The silicone liner for the inside is so that the nonstick liner is not damaged, as the nonstick liner if/when damaged introduces carcinogen to the food. Of late, the uncoated steel baskets are being recommended, I have a coated one, trying out the silicone liner soon myself, for this reason.

The parchment paper is great.. I use it all the time. I buy the ones that look like a big cupcake cup. It's not really for cleaning purposes. It's great for drippy stuff like cheese that you don't want dripping through the grates and getting lost. It's also great for when I wanna make a french toast so the egg doesn't stick on grate and ruin the teflon. It's wonderful for softer things like salmon too; esp if you are cooking it with a sauce, so the sauce doesn't drip down, and you can remove the salmon in one piece by simply lifting the paper.

This is the first air fryer I have ever owned. It works well kzbin.infoUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB and, if you use the proper supplied silicone tray, keeps the food separate from the oil\grease of cooking. I cooked pizza, hamburger, lasagna, etc all with good results. (I also purchased some paper inserts to cover the silicone trays, just not to have to clean the trays.) Recommended. Just make sure to REMOVE the PAPER INSERT below the air fryer tray before using the air fryer! And yes, I have experienced a bit of an "electrical"-type smell after cooking items. It seems to have gotten less with time and did surprise my nose the first time I smelled it.

Exactly. I use silicone baskets in my Ninja dual air fryer. They work great and the silicone baskets just go into the dishwasher. I am really cross with this woman who obviously hasn't trid the silicone baskets or mats because she says she "doesn't know what they are for" which is a pretty silly thing to say. If she's going to do stuff like this she should use everything she mentions so she can give an informed opinion.

@@ellem6050Hi. I learned a few years ago breads and other people foods can hurt birds. They shouldn’t be fed breads, fats, old bird food, nuts (meant for people), pet food, raw meat, potato chips, & honey. I used to save up old dried bread until I realized it could hurt them. I think if you’re feeding buzzards it might be ok. They must have cast iron stomachs. I’ve never heard of a buzzard needing antacid tablets 😂.

I don’t always use parchment paper, butI use the ones with the holes when I’m making something messy like a pork tenderloin. I also use them for things like salmon to help me get the salmon out of the air fryer more easily. I now also sometimes use the parchment without holes if I’m making something with a marinade that I want my food to cook in.

The silicon sheets for cooking are handy if you reheat something in a plate that might scratch the basket. I'd say they are rather useful. The parchment paper can be used in the same way and a pack of them is less expansive and will last a long time if you use like 1 a week.

I agree that the thermometer is essential. Before owning an air fryer, pork chops always turned out so dry and not delicious. But now I take out the chops when they reach around 140-150° and they are tender, juicy and delicious. (I first pat dry, spritz with avocado oil, sprinkle lemon pepper, serve with a simple sour cream & horseradish sauce.)

I disagree on the parchment paper liners... when you air fry lots of batches of meat, that basket ends up very messy and the liners make the clean up so much easier. They also contain a surprising amount of the mess made by certain foods so you hardly ever have to clean the basket in between cooking some foods. I love it.

Yep - ruined my initial basket not thinking and trying to clean a mess -- peeled the coating like steel wool on a teflon surface. Papers catch a lot of the oils - toss em and then wipe with paper towels. Eliminates a vast amount of fats that I don't want in my drain. Soft sponge cleanup.

I definitely appreciate the parchment liners since I cook very small amounts, but sometimes 3-4 different things in a row (Happy Hour at home on the side patio in the sun). Being able to toss the previous parchment helps keep flavors more untainted by the foods I just finished cooking. I also am challenged with the Dawn Powerwash. The scent makes me ill - barf, headache, etc. I need an unscented option.

I do use the papers for things like warming up pizza or something that could crumble when you put it inside or take it out of the airfryer. They would work great for nachos too because you just lift out the whole paper and set it on your plate, then toss it when you are done. Love the papers for some things. I also use the silicone mats over the teflon grate, I do this because it is non stick and easy to clean. I love them because the grate does start to wear and you don't want to eat carcinogens and the silicone mat just keeps your food from sticking to that grate and eating things that are really not meant to eat. Also, I make homemade chicken tenders and they would stick to the bottom of that grate, you don't have to worry about it with the silicone mats. Those are the only two items I don't agree with. The rest, I totally agree!!!

