@vflower3655Күн бұрын
I really respect Brad for this tbh because everyone always just praises Ado no matter how terrible she sings a cover because she has a unique voice. Ado has a good voice, like I said, it’s unique, and I like her vocals in the songs made for her by other producers but I just can’t stand some of the covers she puts out because of the constant completely unneeded dramatic changes and annoying vocals she makes in them
@vflower3655Күн бұрын
@@YuiTachibanaVTAdo does not write her music, it’s crazy how manyof her English speaking fans don’t know this. The music is usually made by popular vocaloid producers. Ussewa was made by Syudou, Odo and Show were made by Giga and Teddyloid, GiraGira was made by Teniwoha, Rule was made by maretu, etc.

@@nickhughesfitness I personally was a fan on his Escape The Fate album. I sometimes check out new Falling In Reverse just to see what he's currently doing, and it's usually pretty garbage. Liking music in a similar genre (post-hardcore/metalcore) means that hearing about him is somewhat unavoidable, so I usually do know when he's releasing new music.

There's a lot to be said/criticized about Djesse Vol. 4 but it's not a nu metal switch-up, it's Willow over Arch Echo (one of my favorite jazz fusion/djent instrumental projects.) THe talent for the switch-up was there, it was just poorly placed imo. Otherwise, broadly agree, excellent list!

Djesse 4 has the same problem as a lot of prog metal and jazz for me - I think Jacob is clearly a brilliant musical mind in terms of theory but it just doesn't translate into songwriting that I want to listen to. For a more specific example there's a popular short/tiktok of him demonstrating a 2-3-4-5-6 polyrhythm with each of his fingers on one hand tapping out a different beat. And the skill of that is *incredibly* impressive to me but at the same time it's like...so what? It's a cool novelty but does it actually sound good in the context of finished music? As for what I've heard from Djesse 4 itself a lot of it just seems to be strange for the sake of being strange. To the point in this video about the odd switch-ups, including the metal one on the first track, there's another Jacob clip out there from either an interview or a talk he was giving where he said something to the effect of, music has no bad choices (or maybe bad notes/chords), just choices that lack confidence. Which honestly I think is a pretty beautiful point of view, but again, that doesn't automatically mean that everything that sounds weird must have creative merit. IDK, maybe I just don't get it yet. To be fair, some of my favorite artists today are ones where the first time I heard them I could only think "what the hell is this garbage" before giving them another chance and having them grow on me (coming to mind are 100 Gecs, Clipping, Sigh, Death Grips)
