I mean Soma learned from Joichiro who is a better chef than Azami. But since Erina has the God Tongue and Soma know the Yukihira Style, I would call it a tie until it becomes more clear.

Joichiro got really fucked up in last arc. Still after his achievements I would say he is the best chef in the world, no comparison at all. I mean he must have given Asahi a head start. My top 4: 4.Asahi 3.Erina 2.Yukihira 1.Joichiro Joichiro was just on another level in my opinion.

I can agree, but in the very end Soma did exactly what Joichiro did and travelled the world absorbing all different cooking techniques to add to his Arsenal. In the end he surpassed his father and took over the restaurant and I would say even Erina understtod that Soma was better when he cooked his specialty for everyone when he returned. So taking his travelling the world into consideration he was on another level and no longer equal to Takumi and Ryu and Akira. So... 1. Soma 2. Erina 3. Asahi 4. Joichiro 5. Eishi 6. Rindō 7. Tosuke 8. Isshiki 9. Momoko 10. Somei I don’t include Gin or The other adults besides Joichiro because they don’t battle with the students and the rankings should be amongst the students only. My acception is Joichiro because he battles Asahi and Soma and plays a big role in the story.

So I would say that most knowledge of cooking goes to Joichiro but Assahi still beat him because his dish was better. Maybe Erina’s best dish is better than Joichiro’s but if it was random cuisine Joichiro would win. Also Soma’s best dish is around equal to Erina’s but Soma might know more about each cuisine than her.

Why the heck do people think Soma held back against Erina in the finals its literally not his personality to hold back against anyone in a competition. Soma literally made a better dish in the finals than the dish he made against Saiba Asahi judging from Erina's mother's reaction in the finals but he still lost which means Erina surpassed his dish. In the last chapter though it is unknown whether Soma surpassed Erina after going abroad since it ended there.

uhh kinda late, but what was the unfair circumstances you mentioned or something, been a long while since read the thing. also I don't get where people derive the idea that "soma was holding back" lmao prob the dumbest thing I've heard, otherwise he wouldn't have quit school and traveled to refine his cooking or whatever. afaik the unfair circumstance was her mom n shit which she already got passed due to somas little (kinda cringe) motivation speech (essentially neglecting the disadvantage or whatever). on a separate note though what do you think of the ending. as in the hypothesis that soma surpassed her in the end due to traveling the world n shit and the whole special someone thing? there's obviously a pretty clear implication of at least improving vastly due to him following his father's footsteps as well as that special someone theory, as well as even in the blue tournament in the final chapter he literally said that he has a long way to go (presumably to reach his peak). this is all a form of headcanon obviously however its probably very reasonable to assume, no?

@@benjahoang9054 I would honestly put Soma and Erina at equal standings because both of them can create dishes that impresses the other but Erina's god tongue is just too op because she can make a dish that follows her tongue's taste and make it impossibly delicious. Don't forget that Soma took advantage of Erina's tongue in the team shokugeki against Central to defeat the first seat and second seat. I honestly think Erina might still be the best but Soma's newly acquired skills could have surpassed Erina. Also Erina won Blue in unfair circumstances when she were given different trials and had to fight all the losers in every stage which is a lot more difficult than simply creating a good dish to impress the judge. You could see how exhausted she was.

@@schmel7930 wtf you replied so fast was aboutta head to sleep. but uh wanna hop on like vc real quick or something i kinda think its cool to see someone scale shokugeki. yeah I can see the whole theory of god tongue being op af (essentially a hax in cooking) but id also argue that yukihiras style (aka his own hax or whatever) is considered v strong (or soma style???). although we don't get to see any of it since he only developed it in the very end oof the show and it was at its earliest stage. essentially incorporating everything he's learned from all over the world is a form of hax (although not as cool as erinas tongue shit). my memory of the manga is very hazy so I might not remember it correctly though. to your unfair circumstances that seems very true yeah I remember her being like p exhausted but that is very evidently overcome by her pure motivation from somas little speech or whatever so I honestly wouldn't say it affected her cooking (or at least after soma gave his thingy speech) tldr: u reply fast af. her tongue hax is stupid strong, but soma can be considered to also have a form of haxx, which we only get to see in the end, where its at its "weakest." also true she was at a disadvantage, but I think it gets neglected simply due to the whole speech thing aka she wasn't actually nerfed in the end, might even be considered an amp but I doubt it

I did take that into consideration but I also took into consideration that Alice, Ryo and Hayama could probably do the same thing but that is just my head canon plus Aldini didn’t challenge Souma for his position he challenged him for his Mezzaluna and those were flashbacks when Souma first got his 1st seat position and I’m sure people like Alice, Ryo and Hayama gotten a lot better by then plus there was a reason why the Author wanted to make Takumi 7th place so I was just playing it safe and going by that. You could make the same argument for Mimisaka too since he held his own against Somei.