@SkulosGav I have a 5Q one and it's just my husband and I but I wish I had at least a 10Q. We use ours daily and the biggest issue is having to cook in batches because there's just not enough room... ie: one grilled zucchini won't allow anything else to fit. Same when I make him grilled salmon and asparagus... not enough room. Same problem if I make him a burger and fries. I'm really hoping he gets me a bigger one for Xmas.

I use parchment paper sometimes. Mostly with doughy foods. My only complaint with them is that they tend to blow around in the air fryer especially if you're cooking a single item or smaller items that don't cover the entirety of the paper. In those cases, you might need to cut the pepper to a smaller size.

We bought our first microwave in 1978 - paid big bucks (can’t remember how much) but plastic bowls, etc. we’re the thing then - hated them! That first one never died and we may still have it in storage somewhere😄 but the turntable became so popular and the early models didn’t have that so we bought a new unit. Never had a single microwave die - until this fall. The one that the builders put in Fl ally crapped out (house bought in 1999) - AND the electric stove also died last summer - same age. They just dint make anything that lasts more than 5-10 years anymore. Fingers crossed on the refrigerator!!!!!

getting used to an air fry takes time and a bit of exprementing as all air fryers are different it can do more, much more, i even did some bakeing and air drying in mine and the results were nothing short of amazing, better than my oven and better than my top of the range convection cooker. if all you want to go for is just air frying just buy a basic model but if you want to do more go for a ninja or or a cosori. the advice here is golden but i would recomend getting a toaster rack as it does the best toast i have even tasted. and the fact that it uses half the energy is a plus in my book.

I occasionally use the parchment paper for really starchy things but be careful if you do. I made the mistake of accidentally leaving it in my air fryer one time. I don’t know how I did that but I did. I had put something in the air fryer to warm it up and was sitting in the living room and heard a weird sound coming from the kitchen. I went into the kitchen and there was something burning. The parchment paper had blown up to the top and it caught on fire. I caught it early enough to where I didn’t start an actual fire, but that was scary.

I used the Dawn Power wash and, although it works, I wouldn't recommend it. The Teflon coating absorbs the very strong scent that will not rinse away and I could actually smell it while it was cooking. It also has alcohol as a primary ingredient and I believe it will breakdown the non-stick coatings eventually. The regular Dawn liquid works best anyway.

My most used accessory for my air fryer is a metal teflon-coated cake pan which works with my airfryer (20 cm, 7,87 inch). Easy to clean (you only need butter and flour before baking, after a wet paper kitchen towel to clean the pan). My airfryer (looks the same as yours) has 1700 Watt and 20/21cm 7,8/8,2inch inside the baket. I use it for baking bread and cakes. Most of the time I use 160°C/320°F for baking bread, cakes, vegetables/potatoes or meat/chicken. For every cm/0,4inch round about 10 minutes baking time (meat/chicken maybe more time). German cheesecake, french tarte, litte pizzas/flammekuche (french pizza). French tarte (also used for german cheesecake is easy to do. You only need 200-300 gramm flour (for the tarte you use less than for the cheesecake), If you want: sugar (up to 80gramms), 150-200gramms butter, 1-3 egg yolks (the egg white you need later). Knead all (without the eggs white) together, let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes, roll out the dough, put it in your cake pan. Fill in what you want (sweet or savory). Bake cheesecake 15 minutes then core the cake 1cm from the edge all the way around, then bake it again for 60 minutes. Tarte (sweet, with fruits): bake it for 30-40 minutes. While it bakes you whisk the egg white until fluffy (with a pinch of salt and 50-150gramms sugar). Then put the fluffy egg whites on the cake and bake it again for 10-15 minutes (until the fluffy becomes golden). Savory tarte: Leek, onion, bacon: bake it for 15-20 minutes. In this time you mix the eggs white with some salt, pepper, nutmeg spice. Put it on your cake and bake it again for 15-20 minutes (use this time for prepare a salad). I'm sorry, I'm german. Watch youtube for german cheesecake. You only need lowfat quark, sugar, eggs, food starch for the fill in. 160°C/75 minutes. Your family will love you. Good for you: easy to prepare, cheap, healthy. French families bake a tarte/cake every day before start cooking the normal meal. So the cake can bake while the family having lunch/dinner. The cake will be eaten at the end of the meal (while drinking a cup of coffea). You can also bake little cakes like brownies. It's always the same dough and topping, so you can take it to school, work, picknick...

