For the past many years, every year, every bike is 20-30 Whats faster, by this point bikes should be going 120km/h with 100W... Most of those numbers manufacturers say are just BS

The real key to all this is, which aero bike climbs the best? We know that they are all good on the flats, but which one stands out on the climbs? Most riders are going to go uphill at some point (and some much more than others) and the aero bike that stands out as the best climber is the one I would be most interest in.

I would say the scott with their new aero wheels 67mm at less than 1300gr, is a good contender for best climber, but would be a better calculater to do so the same wheels, tyres and grupo against frame too frame
@jeskli11

That would really depend on where you're riding. If for example in the Alps with long steep climbs, then probably the overall lightest one (from this video most likely the Tarmac SL8). If somewhere with typical incline of 5%, where you're still going around 20kph, the most aero one on flat would be likely the fastest up that slope as well.

Don't recall the video but they put the SL8 vs the Trek Madone at equal power on the same climb (Trek weighed more) and the Trek was faster.

The only real but absolut stupid downside is the fact, that you cannot order different cockpit dimensions, which tbh, is a shame when talking highend race bikes. That‘s why I cannot buy an Aeroad, and I‘m abt 200 km from their HQ only 😢

This video omitted the Cannondale System Six and the Canyon Aeroad but included the SL8? The SL8 is not an aero bike and the Tour mag tests proved it. If you're including all round bikes you should have also mentioned the Cannondale Supersix Evo which tested a little bit faster than the SL8 (but it's still not an aero bike).

@@ezraarcena1928 This could take a while. Lol! Aero bikes are suppose to be kind of heavy, and not very good climbers. I have two AR’s. The previous model AR1, mechanical, with rim brakes. All Dura-Ace 9000, and Zipp 404’s. It is very fast of course. I have not had it weighed, but it is very light for an aero bike. I estimate it to be just under 17 pounds. It climbs unbelievable well. And being 220 lbs, I should know. lol! Recently picked up the latest AR model. The AR Advanced DI2 Ultegra. Didn’t like the stock wheels, so put some Reynolds ARX 58’s on it. It is probably two pounds heavier, due to all the new hardware. Felt claims it to be stiffer, more aero, and faster. All modest gains from my other model. Although heavier, it is everything they say it is. Have only road it a few times so far. The slightly more stiffer, and faster are evident. Since it is so stiff, zero flex, every ounce of power goes straight to the BB, and straight to the pavement! So the result is with the same amount of effort, on average it’s 1.5-2 mph faster than the previous model. And thanks to all that, it negates the extra weight going up the hill as well. It’s faster straight line, but it climbs equally as well, thanks to its stiffness, and efficiency.🤙😜🚴🏻🚴🏻

In a straight line,with the same effort, it is about 1.5-2 mph faster!👊😎🚴🏻

@@roadcyclist1 How do you know? How do you rule out confirmation bias? Even if you're doing exactly the same route on different bikes, you'd need to have a very large sample size to find a statistically meanngful difference, given all of the other variables at play (wind direction, weather, clothing, traffic etc). And that's assuming you have all of the the bikes and your bike position set up exactly the same. Unless they really are massively faster, which is pretty much impossible from what we know about the various contributions towards total drag in cycling.

Probably the least aero here and many reviewers describe its ride as harsh. The lightest and it is measurable as well as on the more (most?) expenisve side of bikes, with the best marketing. I seen a test where a Trek Madone, with one groupset lower, was faster in even in uphill! Both missed its current front end, the tarmac had the old, and the madone had a 2 piece set up with tons of round spacers below the stem.

I love specialized but I have to admit the SL8 tarmac has a slightly harsh ride and the looks are down graded to me..I gave it up for the new 2023/24 trek madone SLR..I find the trek madone faster, holds speed better and is alot more comfortable than the SL8..my SL8 tarmac rode similar to my older 2022 SL7 s-works tarmac..honestly I think the SL7 looks alot better than the SL8..im sorry but that SL8 is riding on name nowadays..its like they went backwards this year..I have no real loyalty to these brands I just buy what works for me..

@Justme-sq2vw exactly 💯 😅...I owned both 2023 SL8 sworks tarmac and the 2023/24 trek madone slr gen7..i find the Madone better all around to me...its slightly heavier(16.6lbs) but it's faster, holds speeds better and alot more comfortable for longer rides..the SL8 seems like a cash grab to me..they claim its less harsh in the rear than the SL7 but after only 40miles the bike would beat me up where as I can ride the Madone for hours..the SL8 is quick but the Madone is faster..

Since a few years the formular seems to be ugly = fast = expensive. The Cervelo and Scott in particular are ugly enough to make one physically sick. And all of them are full of "aero" solutions that render bikes almost unserviceable, not to mention proprietary parts that take weeks to deliver even with no global pandemic around. Why can't a bike that costs as much as a piece of art be as pleasant to look at as a piece of art?
