I love cold brew green teas. I'm super bad about using water that is too hot for green tea and it always tastes bitter. Cold brew really brings out the sweetness without the horrible bitterness from overly hot water.

Yea indeed, I typically like cold brew green teas as well, and you’re right about cold brew preventing green tea bitterness from higher water temperatures. 🍃🌊

I recently tried cold brew tea & I love it. I just use my fawcets cold water & let it steep on the counter about an hour before I put it in the fridge, & its always great. Not only that, but when every penny counts, not using a stove eye or microwave is also a plus.

Thanks for your video, from a newbie. So, dumb question - when I first steep it, pre-fridge, should boiling water be used, or cold water, or - does it matter??

Cold or room temperature water. Boiling water will begin the chemical process thjs method avoids.

Good.point about the caffeine in cold brew. I've been cold-brewing all summer with puerh and black tea, and also with herbal tea. What's your favorite cold brew tea?

Yes I’ve been cold brewing more this Summer especially with how hot it’s been. I get somewhat disappointed in myself when I don’t have cold brew ready on a hot day when I’ve been outside doing yardwork lol. I don’t think I have a specific favorite but I really like cold brewing black tea, oolong tea, green tea and blends with fruit in them. I haven’t cold brewed a Puerh in a while, I need to do that again soon. Thanks for the reminder. Cheers! 🍃😁

Thanks Avrin. Did not know about the less caffeine. That is good to know because I have not cold brewed many black teas because of the caffeine. Next batch will be a black tea. I’m thinking about Nepal Black or Honey Black. Cheers!

You’re welcome! Glad I could provide some helpful information! 😁 Both of those teas are very nice hot, haven’t had them cold brewed yet but I think that would taste nice. Hope you enjoy it! I’m about to start a cold brew batch of black tea tonight, cheers!

Recently I've been drinking Rishi brand tea. One kind is Sencha. And the other is matcha with konacha.

And just yesterday i tried lions mane powder for the first time. I added some into my cold brew tea. Has a very good woody flavor. I like it. Not sure if I'll see any brain function benefits but its worth a try.

Nice, I’ve had some Rishi tea before and it was good. Been a while since I’ve had some though, need to check them out again.

I’ve read about some of the possible health benefits of lions mane. I haven’t had much of it but its been in a couple tea blends I’ve had before. Adding it to a cold brew is interesting though, glad you liked it!

CBD has really taken off in popularity. I’ve seen a lot of those shops around. I haven’t had it in tea but I see how it could possible benefits as well. Did adding it to the green tea change the flavor a lot?

We grew up in an extremely hot climate and nothing beats strongly brewed, traditional iced tea. No brewing gimmicks needed. From childhood, there were always large glass pitchers of iced tea in the fridge, along with trays of ice cubes in the freezer. If necessary, the contents were easily transferred to portable Thermos bottles. The correct water temperature is very important, regardless of brewing method. I have 2 digital tea makers. One stainless steel, the other, tempered glass. If only stovetop kettles are used, there's a huge difference in taste. Uncontrollable, they ruin expensive, fine teas. Some green teas have more caffeine than black ones. That's why people age 50+ are told to consume green teas and matchas in moderation. I worked with a man in his 60s who drank gallons of green tea weekly. He developed an incurable facial tic.

Yes indeed the correct water temperature is very important. Do you recommend any specific digital tea makers? I think I’ll be in the market for a new one sooner or later. And yea there are some green teas and white teas also that have higher caffeine levels than typical, and can handle higher water temperatures. That’s sad about the man getting a facial tic. Must have done nerve damage since it didn’t retrace with lower caffeine intake. I probably need to watch my caffeine amounts closer sometimes. I have been somewhat though at times. I like ice tea as well but for the past couple years or so I’ve probably had more cold brew tea than iced tea. More hot tea than both though. I really like having a pitcher of good cold brew tea or iced tea in the fridge especially on these hot days.

@@TeaReviewinTwo Anything at Amazon, excluding the ripoff Breville teamaker with a gimmicky mechanical infuser that wrecks the taste of teas. It also makes the pot difficult to clean. I'd never pay $279.00 to $300.00 for it! I bought a beautiful stainless steel digital kettle made by Aicok around 4 years ago and have never had a moment's trouble with it. I also bought Aicok's glass digital teamaker around 2 years ago and it's great too. Basically, it's a cosmetic knockoff of the pricey Breville, minus the pesky mechanical infuser. Both hold 1.7L. Very good-looking, they're around $100.00 each now. However, mine were bought during Amazon flash intro promotions at $29.00 and $45.00, resp. Love both of them.
