Gretzky’s - and professional sport’s - greatest record is his point totals in his six prime seasons. No player has score 200 points in a season, except Gretzky. From the 81-82 season through the 86-87 he topped 200 points four times and in the two he didn’t he hit 183 and 196. So the record is he was able to AVERAGE over 200 points for six seasons, or roughly a third of his career while no one else to play the game ever reached that level. To put that in perspective, that would be like someone averaging 104 home runs for six years in a row.

out of all the listed records, would say hamilton's record be actually breakable with how dominant verstappen and red bull are. although lewis is still racing, age wise u would not expect too many years left while verstappen is just 26, could easily go another 15-20 yrs i reckon and with how f1 seem to keep adding races to the calendar. yup that record i would say is still doable if the domination continues.

Jahangir Khan had won the World Open title six times, and the British Open title ten times (1982-1991) and is widely regarded as the greatest squash player of all time. From 1981 to 1986, Khan was unbeaten and during that time won 555 consecutive matches- the longest winning streak by any athlete in top-level professional sport as recorded by Guinness World Records. Unfortunately, he is not mentioned in this pro American/Canadian/European records list.

Tom Brady, 7 Super Bowl wins. Why is this not even in your top 20? And a record that most people forget about: Connie Mack's record of 3,948 career losses as a manager. A manager would have to lose 100 games a year for 40 years to break that record, and I suspect most owners wouldn't put up with that (unless you were Connie Mack and owned your team).

Another team could theoretically come along and dominate the World Cup over the US. Remember that, on the men's side, Brazil didn't win their first World Cup until over 20 years after the tournament's inception. Had anyone in 1950 said Brazil would one day stand alone in World Cup victories, they'd be laughed out of the room.

Funny how this is supposed to be about sports yet we find mostly those that are played by North Americans and nobody else. 1. Bobby Fischer's 19 game winning streak in Chess. 2. Sachin Tendulkar's 34,457 international runs in Cricket. 3. Donald Bradman's test average of 99.94 for anyone with at least as many games played. 4. Just Fontaine's record 13 goals in a single football world cup. 5. Shahid Afridi's longest six in cricket history of 153 m. 6. Muttiah Muralidharan's 1347 career wickets in international cricket. 7. Real Madrid's record extending 15 UEFA Champions Leage titles.
@nkyende5 ай бұрын
1. That's breakable 2. Even though a lot of those runs were on flat surfaces, I agree, he's amazing. 3. He only played against England, not enough global talent to test him. 4. He scored against plumbers and mechanics. 5. There's no "longevity" in that record, it's a once-off stroke, so it's definitely breakable. 6. The "ball chucking" allegations dampened that record. 7. Not impressive when you can buy your way to a championship.
@foodsafari-rj3uq5 ай бұрын
@@nkyende 1. If it was breakable why have the likes of Kasparov or Carlsen, who in their primes have been most poised to do so unable to? 2. Many of Tendulkar's runs have come on turning, seaming and skiddy wickets. The only truly flat wickets were in Pakistan. 3. Doesn't matter who he played against as long as it's an international and recognised record. It's not like any of his contemporaries did it, be it against Australia or England. Besides he did plat tests against India, South Africa and West Indies as well. 4. Go check your facts and be that as it may, none of his contemporaries managed such a feat. 5. Nobody has even come close. Precisely because it's a one-off it's highly unlikely that it will ever be broken. 6. Those allegations were propaganda and did not damage shit. Just an excuse for the Aussie and English cheats because they couldn't stomach his skill. 7. Yet, United, Barca and Liverpool which have comparable worth have not won as many.
@nkyende5 ай бұрын
@@foodsafari-rj3uq My argument isn't against whether the records are impressive or not (except for numbers 3 and 4 which are inflated). 1. I think there will be GMs greater than Kasparov and Fischer ( Magnus for 1) that will win 20 in a row. 2. Again, Sachin is the Goat, I won't argue further on that. 3. This one is inflated, don't believe me? How many of the greatest bowlers of all time did he face? He didn't face the windies pace attack of the 80s, or the Pak pace attack of the 90s, or the spin Bowling of PAK and IND. The type of comp you face factors into your success. 4. Point above stands, Pele once scored 23 goals in a game, no one with serious futbol knowledge takes that seriously because of the comp he faced. 5. All I meant was, with the emergence of T20 and the size of cricket bats these days, it's a very breakable record. It's impressive, but breakable. Brett Lee held his record for almost a decade before Afridi broke it. 6. Record probably won't be broken, partially because test cricket won't be as prominent in the future, but the bowling action will always come into question. There's a reason Warne is regarded as the greatest spinner by most pundits. 7. I'm not just talking about recently, Madrid have been buying their way to championships since Di Stefano days. Look at the array of Ballon d'or winners that have worn a Madrid Jersey and tell me money wasn't at the centre of it. Barca have atleast had a spell where they created an identity and developed players that grew into that identity and won. Madrid have just bought other teams superstars.
