This is list is absurd. I'm not a massive Hanyu fan but his quads are clearly the best. Most difficult entries, perfect air position and gorgeous landings - absolutely effortless.
@pacificoast824 жыл бұрын
This list isn’t absurd. With most of the skaters you’re looking at quads from the 80s and 90s. I don’t see why you would even try to compare. The original quads were done with the old take off, which also allowed for great height and ice coverage. Hanyu likely does do the prettiest quad today, as unlike most of his competitors, he also gets nice air time and ice coverage. Most today go straight up and rotate in place, landing almost where they took off, which is ugly.

Yuzuru #1 plain and simple while I'd say Goebel would be a distant second. Yuzuru makes it look so simple and he is super elegant and gorgeous. His choreography and artistry is on par. While Goebel was a good jumper, his artistry sucked and Plushenko's landings were heavy and they looked sloppy.

Plush and Yuzu should be 1 and 2, I'm fine with either order. But I'd have Yuzu first since he has performed 3 types in competition and Plushenko only did the toe, though it was pretty frickin' glorious. That 4/3/2 was everything!!
@AsirSCicek7 жыл бұрын
danibellerika im serious. he did quad sal 3t in 1999 or 2000 i dont remember the date well but his quad sal s better than toe s .He is not using that because in old scoring system you dont need more quads to take 6.0 marks thats all. My english is bad so i hope you can understand
@danibellerika7 жыл бұрын
If your English is bad you should lay off the hate speech and not tell people to kill themselves or that they don't know what they're talking about. I've been watching skating since 2001 so I know a few things. The sal was not Plushenko's best jump at all. Heck, he doubled a planned TRIPLE in Torino. Apparently he only did the quad sal a couple of times. It was so infrequent I actually forgot about it. Plushenko's 4/3/2 is what made me pay attention to skating and he was my favorite guy at the time.

danibellerika do twenty surgery s and try to skate my friend :) .I dont think you watching figure skating since 2001.You just watching some old videos now ;) Anyway past is past i must say that one think im not happy that know many skaters plan 4 quads .In past people mixed balle and skating then they study the jumps.Now everyone just try for to more and more tech ablity.exp : nathan chen.But i love one skater who really understand that art mixed the balletic style with his. style and skate with dignity.he is yuzuru.Im glad to he is leading the new genaration of figure skating.I hope the new ones comes after this generation follow the yuzuru s ,plushenko s and kulik s. way to skate
@danibellerika7 жыл бұрын
The amount of Plushenko's surgeries has nothing to do with the sal not being a good jump for him. And you can look up my account on FSU and see how old my account from there is to see I have indeed been a skating fan for a long long time. What reason would I have to lie about that? Next you'll say I wasn't in Helsinki even though I uploaded dozens of videos. Yes, Yuzuru Hanyu is the best figure skater I've ever seen because he can balance artistry with the best jumps I've ever seen. I am so lucky I got to see him skate live and break his world record again. I'll never forget it.

How we rate skaters can be subjective, but it's interesting to see quads by top skaters side by side. There are indeed different styles - how they prepare the jump, how the jumps are weaved into the choreography, how the landing knee is used, how rigid or relaxed the upper body looks before and after the jump, arm placement, the distance the jump travels, the flow of the jump trajectory, the height of the jump, etc.

Other than the "placement" in this top five quad "skaters" totally debatable, I have always found it interesting that Plushenko's quads had the axis progressively more tilted backward (with respect to the blades, not the skating direction) in the later revolutions but Plush somehow made them work and landed them clean, in the same way Tonya Harding's successful 3A attempts had progressively tilted axis but somehow balanced upon landing.
@walover1657 жыл бұрын

I agree about Kulik only ever hitting 2 quads in competition. He is a flawless technician for sure though. 5 is not really enough to include everybody. Not saying I can do better, but there could definitely have been somebody else in his slot.

@paolocastellano48487 жыл бұрын
Radu, are you referring to me? Just watch Yagudin's position in the air...... His right(standing leg) leg is bent in the air. That is supposed to be straight for the smallest axis in the rotational position. I agree he is great but if you compare Yagudin's air position to Kulik or Plushenko it leaves quite a bit to be desired. Are you a skater, a coach with considerable technical expertise or just a Yagudin fanboy?
@walover1657 жыл бұрын
Kulik was one of the greatest pure technicians of all time. Additionally, he competed in an era where quads were NOT the norm and very rare. When he retired, quads were only just starting to become more common (thanks largely to the rivalry between his younger compatriots). Kulik landing "only" two clean quads is not something to insult him for, it's something to praise him for because he did it in a time when a quad was beyond difficult. And he was and always will be the first ever Olympic Champion to win his title with one. After him, every Olympic Champion would do so until Lysacek.
@EEDiazL7 жыл бұрын
Although not an Olympic Gold medalist, before there was Ilya Kulik, there was Elvis Stojko!!!!! Kulik was lucky to land one at the Olympics. Stojko had been landing them since 1994. Who did the first quad in combination? Elvis Stojko!

Is the order random? Because if it is, fine. But if it isn't, you have just done the four who aren't Hanyu a great disservice, my friend. It's like looking at the human evolution chart the other way around. The difference is plain as day to even those who don't know fs. Might as well not have put Hanyu in there at all if you want a closer comparison for the other four. Removing Hanyu from the equation altogether, and not factoring in anybody else who aren't in the top 4 listed here, I'd give Chan the top spot if we're going by order of jump quality and not type and difficulty of jump, because his blends into the choreography the nicest out of the 4, and therefore, the most evolved. Note: This was uploaded 2 years ago, before there were 4Los in play. Probably before Hanyu was breaking records and fs in general with Chopin and SEIMEI. Which probably explains the lack of mention of Jin and his jaw-dropping 4Lz. Some here don't seem to realize this...
