Ebay belongs on both sides of that list in my opinion. I've gotten so many just outright great deals on there over the years. Nice meeting you at the show today. Looking forward to your next video... wanna hear what the no photos guy had to say and what the story was on all the weird grading service slabs.

👌 couldn’t agree more. For me personally APMEX has been super reliable and have a wide selection for great prices. But I HATE Littleton coin company with a BURNING passion. I’ve heard from many people that they sell pre-cleaned coins. Gives me the heebie jeebies

Littleton also charges a lot more than APMEX, and they already charge above normal retail value. The prices on there genuinely shock me when I see them.

speaking the truth at 7:40 A year or so ago I tried to find some nearby shops after moving: First of them was closed (despite their posted hours) and when I called the dude on the phone said he doesn't keep an inventory and only is open by appointment, basically it wasn't even a shop. It was just his work office and he finds expensive coins for people at a fee, which sounded like a total scam unless he's hunting actual rarities. Second one I walked in and their display cases were empty, guy said if I wanted he could get some trays out of the back but they were all just junk morgans and it wasnt his shop, said the owner was out for the day. Felt really pointless to even have a shop

I mostly buy on flea markets, coin shows and Ebay and have had a great outcome. I always keep my eye pealed on IG and have had a couple great finds on pawn shops. Its best to gain some knowledge first and hopefully that will reduce your chances of being scammed. Good video and advice!
@WildWestCoins

Thank you! Having some knowledge is huge at flea markets. If you don’t mind me asking, what are some of your best flea market scores? And also, what is your pawn shop strategy? Do you just go to a bunch of different ones and ask for old coins or do you frequent a particular store?

Thanks for the video, especially liked the Reddit tips. Question - at coin shows, do you tend to get better deals at the beginning or end of a coin show?
@WildWestCoins
@WildWestCoins Жыл бұрын
I haven’t experimented enough to say for certain, but I would suspect you get better deals towards the end. In my experience, I have had good luck when I ask about a coin, tell the dealer I’ll think about it, and then come back later asking for a better price. They’re usually willing to give you a better price at that point, so I would say end of show has better deals, but less inventory at the end

eBay has absolutely been the best way for me collect, mostly because the nearest coin shop to me is 50 miles away and I ain't about to drive that far whenever I want to buy a coin. So long as you read reviews of sellers eBay is just as safe as any coin shop imo.

When i first started stacking 4 years ago i bought 4 ASE from one of those tv home shopping channels. I knew it was overpriced but i really wanted the labels on them. Probably a stupid reason to buy them but I was only a month or two into stacking. I actually still love them for the reason i bought them so I'm not unhappy about it in the least bit. Other than those, buying from those channels are a big no thank you.

The antique mall near me only has one dealer selling coins and he’s actually a local coin dealer. His prices aren’t terribly overpriced but yes they are higher due to the fees the main business puts on them. Flee markets I’ve found either nothing but fakes or very overpriced coins. This past weekend a guy was selling 90% halves for 30x face. When I questioned him the guy insisted he couldn’t lower the price because it’s 90% silver even though every coin shop in my area is selling at 20x or lower. I’ve got some great deals from eBay, but I’ve also been ripped off by scammers. Online bullion dealers have been great as long as I avoid APMEX and shop around, but generally I try to use my local shop which is actually lower on the junk silver than even the online stores, and he always is flush with inventory and great prices

I watch a TON of the TV Coin " shows" because I like to learn and love coins! "Buyer Beware"!! The Coin Fault has got some of the most overpriced garbage that I've ever seen on ANY network. Every great once in awhile, they'll have kind of a good deal, but usually their coins sell for double/triple (even more) what you can find them on places like eBay! Trust me, I watch a TON of these channels (because my love of coins).

Another absolutely HORRIBLE place to buy coins is at the local auction. It's INSANE what common date/raw coins sell for at auction!! Most of these buyers are uneducated on coins and tend to get into bidding wars with somebody else! Auctions are a great place to sell your coins, and not to buy coins

Wouldn't it be the ethical thing to do to let the seller know he made a mistake pricing a date? To say that you can get a key date for $10 shows your core morals. Or lack thereof. Yes antique malls overprice stuff for tourists and idiots. But be honest and don't try to steal from someone who made a mistake. That's called taking advantage and knowingly doing it speaks volumes to who you are. Think before you speak and show who you are.
