What a wonderful gift to still have his first fountain pen and to have those memories. Thank you both for recording the video.

Yes, it is wonderful! My mother gave me my first fountain pen in 1954! I lost it before I entered college in 1958!

I was waiting to hear which size nibs he uses. Just out of curiosity. Wonderful to hear that Mr Takeuchi connected with Fountain Pens when he started working with them. It's a very different experience. One feels the 'craft calling' when writing with a fountain pen, which obviously can be ignored (who has the time, right?) and it genuinely allows you to reconnect with your inner creativity, appreciation for beauty, perfection and workmanship. Despite the mechanistic processes involved in making a fountain pen these days, there is still craftsmanship required, and there is a history that seems to have more depth and breadth than a rollerball or ballpoint pen despite the minimal age difference - historically speaking.

It is so great to see someone with strong memories attached to each pen they keep. Wonderful passion! Thank you very much for sharing this.

What a charming gentleman; incredibly understated & self effacing - much like the pens that Platinum manufacture. I have the second (contemporary) model myself, but the first & last of Mr Takeuchi's are fantastic ! Great associative memories with those two beautiful writing instruments. Thank you, Joost & Mr. Takeuchi for sharing your incredible trio !

I like his comments on his boss “ he is thinking Pen, Pen, Pen - 24 hours a day 7 days a week”. I have some Platinum Fountain Pens as well as a Nakaya Fountain Pen. They write superb, Nakaya being outstanding.

Wow, fantastic. Mr. Masaharu seems like such a gentleman, but so focused too. I loved his pens as well! It gives me quite the dilemma, because I was considering a Platinum President model, but now I'm thinking; "If a 3776 is good enough for Takeuchi-san, the Vice President of Platinum, then it's good enough for me!" haha One slightly cheeky thought; I wonder if the President of Platinum actually uses the "President" model? No disrespect intended. I am simply curious.
