i'm an old honda rider, and then in 2008 i bought an 06 1200 sporty, rode 4 years, and traded it for an 07 softail custom. i was disappointed in the 96cid, and 6speed. plus it wasnt as comfortable as i thought it should be. gave it up in late 2013. in 2020 it was time to try again. i test rode a honda fury, a honda fb6, looked at several more bikes, but at 6'5 i dwarf a lot of bikes, yes the sporty was crowded, but oh so much fun. finally i found 2 bikes that caught my eye, an 07 white pearl fatboy, my issue with it was the sporty was white pearl, and the 96cid, 6sp. but for $1000 less, was a 2012 fatboy, 103b, 6sp, in tequila sunrise hd orange. they let me go for a ride, and i was sold. it has a lot of power, looks good as a one up, or saddle bagged out with the big passenger pad, and backrest. took me a while to get use to the orange. the only other harley that has my eye is the 2013 cvo breakout in green and gold, with the 110cid. i've looked at new bikes, harley, and honda, nothing. the new style fatboy is just a breakout on steroids. the m8's lack the thump of my big twin, and i'm 62, not lookinking to make payments for 5 or 6 years. like you i've been on 2 wheels for over 50 years. baggers are boring grandpa bikes. top end touring bikes are for r.u.b's. keep it simple stupid, is my moto. still love my hondas.

Corvette/Muscle Car or Prius. I’ve test rode a GW, and bought a 2021 Road King. No comparison for me. My feeling is buy a car if you going to buy a GW. I’m a minimalist, why I chose the Road King. Computers and I do not get along😂 With that said, it doesn’t matter what you ride, as long as you ride. I do see a lot of misguided hate for Harley and their riders🤷🏼 I don’t see it returned! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I’m planning on buying a 24 Street Glide for my 65th this year, keeping both my Road King and Slim. Maybe even learn to switch computer on! Ride safe brothers and sisters!

I have a 2020 street glide and love it. I have a few more years of payments, and it's mine. The only thing i have done is a stage 1 and different bars. I live in the northeast, and we have had a few decent days for riding, but the warmer days are coming.

Thanks for the video! I have to agree with you on all three points. As far as trading in, I tried that last fall thought I would see what a dealer that I bought the 06 RK from would give me on a over priced 14 SG $3500.00 is all and my old bike is clean and has too many upgrades to go over. It was hard to not tell them how I thought but I got out of there. I will keep the old girl and ride it some more, I just retired and have time to find a good deal if I want get a newer bike and sell mine on my own.
@johnkenneally466210 ай бұрын
You named exactly the upgrades I did to my 2010 RG, plus cams/oil pump. I contemplated a 2024, especially a CVO. However, wisdom kicked in and stayed with my current bike. Your commentary really reinforced the decision.
@williamhopkins350010 ай бұрын
Great video , if I could add a 4th reason it would be never get the first year after a major redesign. I learned the hard way with a 17 SGS with the new M8. Now it’s hard to sell based on the engine problems so I keep riding it. Hope the new ones are better. Peace out.

Could not agree more , have a 2012 street glide with a ton of upgrades , wheels front and rear suspension , paint ,seat , stage 2, and get a lot of compliments when out riding . Late last summer when i made up my mind i would sell it and use the money for a down payment on a new bike i was out for a ride and broke a valve spring on the rear . Had to make a decide what to do and ending up with a whole new top end , both cylinders , both heads , high wear items i.e. cam bearings , lifters and such . Now even though i might still get a new bike sometime i will always keep this one .

I own a 2020 RG, put a 131" crate motor in it and the woo-hoo factor is indescribable. The total cost was less than depreciation at trade in value and cost of the new RG. Downside is, there's no new fairing, but that's something I can deal with

Well, I hate to be on both sides of the fence, but I am. I have a 2015 Ultra Limited that has everything that I could possibly add. Wouldn't sell it, love it. But I also wanted an upgrade since I haven't purchased a new bike in 10 years. I pulled the trigger on a 24 CVO RG in legendary orange. Got it from Suburban HD just north of Milwaukee. Going to do a couple small upgrades, but that's the benefit of the CVO, don't have too much to add. Safe travels. We deserve a short winter.

Who is BrewCityRider? And no disrespect but, what is your age and what model Harley do you ride the most. The reason I ask is I am 69 years of age and haven't ridden a motorcycle in over thirty five years. Even though I've had five different model motorcycles, only one was a 1979 Harley 1200 Sportster. I now have a 2022 Heritage Classic 114 today and I'm just starting to get comfortable riding the bike. Are you feeling any discomfort while riding with heavier traffic congestion compared to an earlier time when the world was not so populated? I just want to ask a man with years of experience to gauge the time that I will be comfortable again. Good luck and be safe. Jim