@@polartang250 Kelsey Johnson it just looks weird to me that Takumi is #18 while Yukihira is #1 even tho they had so many matches after the central arc and won an equal amount of times. Ik it wasn't for his 1st seat position but they were both definitely trying their best. I think Takumi was good enough to be higher on the elite ten council but just didn't bother going higher. It's like when Rindou said Eizan could've been higher on the council if he wasn't so focused on making money. I can't imagine any of the others except Isshiki giving Soma a hard time in so many matches.

nah. takumi being equal to yukihira doesnt mean they do have the same potential and peak at the end of the series.. takumi and yukihira were very similar from the beginning.. the only thing that sets them apart was yukihira's tenacity and ingenuity. ofcourse he has better skills too.. the fact that takumi ended up being the 8th seat after the shokugeki battles for the elite ten seats is enough to say that soma is simply the better version of takumi. the best of his generation ( in terms of culinary skills). and also youre forgot that takumi always viewed yukihira his equal from the very beginning... takumi is a great chef.. but I still pick the white coat trio ahead of him atleast what was shown in the series. I think the only second years that were better than yukihira's batch were ishiki and kuga.. 1- soma 2- ishiki 3 - kuga 4 - hayama 5 - kurokiba 6 - alice 7 - takumi 8- megumi 9 - nene 10 - eizan anyone in 3rd to 8th place is interchangeable depending on the situation.

Takumi and Mimasaka are really underrated. I think that they have demonstrated that they are over the rest. One of them is able to copy every style in the world, which is quite impressive, what would place him more or less at the 3-4 seat and the other, even though he is the 7 seat, he reached the semifinals of BLUE, the most prestigious cooking tournament and in this semis he faced arguably the 3 most talented cooks right now in the show. He also forms part of the arguably strongest duo and he is always facing Soma in duels, which they never win or lose abruptly.

Actually, Soma is better than Erina. The only reason Soma loses sometimes is because nothing is on the line worse than being expelled or his dorm mates and friends getting expelled, when these two things are involve, his true strength shows up. His lose against Hayama, Megishima (Ramen showdown), Tsukasa and Asahi (first lose) was because no one is getting expelled. His lose to Erina is because he created a dish in an instant just to boost Erina's confidence and bring her back to life, yet that dish, awakened and freed both Erina and her mother, Mana causing a new form of Gifting even greater than the Divine Gifting he also made out of Erina's mother plus it was a dish that not only boosted Erina's confidence but also boosted her whole strength as a chef which then enabled her to beat Soma by creating a better dish. If not for Soma finishing first and serving her a dish that would boost her, she would have not won at all.

honestly, Asahi is a better cook than Souma or Erina. He has all the skills/tools/knowledge of every cooking style to make the ultimate perfection dish. Hell he can even enhance the abilities of his opponents by merging them. The only reason Souma defeated him was because the judge was someone who could taste “the feelings of the person” making it. Because she has such an enhanced god tongue. And while she didn’t feel anything from asahi, she felt warmth etc. From Soma. No one else in the world would be able to taste that tho. And there is no doubt that Asahi’s dish was closer to perfection than Souma’s. Because of his abilities. Honestly i even doubt Souma has even surpassed Tsukasa. And The skills of Tsukasa are just one of the 100 Asahi has. He also has Joichiro’s skills. And asahi literally stated that soma’s knife was an inferior version of his father’s. I honestly also don’t think both Erina and Soma stond a chance against Joichiro yet. Since Soma and him use the same weapon: creativitt/improvisation/adapting to the situation. The elite ten for example, he beat them in the team Shokugeki and yet couldn’t win a shokugeki against them for the entire durating of the year. So yeah, he obviously didn’t really try to win. But since Erina’s a bit like Tsukasa, cooking things to perfection without putting to much of your self in the dish, i’d honestly still give Erina the edge over him. Since Soma mostly depends on circumstances. While Erina’s skill is always available(the god tongue). As for Tsukasa, it’s kind of the same as Erina. His skills aren’t relying on uncertain factors. I decided to place him above Shinomiya because even though Shinomiya is also extremely skilled in cooking, he doesn’t have any “special” skill. I placed Dojima above above Tsukasa because Shinomiya was always extremely humble against him, so he must have had great respect for him. Meaning Dojima was a better cook. And since Tsukasa and Shinomiya are around the same level, i’d give Dojima the edge over Tsukasa. Azami is not on here because we don’t have enough information about how good he is exactly. So yeah, my list would probably be something like: 1. Asahi (with Joichiro/Tsukasa equipment) 2. Joichiro 3. Dojima 4. Tsukasa 5. Shinomiya 6. Erina 7. Tied: Soma/Rindo

