People are often struck when they see actors in real life: they are often short with small bodies and large heads. It makes sense that this body type is preferred in film with the emphasis on close-ups for acting.

Sometimes depending on your body proportions you can appear taller or shorter than you are. My husband is a tall 6’5” however he is torso tall which makes him appear shorter. He’s a teacher. From far away he looks around 6’2” 6’3” when you stand next to him, it’s a different story.

I was a big fan of Robert Conrad, so I was surprised when I walked by him one day, and he was 5' 8". (I was a big fan of "The Wild Wild West".) As always thank you so very much for the video. I also bumped into Richard Keel... he was NOT short. When I turned around to say "excuse me", I felt like I was looking at a belt buckle, and then looked up and managed to squeak out my apology, he just smiled, and in his deep voice said "it's okay". (He was 7' 2".) So I felt short.

I was so in love with Robert Conrad in the 60s!! Unfortunately, in 3rd grade I was 5 ft. 7 and knew even then that my height was going to ruin my chances with Mr. Wild, wild West! Been to Stallone’ s house years ago. He’s certainly short. I was only 12 or so that was the first thing I noticed. Met a couple others here but none surprising except Stallone since I was young and no internet then, to make shallow videos about height (that I’m now participating in😂) in early 90’s. He was known to wear elevator shoes too along with some others here.

I've always known that Tom is on the smaller side, but it's when you seen him with Zendaya that you realize just how short he is. My husband used to say he was 6 ft. We are exactly the same height, and I am not 6 ft. tall! After we were married for 30 years, he was 5ft. 9, same as me. I think guys feel pressured that their virility is sometimes based on their height, and not on how they do the horizontal tango....I would like to tell every guy that height doesn't really matter, but I was very self conscious about being too tall as a kid, so I get it, height is a weird thing people make judgements on.

I would argue that for the females, anywhere from 5’ 1 to 5’4 would be more normal a height for a female than say 5’6 or higher. Although I’ve always been jealous of those girls and wanted to be taller than my 5’3 For guys I would say anything below say 5’10 would be considered short but more frequently we’ve seen the average height for guys be more like 5’6 to 5’9 and taller guys to kind of be the outlier

Years ago hubs and I were in a Planet Hollywood and they had Stallone’s Rhinestone costume on display. We were absolutely floored at how tiny it was. This was before the Internet when you could easily check a star’s height, we both figured he was at least 6’. Not only was he short but he was TINY. I don’t buy that he’s 5’8. I’d say shorter. And the whole world knows there is NO WAY IN HADES Tom Cruise is 5’8”, unless he’s got his lifts in his shoes. And sanding on an apple box (there are photos of that. Cruise always stands on a box in scenes.) People that have been around him say it’s closer to 5’5”. I’d wager 5’4”.

I was surprised Michael J. Fox isn't on this list. I stood next to him back in the early 90's and was easily a foot taller than him. I stand at 6'2. But not only was he short, but he was just tiny period, like he couldn't have weighed more than 115 lbs or so, maybe even less.

For years, I heard Tom Cruse was 5’4. How in the he got more 4” in his height. Possible by jumping off of cliffs and plane fighting. As for Prince. Sad he wore his heals for so long and too often. It that damaged his hips. Unfortunately, his many surgeries lead him in taking medical prescription fentanyl, which led to his death. I don’t think I had ever seen Prince wore flat shoes when performing. I wish he embraced his short stature.😢RIP Prince❤️

In the early 90s, my husband was working as a sound engineer at Larabee Studios in West Hollywood, and I helped out at the front sometimes, because it was so fun, and Prince came out of one of the rooms and man! Was he TINY!!! He was wearing high heels, and his hair was in a high pompadour. To work in! I don't know how he could stand in those things all day, high heels practically ruined my back, I wore combat boots after my 20s...

It's interesting that people focus on the height of short men like myself (5'-5") and note that the average American height is 5'-9". Yeah, well, the average weight is 197.9 pounds with a 40-inch waist. Should I be depressed if I'm not average? The average American woman is just under 5'-4" and weighs 170.6 pounds with a 38 inch waist. We should not be too concerned if we are under average height. I think that we've got bigger, I mean smaller fish to fry, I mean broil.
