I was just having this very conversation with my folks in the day, we had a barbecue, and we talked about the 80s, we talked the music, movies, and the fashion. We discussed what is the best movies of the 1980s, here are the films that came up: Amadeus, E.T., Raiders of the Lost Ark, and we discussed what a great year 1987 was. Finally, I mentioned how Back to the Future is my personal favorite movie of the 80s, so yeah that’s my number one. I loved that conversation… 😊

Yeah, I think if I could have included the entire series, I would’ve put BTTF higher. It feels weird that it’s so low. But I really think that’s because I wasn’t allowed to put the whole franchise in as a collective. If I could it might’ve been 2 or 3.

Thank you! It was a tough list to make. So many films belong there, but I just couldn’t squeeze them all in.

Great list man and great video! I was happy to see The Land Before Time & The Little Mermaid on your list. Love me some Ghostbusters and that shirt is awesome! Winston is my favorite and deserves more love!

Had to give animation some representation this time. There were just too many from the 90s, so I left them all off. Yeah dude! Winston is the best! I know that role was meant for Eddie, but I think that would’ve ruined the movie in a lot of ways. Ernie was perfect casting and makes the film much more grounded, which is what I love about the movie, and him.

Thank you! Time to start watching! There were so many more that I wish I could’ve gotten on there. Would feel incomplete no matter what I included though.

Everyone loves The Breakfast Club more and I get that but it's always been St. Elmo's Fire for me. It just hits me harder emotionally. Maybe because I pretty much went through the same thing as Andrew McCarthy when I was a college! He performance always got me as real. More so than the performances in The Breakfast Club. Top list, some of the greatest movies of all time! Ghostbusters can't be beaten!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Yeah, I think that makes sense. the stakes are higher in St Elmo’s Fire. It does make for a harder hit in some ways.

Great list! I had trouble too. Major League and Christmas Vacation probably should've made my list along with a few others. Enjoyed hearing your thoughts. I think I've seen everything you mentioned besides Who Framed Roger Rabbit. I need to get that watched.

I actually debated Roger Rabbit quite a bit. While it’s fro the 80s, it really doesn’t depict the 80s, so in a way it felt like it didn’t belong. I hope you enjoy it when you do see it! I think it’s pretty great!

So many great ones there! I actually need to see a few - Das Boot, Paris, Texas, and Southern Comfort. I need to add those to my need-to-see list.

Cool list, unconsciously or not I don’t know but it seems you lean heavy into comedies, esp ones you connect with your Dad, which is really wonderful. I think my list would be a lot different, curious if any of these you think you forgot about or they just wouldn’t make the list anyway?: Empire Strikes Back, Raging Bull, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Evil Dead (1 or 2), The Thing, Blade Runner, Videodrome, Amadeus, The Terminator, The Fly, Princess Bride, Die Hard, or Do the Right Thing? Long list I know and it’s hard to cut but just got me curious!

Of those, Empire, Raiders (more so Temple), The Thing, Bladerunner, Amadeus, Terminator, The Fly, Die Hard, and Do the Right Thing we’re considered and I feel bad had to be left off, as we’re others, like today I was judging thinking about how Beverly Hills Cop should’ve been on there. Videodrome, I actually just forgot about. Was never big on Raging Bill. And I haven’t seen the evil dead films in full. If I didn’t I don’t remember much about them. But yeah, I think my dads love for comedy and showing me films had a big impact on this list. Lots of nostalgia not just for the movie, but also hanging with my dad laughing.

Hell of a list. Lots I haven’t seen before ( st elmos fire, uncle buck, dragnet, major league), a few I just watched for the first time this year (breakfast club, lost boys). I totally forgot about Land Before Time, I watched that on repeat as a kid, that shoulda been on my list 😂

I guess it goes without saying, but I definitely recommend the 4 you listen to that you haven’t seen. I can see Dragnet being a harder watch though, it ties itself to the show a fair amount … so maybe some of that knowledge is necessary? Not fully sure. Did you ever watch reruns of the show?
