A few years ago an idiot dumped a thousand pounds of ceramic floor tiles on my property. This jerk also threw a few bags of household garbage on top of the pile. That REALLY pissed me off. I searched the garbage until I found a medical prescription. I called the Sheriff's department who called the pharmacy to get an address and phone number. Apparently this much debris dumping is a felony. The deputy then called the dumper who quickly showed up to clean up his mess. Unfortunately for him I had already smashed the tiles into little, itty bitty pieces so it probably took him a lot longer to clean it up. Wamp, wamp... wamp.

I was an on duty firefighter called to a police scene once where the PD needed to ladder for a store building. On arrival, found out someone had tried to rob the store by entering through the roof and jumped down onto the store floor. The would-be robber attempted to throw the cash register several times up through the ceiling hole (his entranceway via the roof) to no avail. He was unsuccessful and exhausted. He also couldn’t figure out how to get out of the building after he gave up on the throwing idea. He didn’t bring anything to help him escape back up through the ceiling-like a rope or ladder. Guess he just was thinking he could get in without anyone noticing if he went through the roof on a weekend, jump down the 10 feet to the floor, get the cash register (not the cash itself mind you), throw the register back up the 10 feet through the ceiling hole one time and it would land perfectly on the roof (and not land back on him below). Never thought the thing would be heavy to throw or how to get out afterwards. He was still inside when the cops came after he set off the store motion detector alarm. (Oh, did I forget to mention the store had an alarm system?)

As a Norwegian, I was hoping you had our dumbest criminal of all time on this list, but unfortunately, you didn't. We had a reality show around year 2000 called "Baren" ("The Bar"). It was about a bunch of young adults running a bar on Norway's most famous street, Karl Johan, in Oslo. The participants never left the bulding, and lived on the floor above the bar when not working. This show got a lot of media attention. A burglar broke into said apartment when people were asleep, but got captured outside. He claimed he was innocent. The police then told him that 27 cameras (yes!!!) had filmed his face, and he STILL claimed it wasn't him, but of course that didn't help :) This story was on America's Dumbest Criminals as an international addition, so some of you American may rembember it :)

I work retail. One of our prolific thieves recently got arrested thanks to an observant customer noticing the guy at the local park. The thief sticks out like a sore thumb. He’s very tall. Like 6’4” to 6’6”. My husband, BIL and FIL are 6’5” m, 6’3”, and 6’2” respectively. When you are abnormally tall you get stares. Another prolific thief stole my cellphone when I tried to take his picture. My phone has a tracker. Police tracked it to a cellphone recycler that has cameras and requires ID.

I remember reading about a guy who was pulled over by a police officer. The man was obviously drunk. Just as the officer was about to arrest him, a collision occurred nearby. The officer told the man to wait while he checked out if anyone had been injured in the crash. The man saw his chance, jumped in the car, and drove home. He put the car in the garage and went to bed. He was awoken two hours later by the police banging o his door. He was arrested and asked where the car was. He opened the garage door and revealed the car.....with the blue lights still flashing!

I got 2 dumb criminal stories from my old city. 2 guys tried to rob a convenience store... that happened to be directly across the street from the police station, the cashier immediately hit the alarm. Cops surrounded the store just as the robbers left and were promptly arrested. Whole thing happened in under 3 minutes I think lol Story #2 This kid robbed a 711 but as a ruse(for some idiotic reason), filled out a job application for the store complete with all accurate information including address and phone number. He got picked up an hour later. Don't think he got the job 😂

I was at a CVS next to the police station in KY. A guy walked right by the manger and a cop, grabbed some stuff and shoved in his pockets and walked out. The cop said something and he just kept walking. Eventually being thrown the the ground and arrested in the parking lot. My best day ever!!!

I work at a jail and I always say we have jobs for a reason 😆 this one guy set his business or former business on fire for whatever reason and on the cameras, the cops noticed the guy was wearing a wig and hat for a disguise....the guy ended up going to the police department to report something (can't remember what) and they noticed a line on his forehead and his burned eyebrows (of course he denied being involved) 😂 they eventually searched his place and found a Party City bag with 9 wigs and 9 hats and the receipt inside said he had bought 10 wigs and hats....on his mug shot, you could literally see his missing eyebrows and the line from the hat/wig that he wore...it was hilarious!

I got one from my town, the guy tried to rob the town liquor store after it closed; the thing is though people were leaving a party for the police in town that were right there when he was planning on doing it. Who goes to the cops to complain about using drugs? That's like saying "Please arrest me.". If I was going to rob a house I would get in and get out quickly. I wouldn't take a nap.
