@SteveRogersOutdoors yes, it started here a bit earlier than usual to. It's ok I had a great bass season.

Thanks for the advice Brother. NE Ohio is not quite the same as where you are but it’s similar. Smallies are hammering the finesse jigs around here right now.

I agree with all those baits Steve. I'm in east Tennesse and the water temp were I fish was still 70 degrees last weekend. I caught a 3lb smallie on a underspin with a 3.3 Keitech on it. I caught more fish last weekend all on that underspin. I keep an underspin and a regular jig head with a Hazedong shad on it tied on almost all year. Sometimes they want the underspin. Sometimes they don't want that flash. Its going to get cold here this week, so we will see what happens when I go out this weekend. Thanks for the great content Steve!!

I agree that downsizing in the fall is important. On a whim, I picked up some Strike King Sausage Spinners I think they're called. Little underspin jighead for crappie fishing. Put a 2 inch minnow type bait on it and fished it in areas that where thick with minnows and small bait fish. I've caught a lot of bass and a few crappie doing it. Way more bass than I thought I would.

I just about picked up a bunch of those just yesterday! I should have.

I’ve had a tank with a few crayfish for a while now. They typically come out and are more aggressive when the water temperature is changed drastically. They almost bask in the light and seem to feed heavily on algae when this happens (southern okla.)

Great video as always i caught about 12 bass last Friday before all the rain got here on Saturday on 3/16 1/4 oz jig and a wacky rigged stick bait no big ones but all good solid fish here in northern Arkansas.

Nice! That is a good day. I've fished northern Arkansas a lot over the years. Some excellent fisheries.

Don't forget about the blade baits this time of year, perfectly mimics those young baitfish. As always great video!

Where are you located? Just curious. Michigan waters, where I fish, have no shad. All gills!

Northern Illinois. We have almost all gills too.

Is it always wise to match the hatch?
@SteveRogersOutdoors Жыл бұрын
It is definitely a great place to start, but depending on your goals for the day, a really big bait will often draw the biggest bites, but they may be few and far between depending on the quality of the fishery. But more often than not, I start by trying to match what is going on. That is an excellent question!

I’ll be fishing Lake Guntersville in 9 days. This should help but I’ll be hunting for the Bigs and I’m thinking we’ll be fishing weed beds that’ll be dying off for the most part. Jigs and Texas Rigs might be the answer. Any suggestions would be extremely appreciated.
@SteveRogersOutdoors Жыл бұрын
Those weed lines there are famous. If I was hitting it I would try some sort of bait to cover some water to try to locate some fish and then slow down with the jigs and Texas rigs. and work the area over once you get a bite or two. I like to swim a worm through vegetation for a searching lure. Good luck! Let me know how the trip goes.

@@SteveRogersOutdoors Thank you for the suggestions. I’m fishing a team kayak tournament (5 anglers per team split $10,000). You confirmed my thoughts almost to the tee. I’ll be fishing with Chad Hoover and KBF’s Knuklhed Championship. We’ve got a pretty good team of anglers with a range of tournament experience including myself with almost zero experience. I think our ace in the hole is Chad Hoover. I will definitely let you know how it goes. Thanks again

@@SteveRogersOutdoorsHi Steve Just got back from Guntersville. There were some good fish caught I caught a 7lb 15 oz with a Texas rig Rage Bug on a laydown close to shore. Unfortunately it was caught in practice. Tourney day the weather changed dramatically and couldn’t buy a bite lol I punched I pitched I cranked I chattered I tried just about everything I had and only managed to catch a 12.75” bass but at least I contributed lol. As a team we finished 8th out of 13 teams. My team mates didn’t do much better. I still learned a lot and really enjoyed the whole experience.
