My first week in NY was in 2013 when I retired from the police in England. My son and I came for a week in November. We returned in 2014 in order to see the Thanksgiving celebrations - most English people have no idea what Thanksgiving is all about. I returned in 2018 with my new partner and her teenage sons. On every occasion I have rented properties in Weehawken. The Manhattan skyline views, walking along the Hudson at night listening to the waves lapping on the beach, getting away from the madness of Manhattan, Weehawken is amazing.

Other alternatives to live are: Union City, Jersey City, North Bergen, Guttenberg, West New York, Hoboken, Secaucus, Kearny, East Newark, Harrison, and Newark (near the Penn Station) if you work in Midtown Manhattan or Lower Manhattan and needs to commute there. And if you work in Upper Manhattan, a good alternative would be Fortlee.
@rentslave5 жыл бұрын
Don't move to Harrison.The illegals steal all of the parking spaces.At night,an out of town illegal picks them up for a night of DWI while you remain imprisoned at home doing your Macaulay Culkin thing..The Mayor and the Town Council won't get rid of them because they need the votes.

Really !! Lol o I have lived here all my life and I have to say that yes the views are perfect but parking is a headache , taxes are high , rents are expensive , property taxes through the roof and counting, traffic jams because of the Lincoln tunnel and the neighboring towns , ohh and some roads can not be accessed during peak hours of rush hour , must have a resident parking permit for your car or get towed away plus summons by police , infact any town on Hudson county is just expensive and the locals are being priced out which is a fact. Say maybe 15 to 20 years all of Hudson County will be the towns for the wealthy only . Good luck

Billion dollar views, super easy transportation by ferry or bus.. weekends you will get to NYC in 15 or less by bus, rush hour is rush hour so get over it. Some of THE best restaurants and much, much more. As a realtor for a decade plus in this area I will say it has always been a pleasure introducing this and the surrounding towns to New Yorkers & out of towners. Come by.. you'll love it.

Raised to age 5 1/2 in Weehawkin. Then Pops moved us to the suburbs where my 12 yr old brother who wanted to play football in Weehawkin could have died of boredom not to mention losing all his friends. -- We truly had a nice upbringing in small town America but no football @ the HSchool, & more cornfields, toads and grasshoppers than you could shake a fist at. Sometimes wonder how life would have turned out had I gone from that baby in the carriage on Bergenline Ave to a fully grown city kid.

My family has been in Weehawken since the 1860s. I have never considered myself living in the 6th borough of NYC.
@lollipopcorndog3 жыл бұрын
Weehawken is still pricy because squatters (settlers) try to beat the system by avoiding cost of living in New York Boroughs but commute to the city every day. On the bright side, it’s like an in between of everything. It’s cheaper if you have a roommate or two and either work two jobs or one good job.

Don’t move here, too much drugs, no parking, massive traffic jams from the tunnel, a bunch of empty storefronts and there is dog crap everywhere because apparently people who own million dollar homes like dog crap on their side walks. I lived my first 28 years just up the road, Blvd. East, from Weehawken in a town called North Bergen, even tho it's still Hudson County. Blame the Dutch settlers. We call that stretch of NJ, "the sixth borough." I spent most of my childhood and young adult years in Manhattan, not the burbs.
