@@georgeandfriendsadventures5073 every song on eternal sunshine tells a story. I like those albums you listed but they all just have a couple meaningless songs. Random "baddie" and hook up songs there and then that don't tell a story, its just a song to me sometimes. And Lowkey the production or songwriting on those albums gets repetitive.

Thank u next is a great album, but it ends weird with breakup with your girlfriend I’m bored, which is a good song, but it doesn’t make sense to end that album like that. Actually Rosé is an artist who prefers ballad songs she released a ballad in 2021 after her first song On The Ground. So Her fans expected that the album will be full of ballads. Being her fan since 2022, I was also shocked at the release of APT. But two songs in particular, Drinks Or Coffee and 3am aren't ballad(I'm not 100% sure). I like ballads too,so Rosie was a 10/10 for me 😄

He listens to music as his job, I'm pretty sure he listened to the full album :D "Ballad" has a pretty loose definition, but after two or three full listens of the Rosie album, I would also describe it as ballad-y. The songs are pretty quiet and have that chill singer-songwriter vibe, most of the lyrics are about similar topics, and in general, all of the songs just kind of blend together in my mind. APT is very clearly different from the rest of the album, it's the one song that really stands out.

You saying she is only writing about her personal life is only to farm speculation and engagement is insane because the clear Occam’s razor take is she’s writing about these personal things because she is trying to express her emotions into songwriting, keeping it raw and unfiltered. She has always written personal songs, it’s how she copes with her emotions. That’s just an incredibly bad faith judgment of what the album is supposed to be saying. Also saying that if the discussion is about what the song is saying, that means the songwriter has failed to create a interesting song that I don’t know what you’re talking about because any type of media people want to discuss what they think it was about? Like when you leave a movie often you say “what do you think this part was about or what do you think was happening here?” aren’t these standard talking points? That’s kind of a crazy take because of course people are really asking what it’s about when the writing is the most personal and most specific she’s ever done. The songs are very complex and have a lot of layers to them, which makes them ripe to be discussed about, there are songs that I dismissed earlier that I’ve looked into and tried to understand more and it actually reveals a whole new layer of meaning to what she’s saying so that to me does not prove it’s a bad album and proves it’s a very good album you have to sit with and really take in to appreciate because once you do, you are rewarded with very interesting narratives in the songs, and the whole album. Props to mention in Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus, though that’s a very slept on song, and it’s really one of her best written songs she’s ever done.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer Good Riddance, but to say The Secret of Us is devoid of originality and she's trying to be a Taylor Swift protégé is a crazy take. Just because the songs are more upbeat? Because she did one song with her as a feature? Meanwhile, Eternal Sunshine and Cowboy Carter are "good albums?" And Charli's music isn't cringe for being in her 30's but Taylor's is? Your opinion is your opinion of course, but damn...

I think he just thinks that TTPD is a rlly big downgrade from her other albums bc Taylors doing quantity over quality which is never a good thing for an artist, even Taylor. when midnights came out in 2022 it had 13 AMAZING songs on it and now, even Taylor fans r starting to think shes trying too hard. charlis album isnt the best but I feel like why everyone likes it is bc it had such a cultural impact, like most ppl think BRAT is gonna win AOTY for Grammys this yr lmao
@sophiejackson5622
@sophiejackson5622 Ай бұрын
I’m a huge Swiftie but TTPD was a flop for me. There is a difference between writing about your experiences and trying to give your fans drama. There were some songs that were good but I rarely return to the album. She desperately needs another producer and song writer to help make her songs more cohesive and not just a long run on sentence. The album really could’ve used extra editing and different production because it felt like a bad version of Midnights and the Anthology was just a worse sequel to Evermore. I think Jack just does the same thing over and over again and it’s starting to get old. I miss when her songs were flawlessly edited based on her feelings and not just recounting a time that a boyfriend did something. All too well is a perfect example of how to edit a song going from 10 minutes to 5 minutes so that she could convey her experiences and emotions.
@ajparker3413
@ajparker3413 Ай бұрын
I strongly disagree. In my opinion, Taylor Swift’s TTPD, particularly the anthology, brilliantly showcases her finest works and poetic depth. The musical production is nothing short of extraordinary-both cinematic and intricately crafted. This album ventures into profoundly mature themes, offering a level of emotional and artistic storytelling that we rarely get from Taylor. While albums like folklore and evermore excel in creative narratives, TTPD pushes boundaries with its introspection and complexity. Moreover, this album is vastly distinct from Midnights in tone, execution, and thematic depth, standing as a testament to Taylor’s evolving artistry and unparalleled versatility.

