omg these disasters are so normal! lol I can't think of an aquarist who didn't go through this. As you list it, the only thing I didn't do was gas my fish. My biggest mishap was flooding my apt cuz a washcloth fell in the sink while my python was going. This is a good vid

mine was getting an extra tank to get dwarf puffers...appartently it was a tank designed for marine fish and the light caused the algae to just...i can't even say it :p

My biggest fail was buying filter shrimps, and shrimps in general! i was a noob back then, and i only checked for ph... So after acclimatation i'd just put my shrimps in the tank, but they all died after one or two molts... Because i had forgotten about water hardness... So now im left with no shrimps and a bunch of eggshells in the tank, it was already too late when i added them but my nano corys love to hide in them so that's that i guess! Still kinda bummed i wasted 10 euros for nothing

i drained the water out of my 60 gallon to about 50% and i forget to lower my heaters. so when i was outside dumping a bucket of water there was a loud bang and lots of steam coming out of my fish room. killed 1 neon blue rainbow fish, 2 pearl gouramis and a Bolivian ram. to this day i still find pieces of glass in my tank.

3. Not finding a dead pleco til 2 or 3 days later and it poisoned the entire tank ! Lost like 1/3 of my fish 2. Summer time the tank temp would go up to 87 degrees Fahrenheit ! No fish died but damn ! 3. Using ich treatment, no fish died from the ich but the MEDICATION killed some scaleless fish !

if you properly fill your canister you will hear nothing.I fill mine, shake it, fill it again repeat until only a few tiny air pockets remain.

+LBJ Said 200 Years Yes, getting the air out of the canister significantly quiets them but that's not always easy to do. The Marineland Magnum350 I've found to be a particularly troublesome model. That damn thing had it's hose pull out of the clamps (my mistake obviously) but it's still not been a good experience.

AquaStudent Had the same thing happen with mine, hose pulled out. After that I got rid of very one of those "clamps" and went with black zip-ties, problem solved. Take a look at installing a purge valve on the top of your canister. A drill, a tap and a small 1/4 " valve will remove %99.9 of the air within a minute.

I tried de rimming my 10 gallon, while everything was still in the tank, and all the equipment was still running.. Ended up with a fracked 10g and a pissed of dad

killing whole tanks of fish multiple times a diff way each time...having the outlet of the canister submerged, using too much diy glutarldhyde, having to much fish in a 10 gallon tank,
