heavy stuff I dig like Lucifers Friend or Euclid Heavy Equipment ? Or Sir Lord Baltimore? If it’s like those albums then I have to hunt it down Haha! The only Beefheart I have is that Safe as Milk but I’d like to check out his other stuff but I’ve heard some of it’s not great or it’s an acquired taste. Any Cap Beef❤ recommendations? Vinyl Richie recommended Strictly Personal I’ve also heard someone say Mirror Man was also good Let me know! Glad you enjoyed the content I wasn’t planning on doing a psych vid but I was inspired after listening to Plastic Cloud the night before! LoL! Anyway have a good one Talk to ya soon! Peace ✌️👽

Hey there Cos, back on a heavy psych trip eh? Allied Records (also put out heavy hitters like Reign Ghost (first album) and The Folklords ) is the label of the original Plastic Cloud, I have an original copy of their only 45. Some fine finds lately including an original Paper Garden (Presents) 1969, an original Fields on UNI label from 1969, a Test Pressing (2023 reissue) of ultra rare garage/psych album Grave #1 by German band Grave, originally from 1975 and a reissue on the Bright Carvings label of acetate only (1971) rarity Gomrath, teenage psych band from the UK. The big find was an original copy of the Borealis album Sons Of The Sea on Audat label from 1973. From St. John's Newfoundland, it is the only psych album from the East Coast of Canada. Only 500 Borealis originals were pressed. Cheers.