ttpd is one of her most rushed works, and its understandable because she was on tour. But the CONTEXT of that album is what peaks my interest. She was in a 6 year relationship and he never proposed, basically wasting her youth years to find a partner who would want to marry her. They broke up, obviously hard asf for her since she's on tour and has to fake a smile, and she gets back with a man for two weeks that promised her marriage and kids, and then he ghosted her and she was left in the trenches. So imo, ttpd is her best story told album because it is the most interesting story to put together and figure out yourself. but music wise, I only like maybe 3 songs off of it 🤗

fresh out the slammer, guilty as sin, loml, so long london, the smallest man who ever lived, clara bow from the standard edition alone are EXCELLENT songs. and saying jack's production was terrible when he produced fresh out the slammer and the black dog is kind of crazy. his work on ttpd is muchhh better than on short & sweet lmfao. saying she failed as a songwriter because people are interested to know who the songs are about is absurd. people have ALWAYS been interested in who taylor's songs are about, and that interest has only grown stronger as her fame has gotten bigger - this album was released right after she broke up with her long term boyfriend of 6 years and had a rebound with an old flame WHILE on the biggest tour of her career, why the hell wouldn't her fans be interested in what or who the songs are about, especially after midnights which although was autobiographical, was pretty vague, that doesn't take away from the art itself. were people not doing the exact same when charli released girl so confusing and sympathy is a knife? or when ariana released eternal sunshine? you're a hypocrite and clearly only listened to the album fully like 2 times max. you should read the in summation poem she wrote for the album, it contextualizes it and makes you understand it better.

There’s no way you think Charli XCX fans are even remotely similar to Taylor fans in how they try to investigate every detail of her personal life. Sure, with girl so confusing Charli didn’t try to sugar coat who it was about and people found interest in that, but people weren’t combing through every song to extract drama out of it like TTPD. And Taylor played into that with songs like Thank You Aimee, which is childish. You can disagree with me all you want but I think Taylor sacrificed an artistic vision to simply feed her fans with drama from her life. I used to feel like Taylor writing about her personal life was for her to process it herself, I didn’t feel that way with the majority of this album. It felt like she gave us a bunch of first drafts of songs she knew would get her fans talking for the most part, but that’s just my perspective
@ym63738
@ym63738 Ай бұрын
@@WillTalksMusic yeah charli fans and swifties are not the same because theyre two different artists. charli is not a diaristic songwriter. taylor is. always has been and people have ALWAYS been interested in who her songs are about and she has never shyed away from that, i am only drawing that comparison because brat also benefited from the same thing you're criticizing ttpd for. before the album came out taylor said that she felt like she HAD to make this album to process what she was going through, she has only ever said that before when she made red. ttpd is not her “feeding drama to her fans” i would argue that ttpd actually blurs the lines between the two muses which is why you felt like people were combing through every song to figure out who its about, also because her level of fame is bigger and now everyone is a swiftie so the “lore” behind her songs is more mainstream now in comparison to her previous albums. in fact her being this vulnerable while being the most famous woman alive is commendable and should be respected and not ridiculed. ttpd is much deeper than that and frankly, you don't get it. i don't think you spent enough time to even understand what she was trying to say in the album or what she was going through. you wrote it off because of a few cringey lines (which are mostly satire and her making fun of her relationship with matty but it went over people's heads) and like 2 bad songs when there are other career highlights on the album. your only correct take is that chloe or sam is the best song on the album which i agree and its very underrated, its ttpd summarized in one song.

