It would be helpful to know what indoor trainers are needed or interchangeable between these apps..in case you want to switch etc..im toying with the idea of indoor but need to justify trainer costs. TIA.

This list would be a lot more useful if it gave a full comparison of features and costs. As it is, I’m not much the wiser and would need to do a lot of investigating.

I can't understand why still after about 5 yrs of development there's no proper game simulator riding in a busy city with traffic lights where you can have fun. Passing on red lights, racing with couriers in New York, falling from the bike, having accidents and for example a mission where you have to do something like in GTA. I use a kickr with zwift and it's really boring, I'm sure if it was a game I could ride and play easy for 1-2hrs daily.

Perhaps a module where you have to ride hard to escape law enforcement or a drug gang or a rabid dog chasing you out of nowhere What about pot hole avoidance, that would keep upper body movement active Cycling away from a girlfriend who wants to remind you of the dinner evening that's planned with her parents So many different opportunities to expand these apps
@enablingdisability4 жыл бұрын
excellent stuff as always :) can I kindly ask you guys to also try and go into hand-cycling maybe? there're plenty of guys with different disabilities who practice hand-cycling and I'm sure you'll also find it interesting to explore yourselves ;) cheers and keep up the good work ;)

Hi, i've just bought a spin bike and wondered what sensors were needed in order to track my speed etc in real time via these ( preferably) android apps via bluetooth on a tablet?
@de4thmoon3 жыл бұрын
There are so many improvement points which is good for developers but sad for users :/ I am imagining being in a real race and being able to change the total race speed based on my fitness level. Also the graphichs really needs to be better for sure. Also the game should give me tips, based on my performance and do a quick question session supported with AI for recoveries.

Thanks for going over these. I've been really curious about the differences of all the different platforms.

I prefer the computer graphics style simulators such as Zwift, or the promising RGT, and the hack for GTA5 over recorded video. Recorded video is set to match a frame rate of the original recording, so if you go too slow or too fast, it gets visually very weird.

I‘m just giving RGT a try. First test with a gpx of a local Route (magic roads) was not quite as convincing as I hoped. The track overlay was correct but the VR movie was somewhat strange. RGT invented lots of corners even if a segment was completely straight. That’s a little bit confusing. Plus, the VR video made a 180° U-turn in between where track definitely did have one… really strange. I’ll keep testing a few more local tracks…

What’s a good app to use in non-smart bikes and trainers?
@bikeradar Жыл бұрын
Hi, this is a tricky one, as, by definition, non-smart trainers and bikes can't connect to smart devices used for these apps. That said, if you've got some kind of measurement tool for your bike, such as a power meter (this would be ideal) or speed/cadence sensor, then you do have options. You can use Zwift and some other indoor cycling apps using a non-smart trainer plus a power meter or even a speed/cadence sensor, for example; support.zwift.com/speed-and-or-cadence-sensors-ryZdj7beB Of course, you won't be able to access every feature with a set up like this, but it can work. Hope that helps! Simon

50 something and taking up cycling again having not ridden for 30 years. No intention of embarrassing myself outdoors yet till a few pounds have been shed so looking for some advice on indoor training apps for unfit and out of condition mere mortals. I have a bike hooked up to a dumb trainer with a wahoo speed and cadence sensor attached to turn it into a smart trainer...any advice for which app would best suit someone like me..thank you.
@pedxing4 жыл бұрын
I did that for awhile last winter too! For me I simply watched some GCN videos while doing that and recorded my rides with the wahoo app and then pushed them to Strava for archival. eventually when the weather broke into spring I continued the process but moved to actual streets so that I could see routes and push my comfort zones in learning new riding styles and skills. Its about to get cold again so I picked up a used training for the winter which will give me the ability to have those dynamically linked rides that these apps provide for. My suggestion though with a "dumb trainer" is just to find some videos and record with wahoo for the time being. You won't have power feedback, but there is no dynamic link, so who cares. Find a few that you like... ride to your capacity, challenge yourself, be disciplined, don't be afraid to take it easy and keep spinning when the video is above your pay grade. The only thing thats going to get you stronger is time in the saddle. And if you want to really shed pounds get an app like myfitnesspal and just start logging calories. at first you don't even have to worry about changing your diet, but chances are you're going to make that happen as you start to learn about the nutrition you're putting inside yourself and how it connects to your cycling. Most of all... HAVE FUN! Best wishes. I know I found your comment late, but I hope you stay encouraged. 50 something is the new 30 something. ;)