Hi Lisa, I tend to agree with you about not needing the silicone trivets inside the air fryer since you have to clean the tray and the basket anyway. But what do you think about the silicone baskets like the WAVELU Air Fryer Silicone Pot Liner? Oil flows into the grooves, away from food and the bottom basket. It also extends the life of the tray and basket since they have a non-stick coating whose effectiveness decreases significantly over time with frequent washing. Please let everyone know what you think.

Another thing about those paper liners...they catch on fire!!! I put one in and turned on my air fryer to preheat. I started smelling something burning and opened the air fryer. The paper was burning! With nothing on the paper to hold it down, the air blew it up around and it touched something that was too hot. And another time I did have a very small burger patty on the paper, and the air blew it enough that the edge of the paper went up too high and caught fire. Very scary! They should warn of this possibility.

You preheat "without" the liner in place. Once your ready to cook....then put the liner in place and put food on top. Air fryers have a powerful fan to circulate the hot air......that will also "circulate" any light objects in the frier.

I love your channel! I’ll be getting all the things, lol! I think the silicone in-fryer trivets are meant to protect against the Teflon coating. If they don’t interfere with cooking, they might be worth checking out.

I decided against getting an air fryer because of the Teflon. Those silicone mats would make me more willing. I would still like an option to buy a copper ceramic basket instead. Until that's an option, I likely won't jump on the band wagon.

You can make your own refills. Use water, blue dawn dish soap and a small slash of rubbing alcohol. Keep adding dawn until you have the strength you need.

I have just bought a rotisserie air fryer. It has mesh shelves and cooking some things like the fishcakes I did yesterday or chicken legs they get sort of stuck through the mesh. I've ordered some of the silicone liners and I think for some things they will be useful. I totally get it if you're using the type of oven in this video, but for my type I think they'll be OK.

I used an air fryer just like that for about a year. the best way that I found to do it was to split the time in two and flip the food. it's inconvenient, but it helped. Still ended up with bits, but it helped. hopefully the liners work well for you.

When remove the basket from the air fryer, some come with an inner basket that can be removed. I bought parchment/greaseproof paper liners that I put under this part of the basket to catch fat etc when cooking such as bacon or sausages. I find they reduce the amount of cleaning needed.

Unless you use oil in copious amounts, I wouldn't store it in clear glass containers. There's a reason the stores sell them in brown/dark glass. It keeps the olive oil fresher for longer as it can react to light and/or heat. But those spritzers are super classy! Wish they came in dark style.

Three things I need-thermometer, silicon tongs and parchment paper for cleanup. I use aluminum foil for my pots in the oven except when I bake. I’ve been doing that for years -aluminum foil is fairly cheap and it recycles.

I saw another video criticizing parchment because it can get brittle and crumble when you empty the basket. Depends on what and how something was cooked. Are there and concerns about oven safe dishes like that casserole dish damaging the non stick? Maybe the internal silicon trivet would be good protein.

Thanks, for all the great info! I use paper towels to wipe the grease out first and then Dawn dishwasher liquid in my air fryer. I think the spray actually took off the coating in the removable basket piece!!! Frustrating! I will have to order a new one or I might just order the better model, Ninja XL grilled instead! Also, most people don’t think about cleaning the inside of the air fryer under the top plate. It gets very dirty and really need to be cleaned!

I, like practically everyone else, have an air fryer. It is, unlike others, a dual zone air fryer. Meaning I can cook two different items at two different temperatures at the same time. The problem is that I'm also a huge baker of bread. Bread dough, pizza dough (they are different, sue me), any dough that needs to rise... I can't get to rise properly over the last couple years, because there's no way it's going to rise at 69°, in the middle of January. This led me to have to buy another "air fryer", which is actually just a convection oven that goes as low as 85° (a.k.a. proofing oven). This is the one thing that I needed, that an air fryer can't do. The bonus is that I'll have extra space (the dual zone buckets are half the size) to air fry more food. I will, however, look into those spritzers.

I use a silicone air fry mat for the inside, to prevent foods that would normally stick to the air fryer rack and damage the food. Like air fried/air roasted chicken. When on my plain air fry rack the skin gets destroyed while flipping over, with the silicone air fry mat, it doesn't destroy the skin when turning over. The air fry mat also protects your air fry rack if you are using other air fry safe cook ware, like a pyrex bowl or similar. I agree with the parchment paper tho to a point. If you need to create a food sling, then the parchment paper comes in handy..example if you are making nachos in the air fryer..the cheese melting step is where I feel the parchment paper helps when you create a sling layer to put the nacho chips on. Otherwise manipulating the batch of nacho chips at once is difficult.