I love your reviews but swifties asking who this song is about with taylor's music has been a thing for the past 10 albums, its not a new thing at all. I get being annoyed by that but it's not a new thing that swifties are parasocial lol, even with your favorite records like red and folklore, swifties were speculating on who the songs were about on those and making up theories. It doesn't diminish the value of the records. However, I agree that the album is bloated, she should've cut it down to at least 16 songs. And I disagree that she doesn't have good writing moments on the album though because chloe or sam or sophia or marcus, so long london, the black dog and the prophecy are great showcases of her songwriting.

Dude hitting us with the cliche musicbro TTPD opinions that will age like milk like every other time Taylor’s in a negative media cycle and everyone decides they hate her. Happened with Red, happened with Reputation and Lover. All albums got redeemed and reevaluated lol.

If you thought Good Riddance was better, I recommend checking out her second EP. It’s really an album. It’s more folky, and delicate. And has what I think is her best pop song “The Bottom” Minor & This Is What It Feels Like shows Gracie at her best. I really like Good Riddance too but my one issue with it is the choruses. It’s a lot of repetition. Phrases repeated over and over again.

i think you should have listened to TTPD again, it's really not that specific about her life. It only felt that way to me on release because she was so heavily in the spotlight. I went back and listened to the base album and it's just as abstracted as her music normally is. Really, it's the anthology that is way more of an offender of the personal details. That's the side with the Kim song and all those stupid shitty naming easter eggs or whatever. And yk, that's the part of the album that has redeeming qualities. I just think the musicality and, ironically, the poetry of TTPD is so bad that it feels like a crutch to go after Taylor. It's just piling on more discourse. and i have had ENOUGH taylor swift discourse

You're almost right. This is one of the more knowledgable videos on the subject. Maybe dial it a litle down with the attacks to the audience, people are not to blame to have different tastes and also a little nuance to the praise would be better. But yeah pretty accurate all around.

Fire S tier. That's also my top 4 there but I did enjoy the BMTH a lot. The F tier ones + Shakira were there for being an awful mess and corporate cashgrab by including old af songs. OneRepublic has that Top Gun song they did 2 years ago and that awful David Guetta collab. Shakira has her 2 biggest hits from last year, which weren't even her's. One is her BZRP Mussic session, which she didn't even bother to change the name of, and the other one is a Karol G song. Falling In Reverse is awful and the album is named after a song released 5 years ago. And since that single they kept getting worse. He acts like he doesn't care about the haters but then makes songs extremely angry as a middle finger to everyone and as soon as someone comments on him he talks trash about said person on ig. He is an awful person online to even his fans and he's been to jail, so the hate doesn't come from nowhere. But at least he didn't do like Jason. I've heard he had some old songs in there but I was expecting like a Savage Love that's 4 years old. He has Swalla on it and that's from 2017. I know he didn't put an album since 2015 but my god, the many attempts at comeback singles in there is hillarious. Also take in mind I still feel it's 2024 despite the time I'm writting this. I'm saying it for the dates lol

Eh I’d not say that because what avatar is to the general public is a very visually impressive spectacle of an album, that you don’t think too deeply about when you see them you just want to admire the visuals and Grand scale. TTPD is kind of the opposite where the production and music on the base level isn’t that interesting but once you dive in and look into the lyrics, it becomes more compelling kind of the opposite of avatar in a way. It’s really not wide appeal to the general public, as you can see by the mixed reaction. I’d say short and sweet is more like the avatar where it’s a fun album that you listen to for the vibes TTPD is a hefty novel You have to sit with and comprehend.

And I agree with you so high school is not cringe, but what he said about taylor just feeding us about her personal stuff is so true and unhealthy for us swifties. I still don’t understand why some swifties crave knowing “who’s this song about”... is it about joe??? Is it about matty???? Is it about travis??
