Problem is, it’s quite likely true… When you blow up on TikTok and people go to your concerts and only know the part of the song that is used on TikTok? It doesn’t look too good, and doesn’t look like people really care for your music?

Calling someone a one hit wonder isn't an insult. I used to think when people used the term they meant an artist with only 1 good song. But a lot of times when people talk about one hit wonders they're talking about a really good artist that was only recognized for 1 song. That Vanessa Carlton album is really good and I even hear songs like White Houses at retail stores. Same thing with Gotye, that album with Somebody That I Used to know is seriously incredible

I’m sorry but how did Blu Cantrell-Hit ‘Em Up Style get the spot for 2001? Never heard of the artist, never heard the song (the name of the song doesn’t even sound familiar. The Calling-Wherever You Will Go easily should’ve been the one for that year. The Hit ‘Em Up Style music video only has 63 million views compared to the over 500 million The Wherever You Will Go has. So it’s definitely more well known and recognizable and to say otherwise is criminal. I know u didn’t make this video but I’m just so mad.

Agreed. My Fiance and I broke up while on a trip to San Francisco, and during the excruciating 6+ hour drive back to our apartment, this song was played ad nauseam on different radio stations, so we kept having to turn the station. I still can't listen to that song. I even skipped it in this video LOL. I hope you have an awesome year! Cheers.

The early 2000’s were such a prime period for pop music. Blu Cantrel, Vanessa Carlton and Fountains of Wayne all have such great albums that should have been a lot bigger!

It’s so dumb how Blu Cantrell got the spot for 2001 when wherever you will go by the calling is literally right there. That song is by far bigger and to not put it for 2001 is criminal. I’ve never in my life heard of Blu Cantrell or this song of theirs (the name of the song doesn’t even sound familiar). And if u look it up the Blu Cantrell music video only has 63 million views compared to the over 500 million wherever you will go has. So yea it’s definitely more well known and recognizable.

The 2023 pick feels like Jumping the Gun! The picks from the 2000s-2010s are spot on and so nostalgic! The most recent ones... hm. I think it's too soon to tell about the artists! Also before we get started. That glad you came song better be on here from The Wanted. Never seen a boy band fizzle out that fast from a song that big. Howie Day is very underrated. Back in the early 2000's he sang a cover of All Along the Watch Tower which led into Halloween. It was a live performance and man... it was amazing. She says is also a great song. If you ever get a chance to go to one of his concerts... do it!! Calling Steve Lacy a 1 hit wonder is wild Calling Steve Lacy a one-hit wonder is beyond diabolical You can’t call someone a one-hit wonder after 1 year. I can’t hear a thousand miles without thinking of Terry Crews in White Chicks. The disrespect to Ella Mai, Steve Lacy, and Hozier Steve Lacy's disrespect cannot be tolerated Steve Lacy is NOT a one-hit wonder. He has been in the industry for a long time and has a dedicated fanbase Ella Mai’s 2nd hit “Trip” reached #11 on Billboard. Not sure why she's considered a One Hit Wonder. At least give Steve Lacy another year before writing him off. Lists like this just show how brutal the music industry really is. Takes so much for artists to keep their heads above water. And the disrespect to Steve Lacy must stop lol. Steve Lacy may actually be the next big producer so even if he’s not the artist he’ll be making hits nonetheless Fun fact 9 days lead singer is still married to the woman who the song was about. They are both currently teachers at the same school and have 2 kids. Nice people. Calling Estelle, Ella Mai, and Steve Lacy one-hit wonders is crazy to me. Also, Teach Me How to figure may have charted I’m 2010, but it came out before that because we danced to it at grad night in 09.“I Love It” is turning 10 years old and we still have that song. His still going strong... Vanessa Carlton was not a one-hit wonder. She had a follow-up hit with "Ordinary Day". I feel like Macklemore should’ve been on the 2012 list, because his career was a rise back in 2012, and then his fame was destroyed after he won 4 Grammys: 1 for Best New Artist and 3 in the rap categories (Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Performance) over Kendrick Lamar. He was utterly disappointed about winning over Kendrick because his album was better than Macklemore’s which won for “Best Rap Album”. Kendrick didn’t care and said he shouldn’t feel guilty and praised Macklemore’s win. Macklemore kept making more music until he fell off and lost his viral fame after breaking up with Ryan Lewis. Charli XCX’s status is not dead in her country than in the US.

Fascinating how sometimes groups only have one hit song in them then they dip out. Half the time they don't even like the song and almost don't put it on the album. Back in 2007 I made a very popular Action 52 video game review on KZbin which was super popular then I STRUGGLED to get another hit. I finally did but I thought I would be a one hit wonder for sure 😂 so I can relate.