Hasty finally same as I have. Souma cant even beat stukasa and first off all Asahi is the best chef in food wars. Souma beat Asahi not in the food but in the kind of feeling Souma has in his dish. Joichiro probably the best but Asahi attain his skill and also the former first seat stukasa. Souma didn't beat stukasa in 1v1 shokugeki. So as for now Asahi have a family which is nakiri's so his dish has a feeling. "To be the best chef you need to find someone you would cook for" now that Asahi have a family no one can beat him. With his Joichiro skill former demon of cooking. And former first seat skill ASAHI IS THE BEST

Asahi's copy paste ability is pretty overpowered but it is limited to the other chefs skills he plundered to make a good dish but other chefs like Erina and Soma pursued after unknown heights that no other chefs could do. Erina is vastly more knowledgeable than other chefs if you actually watch the anime she literally lectured the polar dormitory along with Soma about the ingredients they should use in the tournament, she defeated the best patissier in Totsuki in her own domain and she beat Soma's dish that surpassed Asahi's and won Blue in the most unfair circumstances which was to beat the "losers" at their own game.

Erina beat souma simply because souma wanted to make erina smile and basically used the same dish erina made back in the camp in which is an improved version too, however he knew that erina was gonna make an even better dish so that lead to his loss which we cant technically call a loss since souma only wanted erina to smile. Also soma got destroyed so hard by the old Elite Ten, it makes sense if the First Seat is easily destroyed by Asahi and then Soma 3-0 him, but in reality, the author did build Soma's characteristics as an average cooker who work hard i.e. Soma has a long way to go in becoming the best chef. Between the first years there maybe a difference in the trio: Alice, Ryou, Hayama and Soma but it is not too large, also Aldini is on par with Soma. The only reason of the one-sided matches at Blue is bc the author rushed the finale.

Megumin belongs a lot lower on the list here are some of the reasons 1. She literally lacks talent as a chef is she better than a good portion of the students yes but compared to the majority of chefs in the series she lacks talent and has nowhere near the amount of experience other chefs have. Hell she even had the worst grades around before Souma came and that’s not just because of her cowardly nature and stage fright in the written parts as well she completely flunked which is honestly impressive in itself. Hell it took her months to pass the god damn dorm test she literally fails as a chef. 2. Lack of a special ability I’m talking about super powered chefs for example Erina with her god tongue or her brothers cross knives ability 3. Lack of effort on her part a good portion if not the majority of chefs in the series have been cooking for years and are constantly trying to better themselves however while Megumi helped her family she wasn’t really putting that much effort into cooking itself it’s honestly a miracle that she even managed to make it into Tōtsuki. 4. No speciality the top chefs such as Souma his father and Hayama manage to put themselves into their dish yet she repeatedly fails to do so her dishes manage to imbue a sense of home in the people who eat it but that’s not exactly a speciality. Also she lacks a cooking style or area of expertise which even side characters have it could be argued fish and vegetables are her speciality but she doesn’t know a lot about them and she is only good at using those around her area thus if cannot be called a area she exceels in it. 5. A will of fire all the top chefs have a drive for cooking they want to win be at the top or excel yet Megumi due to her timid nature doesn’t do any of that Honestly she does not belong in Tōtsuki and she should have enrolled in another school wether it be her talent or nature she’s just not fit for the school. 6. She literally messes up in the kitchen take the fall selection for example she literally messed up with her fish even a basic chef wouldn’t screw up that I get that it’s because of her nature but come on she literally goes to the top school in Japan she shouldn’t screw up with her ingredients at all that’s a inexcusable thing as a chef.

August Wannding Yes and as a chef that personality of here is a real issue the school is literally where food battles take place regularly and cooking is everything someone like her is a massive liability in the kitchen. I’ll make this as a clear as possible she has absolutely no talent as a chef Megumi has no super power and she’s not a genius and at best her talent is mediocre. When it comes down to it she has about the same skill as a background character if the author didn’t make a bunch of asspulls and make her cooking significantly better than it should actually be she would never have made it past the first year and even reaching the end of that year would have been a miracle for her. She does not deserve a spot in the top 50 chefs.

actually i think Asahi is better than Souma, at least in the skill ( his skill is like cheat, imagine if he has souma or erina's knifes). when i read the manga, i saw Erina's mother said that : " even if Souma's dish doesn't taste good, it's not the real matters" and then she said: " asahi dish doesn't have its own flavor" ( beacause he has every flavor :v LOL ) IT'S REALLY FUNNY that in a biggest cooking tourament, the problem doesn't lie on the tastes. :)) Souma win because he has the heart of a chef :v even when Asahi dish is a masterpiece stands above all :v
