I have to smile looking at this "Ned Rig", I grew up in Sarasota, family of fisherman some of the best known on the Gulf Coast, so I had my first canoe and fished by myself along the bay front at 5 years old (shrimp with my Zebco) (this was before Bay Front Island Park was even dredged and Marina Jack was City Pier (my grandparents' restaurant) got my first little 10' skiff with 10 hp Evinrude at 9 so I fished all the bays and creeks extensively. By about 1970 we used the Boone Bait Co. "Tout" Jig head with grub body, in mostly the "Trout" (3/8 oz.) size but also the 1/2 oz. Tiger size. This Ned Rig is nearly identical except the shoulders of the jig head on the Tout are slightly rounder. Boone still makes the grub bodies but the jig heads are more football shaped now. Anyway, Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Jack, etc. all the inshore bay species and of course especially Snook.....1,000's. No season, no license and places I see people fishing now I many times fished completely alone or with only a friend. Nice fishing knowledge here on your video......thanks for sharing.

@@shallowwaterguy4755 It was a good time to be there, stone crabs, blue crabs, large shrimp on outgoing tides, scallops by Anna Maria, in abundance. There were a few spots with sewage pollution though.

Cool stuff. These techniques remind me of my first deep delve into saltwater fishing in the 1970s. There weren’t many soft plastics being manufactured for saltwater, so I’d take straight bass worms, 7” or 8” long, cut them exactly in half and thread them onto a jig head. Although the worms were straight, they had pointed ends, so the cut end would abut the jighead and they ended up not unlike today’s MirrOLure Lil’John. They worked well for school trout, especially since I didn’t have a boat to chase fish with and often waded or fished docks under the lights at night.

They can be effective but I do prefer smaller profiles. Three to three and a half inches are my go to’s.
