To say that tire clearance up to 45c is really for recreational riders and not racing doesn’t apply in the States. The last gravel event I ran 47mm tires on a 2x Supersix SE and I see people riding up to 50mm tires. I don’t think i would even consider a new gravel bike with at least 47-48+ tire clearance.

So no mention of Sonder Camino, Ribble CGR or Ribble Gravel, Planet X Tempest, Rujo or Free Ranger, none of the Orro bikes, or steel frame offerings from Brother Cycles, Temple Cycles - realise these are all made in Taiwan/China etc as are probably 90 % of bikes and those you mention however woukd be good to support UK based firms - with the cheapest being the Marin Headlands, apart from being sponsored or otherwise induced to feature these bikes I can't see why they've made this list, you haven't even got any from the big three Trek, Specialized or Giant - I realise they are probably cutting back on some of their marketing budget so maybe that explains it? I’ve got it in the Supersix EVO SE Meteor Grey version and upgraded with Force AXS 2x crank and derailleur , Reserve wheels. Fantastic bike which of course won Unbound 200 this year with Lachlan Morton. European reviewers seem to always miss talking about it, I assume Cannondale doesn’t toss enough advertising dollars at them because it’s certainly not the bike. I don’t see any mention of although great brands like Salsa or Santa Cruz. Also, any review list that doesn’t included the amazing Crux is a bit suspicious, especially when a Canyon makes the list.

You wanted a bike lighter and less complicated than an MTB to be faster and more nimble on tarmac and lighter terrain, so you made its tyres narrower, less knobby and you skipped suspension. So adding +4 cm tyres and front suspension back on negates the whole idea of gravel bikes.

From what I see, the bike industry continues with overpriced bikes that do not deliver anything but an illusion of luxury. Sadly, after a twitch of experimentation, it appears that a vast majority within the gravel category have settled for a corpse of more or less boring endurance road bike geometries with a bit of meatier tyres stuck on. Calling something an “adventure rig” should be banned unless the geometry is relaxed enough to practically equal a modern day MTB and the tyres are at least 50mm. Whatever happened to the bikes made of metal and being simple, trusty machines? Carbon with holes in it for stuffing things…how about a good old bombproof steel or alloy rig with a trusted mechanical drivetrain and gears to actually climb somewhere? And a bunch of mounting points for bags. That should suffice. This list is a joke for anyone but rich snobby dentists who want to show off on weekends.

Less than 50 mm is not a gravel bike. That's "all road". You don't need the clearance just for the tires. You need it for if your 42s get caked in mud. Gravel races usually have some sections where 48 to 50 mm tires would be way better than narrower tires, so nobody should buy a gravel bike that has less than 50 mm.

Everybody hating on the video for what? "those must be the brands that sponsor the video".. how many brands do you think you can fit into a normal length video? "Those bikes are too expensive for normal people" we can't help your budgeting problems. A normal adult working a normal job can afford anyone of these bikes if they wanted to. As a young man living on my own working a $15.50 per hour job I bought my first $7,000 BMC team machine and the collection is just exploded since then obviously I'm not making 15.50 an hour anymore but if I could budget that at that rate there should be nobody complaining about I'm an adult but can't afford that. You either want to figure out a way to afford it or you don't. The getting on here and bitching about prices and asking him to dumb down the videos is just redundant. Cycling is an elite sport, riding a bicycle is something anybody and everybody can do. There is a difference.
