Maybe a bold prediction, but could a lot of voters be 'new' StarKid fans that have only seen TGWDLM and BF? Not to say that those shows have weak songs, but the consistent placement of those songs quite high on the list really jumps out to me.

IDK if this opinion is unpopular or not, but I thought BF was the worst one they've done so far. Out of all of the new people only Curt and James did well (Not counting my angel Dylan) and the atmosphere was just WAYYY more depressing. Kendall is an okay singer, but What if Tomorrow Comes was just a sad song that wasn't really that good. CaliforMIA was a good song but Angela did not have the voice for it (If Mariah was Lex, it would have been incredible). I'm sad to say it, but that musical was a major decline in quality from the rest.

Lukestealth It’s a more extreme opinion of what some people have said. Most people are able to recognize that it was definitely a big change from what they usually do. I personally don’t love it, but it’s not my least favorite starkid musical. I don’t mind the somber mood of it, I just don’t think they’ve perfected how to do a more serious musical while still including comedy yet. Also, imo half of the songs went on way too long for what they added to the show to the point where I skip through them now.

(un?)popular opinion: I've been following Starkid for years and I think that the songs have consistently gotten better as time has passed. I'm not sad that TGWDLM and Black Friday are popular at all- the songs have a much more consistent amount of quality compared to older works. While there've certainly been standouts, many of the older Starkid songs don't make the mark like newer ones.

I know this is off topic (kind of) but I just had a horrible thought about Twisted. So, after Aladdin has his really weird scene (when he's talking to himself and that stuff) Aladdin asks Ja'far why he is so obsessed with Jasmine (or something along those lines). Anyway, then Ja'far replies with "because I love her" and then Aladdin goes "ew she's like half your age- total pedo". Which means, theoretically, becasue Jasmine is 16, Ja'far is in his early thirties. And Aladdin was 'Orphaned at 33' which was last year, which makes him 34. Wihch makes Aladdin older than Ja'far and that is NOT SOMETHING I WANT TO THINK ABOUT BUT HERE WE ARE. It makes me very uncomfortable and thank you that is all.

I think TTO's actually got some strong music outside of the more popular ones (Wagon on Fire got the spot it deserves though) and seeing Twisted dominate the top spots (for as much as I understand) disheartened me a little. Disclaimer: I absolutely love BF, and I love the soundtrack for Ani (but not the actual play) I feel like Long Ago and Far Away should be on this list. There are some BF songs that absolutely should not have taken its place. I mean, Ani is my favorite Starkid soundtrack, so I would argue that bunch of songs should be here, but without that bias, Long Ago and Far Away definitely deserves to knock something off. Yeees, When the World's At Stake honestly might be my top favorite Starkid song (and I say that as someone who's generally extremely biased toward Darren and his music lol), just because of how gorgeous and profound it is! The TTO score in general is easily my favorite of Jeff's work - Lost Without You is so good too, and Wagon On Fire of course, and even Naked In a Lake is adorable ^__^ But World's At Stake... it just hits different for me for some reason. Of course, cannot complain about Kick It Up a Notch being tops, because Darren absolutely DOES write the hell out of a Disney-esque villain song :D

I’m really upset that mamd and ani didn’t place the list. But also, really happy that kick it up a notch won? It’s not my favorite star kid song but looking at their music from a critical point of view rather than personal, it certainly deserves it. The catchy melody, the sinister mood, the amazing lyrics. That song is just amazingly written.

Twisted (the song) could have been higher. For me, the show Twisted is like the peak of StarKid. That balance of the story, the songs, the acting, the singing, the humor, the serious undertones, the props, the cinematography, among others, is just that good. All of the elements coalesced into a very remarkable masterpiece.
