Maybe Grandma knew all along what science hasn't proven yet. Get ready for me to spill some tea on hot tea on this week's Wednesday checkup! By the way, this warning is really applicable to all drinks and even soup!

Interestingly, I was always scolded for waiting for my food and drinks to cool down enough. I'm overtly sensitive to high-temp stuff, like people drink my tea and tell me it's "cold", but for me it's "just barely cool enough to drink".

Exactly the same issue. I’ll sit for five minutes with food on my plate whereas my dad insists on having his plate on top of the veg pan (to get it really hot) and will eat things instantly. Interesting but I hate hot drinks - always have - he drinks near-boiling-point coffee all throughout the day.

The China study had a similar issue. It found a higher incidence of esophageal cancer in people who drank more hot tea but only in those who also drank alcohol every day or smoked. It is plausible that drinking hot beverages might raise esophageal cancer risk if combined with smoking or alcohol consumption. But the study did not find that hot tea alone had that effect.

That would clear up a lot. If for instance you're drinking something hot enough to inflame or even injure your esophagus, it's increasing the surface area that gets exposed to carcinogens from other sources. But exposure to heat and cold is itself actually a cancer treatment. Pretty much anything that could nearly kill an average person has a good shot at curing or at least controlling cancer, actually, whether it's getting a severe viral infection, being subjected to a battery of toxic chemicals (chemotherapy) or radiation (radiation therapy), or going between bathing in hot springs and freezing water, the adage "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger" is very true when it comes to dealing with cancer.

Well, not a problem here. I have recently started using a selfheating mug (best purchase ever, no more cold tea ) and you can choose your ideal drinking temperature. I played around with it a bit and found that my ideal drinking teperature is 56C or a 132 F, so I'm good^^

Hey mike, late viewer here. A benefit I experienced from drinking hot tea is when my stomach feels full from drinking sparkling water or soda or whatever, the hot tea kinda cures it. I can't burp hence why my stomach can feel full from those sparkling stuff. I'm not sure how hot I drink my tea or chocolate milk but I know it's not hot enough to burn my tongue. Hope this helps :)

In Sicily it is a very popular custom to drink hot beverages as such to cure some types of illnesses and these methods actually work. We even use mint, setwall, fennel and liquorice in our infusions. I do this partly for the mere comfort of drinking it after it has cooled but also because the nutrients and other factors are increased, so I am told. They could be smokers, drinkers, second hand smoke, eating badly...who knows but definitely don't add fuel to flame. I was scolded on my body by hot water and it left a chunk of a scar....imagine the throat yikessss

Please do more videos about interesting new studies! Where you break them down and analyze the study and the results in an understandable way. Cos' let's be honest - Many people refer to a study that they didn't investigate at all, and even take them part of their daily life. And just saw a headline.

I tried diet soda. Aspartame me me really sick. After a few days, I got splitting head ache, vision issues, dizziness, etc. So I dropped the "let's drink diet soda" idea immediately. Then I got better the very next day. :)

The original study (linked in the description) was actually in Celcius (obviously, since it's not American). No idea why he let the milliliters be, but converted the temperatures without stating the original... Weird lol

I just have a question: who’s drinking coffee or tea that’s burning hot? The rough texture on your tongue from sipping a hot drink should be enough to tell you you shouldn’t be drinking it so hot 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

I was told that green tea should never be brewed at a temperature higher than 140° because hotter than that would destroy the ingredients beneficial to health. Also, buy from a company that inspects the tea plantations from which they purchase their tea leaves. Tea trees are one of the crops most heavily sprayed with pesticides around the world.

Those are straightforward from a research perspective, my dad's best friend's dad passed away from stomach cancer bc of the excessive hot foods that the guy was eating daily. May the guy rest in peace and may God comfort the guy's whole family.
