There is 2 possible reasons why everyone was stand around, an not calling the cops: No1- would you break into someone elses bike in broad daylight, while people are walking past? No2: People could see someone is making a video( you'd assume its the pretend thiefs friend)

you can get axle and saddle locks. these are lock that you replace the quick release function with an axle that can be locked instead. They are expensive though. Any old fashioned d lock would be good. I am looking into getting alarms to put on my bikes that double as basic cycling computers. So there is a lot of things you can do. Also, hiding some form of GPS inside your bike can be helpful too.

this might be the dumbest expectations i've ever heard. yes, security in general can be based on repetition and time, but chances are if someone wants a bike lock, they're riding regularly, ie, to work. ie, the same place everyday, at the same time(s). so that's a difficult thing to muster for the vast majority of people looking for a bike lock or security. the number one way to not get your bike stolen is to have a cheap bike, and an expensive, well placed lock or two. no professional thief will bother with an expensive lock on a cheap non-resellable bike. and no random-person thief will bother with your expensive lock, used properly. (though they may take your seat, handlebars, or wheels if you don't run your fancy lock through them). nobody likes this solution however, because it doesn't encourage people to buy fancy and grossly expensive bikes, thus boosting our ego's and confidence.

Never get a combo lock. You can unlock them with out even cutting them. You pull on the lock and turn the number gear until it stops then on to the next number gear until the lock comes off. Your best bet is getting a Key U lock AND a Cable lock. The U lock for the frame and the wire lock for the wheels. But for the most part, if you can, Bring your bike inside with you and do not leave it outside.

They time how long it takes to defeat each lock with a bolt cutter and angle grinder with various blades. Some locks that are impervious to bolt cutters also take angle grinders a full 10 minutes to cut, and that's just cutting time, not including the time they needed to switch batteries and change blades on the angle grinder. 😆🤣🤣. It taught me that if I want to leave my bike to run into the grocery store for eggs and milk, I probably have time.

I know it can be a hassel ,but just adding extra rubber on the U lock (any) and you can be sure the thief Will pick another bike, like this (adding extra circumference to the angle , I bought mine at the dollar store) and the fix worked because I have leave my bikes (i have 2) in different places and it's being about a couple of months , I mounted a camera at the shop across from the bike rack ( i asked the owner, she said it was okay) i will post my video soon, have a great weekend.
