Patek Philippe will remain exactly where it is, conservative, legendary, and certainly number 1 on top.

Perhaps, but there is no harm in speculating, there is a fininte probability of PP being detroned though...

@ I don’t know if you’ve seen interviews with Stern on why he discontinued the SS Nautilus when the model was at its peak. He mentioned it was too hyped and wanted rarity and exclusivity, unlike other attention seeking brands such as Omega and Rolex, Patek sells itself. It’s almost like Patek doesn’t seek to be in the top position but they are. They are the Rolls Royce of watches and true Patek enthusiasts are into their dress conservative pieces and not the sports watches and those consumers are the ones they want to cater to, to keep the brand’s prestige.

@ I haven’t seen it, but read the whole interview. Thierry Stern is the top exec and owner and he knows this business of luxury better than any of us. But no one can disagree with the fact that Cubitus was not the best they could have done. I think enthusiasts will always desire for more, better, from champions like PP. and to your point, I hope they maintain the no one spot. But the work some other brands are doing is magical too.
