Agreed. I think a good angle grinder should make it easy to dettach, reattach, and change the orientation of the guard without tools so you're not tempted to permanently dettach it the first time that it doesn't suit a particular task

I used one without a guard and the cut off wheel got pinched and when it jumped it nearly cut my thumb off! Two surgeries to try and fix the tendon, still have very little feeling in it so my advice is to make sure all guards are in place before using a tool. Oh yeah, I have been using tools for 40 years so I was plenty experienced with tools, but a freak accident can mess you up.

Milwaukies new guard system is pretty sweet. Easy to move around and easy to take off! Once got a decent gash on my hand with on old torquey dewalt. The new ones are way smoother.

Good job. I have "every tool known to mankind" in my shop. But in my daily rental property management field work, I use the hell out of a Cordless Dremel, Cordless Saws-all, 3" cut off grinder, cordless sabre saw, one cordles drill set up for drill bits and contersinks, and one cordless drill set up for a 6" magnetic #2 phillips and a 7 1/4 Skill saw. I just found some really sharp stainless multi-tool blades on ebay; they really kick ass. If they hold up, I'll use the multi a lot more. I like the look of the Kobalt. I run into the need for matching 45's all the time. 90's are not that big a deal. - Also, I've started using 1/8" HHS drill bits in a dedicated 36,000 rpm cordless Dremel. Talk about fast pre\drilling holes. busing out deadbolt screws, pins, steel/aluminum pilot holes, and such. It's amazing. - I notice you don't have a magnet glued to the top of your drill to temp hold screws and bits. This trick has really helped me work faster. There's a Ferro /ceramic Magnet that is about 2" long and 1" wide. I get them at Lowe's. Cheers Handyman!

Happy Saturday Handyman. Millennials. The young husband. For the first time in my experience, the man of the house was not even mildly interested in what I was doing or why. He was too busy playing a computer game, and laughing hysterically,. Wifey wore the pants today, I had gone to their rental to re-set a leaking toilet base and install a new Disposal. - Both were unexpected trouble. Cast Iron Toilet flange was a good 5/8" above floor level and old disposal was a weird off brand, so my new Badger wouldn't match any of the drain plumbing. - Toilet. I tried the new Lowe's red Korky poly seal made for this elevated flange problem. I noted that it was not nearly as good as the green Home Depot Sani-Seal. I just didn't want to make an extra trip to Home Depot. But, it all worked out. Disposal. Fortunately, I barely did have adjustment parts on my service truck. I should have taken this in consideration when I first assessed the cracked housing, leaking, old disposal. Why is it so hard to notice everything?!?

Today, I went to a rental that they had busted up to pieces a large kitchen box drawer under a built in oven. Too much weight. In the old days I would take all the pieces to my shop and complete the repair or re-making there. Thanks to all of the modern, portable, compact tools available now-a-days, I worked on my 4' portable work table, and repaired it totally in about 25 minutes, better than new.

I love this channel as well I always get honest advice and answers to my questions or concerns or thoughts. Today is no exception because I have yet another question. When using a router do you always go counter clockwise? When making a wooden sign is a palm router better? I don't own a palm, but I do have a full size that plunges. Also on sign is it possible to put router in a table and move the wood? Sorry for all the questions, but I want to learn correctly. Thank you, Rodney

I have the similar DW745, Only difference is only 20 inch rip. Now Dewalt seems to have made it only 8 1/4" blade. Don't think they still make the table top model in 10". Too bad. Sometimes I need the depth. Also shaft is too short for stacked dado. But all in all the best job site saw I have seen. Bought my son the Hitachi, now replaced with a Dewalt like mine. I too made a job site bench, table saw on the right end and miter box in the middle. Space on the left end for a router table function although I have not done that yet. Great channel keep it up.

Yes I agree. I have a Dewalt angle grinder and took the guard off for some reason, don't remember now. Was intending to put it back on right away. I had an all purpose cutting blade on there. A few minutes later the blade came all to pieces. I put that guard on immediately and then put another blade on there. But I do find a hundred of uses for my grinder and would like to have more than one.

I love my ridgid r4512 table saw but I won't buy ridgid again after the circle jerk that was dealing with signing up for the lifetime service agreement. One of the things that i found to be the most useful was a Ripping blade. I originally bought a 50 something tooth blade and i was not happy with the performance of the saw before switching. Im in the process of going to run a 240v 20 amp line to it and switch it over. I recently bought a router to build some shelves and was super happy with all it can do. Though the sticker shock on bits is kind of the worst part. Unfortunately for sears but good for me they are leaving my area and i got a bit set dirt cheap. I will never use half these bits but it was a 32 piece set for about 40. Thanks for the content.

Love your videos and find them very informative. While I don't necessarily disagree with your choices of tools, angle grinder (most definitely) Dewalt table saw (definitely) Compond mitre saw (definitely) and router (yes). But I would hate to think of having to do without my 18 ga. pin nailer. However, I was trying to explain to my wife the other day how much things have changed in the home building business in just 10-15 years. I was having to tear out some cabinets that had been put in with 16 penny nails. Want a PITA. Thank god for screw guns.

I picked up the Dewalt 20v 7.25inch slider about a month ago. I was tempted by the Kobalt after seeing you use it but I have had my eye on the dewalt for a while. I was in the same boat as you cutting everything with a skill saw. I love that little saw. Supper tight, no run out, smooth like butter and runs all day on a 6ah battery. The little saws are where it's at for punch out

When I bought my first tools a few years ago for a rental I’m fixing up, I went to several stores to check out the tools in person. Some of the angle grinders, for example, were too fat around the barrel for my fairly small hands, or too heavy. In terms of overall size, weight and balance, I liked Makita the best, but that’s a totally personal consideration. I also bought cheap or used tools for cutting brick or other activities that might wreck my good tools. My only regret is the single bevel, non-sliding mitre saw. I wish I had spent more and gotten the sliding double-bevel.

I don't recommend the 20v grinder. Do yourself a favor and grab the 60v one. I'm a DeWalt guy, for sure. But, I just hated the 20v grinder, and felt like the 20v batteries just didn't do the job. FlexVolt is great. And, of course, the FlexVolt batteries work in the 20v tools. So, a bit of additional versatility.
