Hi, Dana! Your comments about persevering when discouraged, uncomfortable, or experiencing difficulty/ pushback reminded me of what word my mom constantly mentioned when we were young: fortitude. A lot of times the people who “make it” (whatever the goal is) aren’t necessarily the most naturally gifted or lucky; they are the people who kept going on the path towards achieving the goal when things got rough and others stopped.

Yes! Fortitude!! Perfect. Thanks for adding this. 👍

@LaurenKirk-sj7lk Fortitude is a perfect word! You just have to keep going. My Mom always told us that consistency beats intensity every time.

It was helpful for me today, too. I get very impatient for results.

I’m so glad you back Dana! I’ve learned so much from you during my debt free journey.

I was fortunate enough to retire at 58. I worked doing some fun part time jobs but got found it wasn’t worth the income tax I’d have to pay. I have found NOT working to be a joy. I have found volunteering, hobbies and recreation feeds my soul. Don’t knock it until you try it!

So glad you're back! Your videos are so helpful! But what happened to the little smiley face in your channel name? I always thought it was cute and unique!

Thanks! I’m surprised you noticed that!! 😊 I think it’s actually a Chinese character so I wasn’t sure if it was confusing to the algorithm. I might add it back.

As I make more money I contribute more to my Roth and 401k and it’s making me grow resentful because I feel I don’t have anything extra money to spend for myself.

I've been looking into ways to improve my portfolio, but it's hard to find trustworthy advice these days. With inflation rising again, I feel like I'm falling behind on my retirement goals. It's tough to balance short-term survival with long-term planning

I had a similar experience. Back in 2020, I took a hit when the market dropped during the pandemic. Since then, I’ve been trying to manage things on my own, but it hasn't been going great. It’s a bit overwhelming trying to figure it all out without expert help
@TeresaMichealsАй бұрын
I agree. I've been working with a financial advisor since 2020, and I return up to 15k every month, and I don't even have to lift a finger. Although I also think the reason I make this much is because I started with significant capital.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I've been managing my portfolio myself, but it's not working out. Do you have any recommendations for a good investment advisor? I could really use some help.

I can name many white males born in the sixties who are not rich. How many do you want?
@silmuffin86Ай бұрын
White male privilege doesn't mean that every while male is rich and never struggled, it means they never had the issue of gender or race prejudice against them. In the 60s women couldn't even have a credit card or a business without a male co-signature....
@DebtFreeDanaАй бұрын
Fair point! 😊 However, they don’t face the stereotype threat in regards to earning potential or career opportunities, and therefore have an advantage over other groups/genders. Thanks for your comment!
@wrigs4prezАй бұрын
The point is about privilege of being white, being a man and being born into a “luckier” generation. Acknowledging privilege is important in this type of discourse.
@singerjo5791Ай бұрын
I am kind of sick of the white privilege propaganda. Poor white kids didn’t go to college in the 1970’s. Black kids did…paid by the government. Tired of it!
