Wow! Slinky Dog over Rock N Rollercoaster. That is a sizzling hot take. Also, I'm glad to see MK Space Mountain so high. I often hear both the general public and enthusiasts dismiss it as janky and inferiorly themed compared to its counterparts. But that layout is so good. And I still think the theming is excellent. Yes, other iterations are smoother and it is a family coaster. But it packs a punch and it's always a good time.

In a way for me Disney is a victim of the high standards it has set, in that cheap knockoff coasters that would just get a shrug at any other park seem almost insulting at a Disney park.
@CanobieCoaster9 ай бұрын
That's very true. Although I am not a big fan of mice at chain parks either.
@Lemonaidz79 ай бұрын
I mean that goes for almost any high standard park. I’m pretty sure if a wild mouse was just plopped down in the middle of Phantasialand people would be confused
@StamfordBridge9 ай бұрын
@@Lemonaidz7 Cedar Point is considered one of the top parks in the world and it just got a wild mouse. It’s a bit weird for such a crowded park, but not shocking. Disney is known for rides that are themed experiences, so I find that a cheap wild mouse at a Disney park is something shocking and disappointing. That said, I would put Phantasialand, Europa, Universal, and Efteling in the same category as Disney in this regard, as they’re all known for rides that are high-level themed experiences, unlike most of the rest of the parks around the world.

I'm surprised to see the Matterhorn rated so low. Every time I played Disney's Coaster on my computer, the judges made it sound like the Matterhorn was unbeatable? I was also surprised to learn all the Disney parks have as many as 25 coasters between them.

The Matterhorn is extremely important historically (and I’m old enough that I perceive the ride with far too much nostalgia to be objective), but my impression is that most younger coaster enthusiasts consider it a pretty low level coaster.

Matterhorn looks tame but it’s really crazy. It has really forceful turns and very minimalistic restraints- it only has a single seat belt. Plus the fact that it was built in the late 1950’s is nuts. I really like it, and it still holds up great to this day. Space Mountain is also great. It feels a lot faster than it is because it’s in the dark.

Canobie Coaster would say: Number 21: Indiana Jones et le Temple du Peril at Disneyland Paris. This is another off-the-shelf layout, but this one is very well-themed as you wind around an ancient temple. This keeps the elements hidden both on and off-ride. The layout is identical to the Pinfari looping zyklons that can be found elsewhere, but this one was built by Intamin. The ride is not the most comfortable between the hard restraints and quick directional changes, but it's tolerable if you lean forwards. This allowed me to enjoy the pops of airtime on the elevation changes and... A) the floaty vertical loop at the end of the ride. B) the very forceful vertical loop at the end of the ride. C) the floaty vertical loop midway through the ride. D) the very forceful vertical loop midway through the ride.

I went to Disney World last month and got to do every coaster but the sadly-closed Rock'n Roller Coaster and the Barnstormer. My ranking based on my rides from last month is 1. Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Expedition Everest (the only coaster I was able to do more than once, great ride) 3. Tron Lightcycle Run 4. Slinky Dog Dash (this might have been lower if I had gotten a day ride instead of a night ride) 5. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad 6. Seven Dwarves Mine Train 7. Space Mountain. Ranking Space Mountain in last place as the worst coaster in Disney World is probably a hot take, but my ride on it was the most forceless, roughest, and visually least interesting of any coaster I went on. There was no airtime whatsoever and the only force was how rough it was running. Even Seven Dwarves had more forces in the back row, plus the great theming and novelty of the swinging train cars. Big Thunder also failed to deliver any airtime despite my being in the last car, but it still had good laterals and of course the gorgeous mountain, and was nowhere near as rough. I think Space Mountain is in desperate need of a refurbishment, maybe even a retracking.
