Love that ending message. I'm not a full time contractor, but I do get some jobs from time to time. I have an old Made in the USA Black and Decker reciprocating saw and an old Sears craftsman jig saw that still get the job done. Just because it's not the latest and greatest doesn't mean they dont have their place. I personally love old tools. They're still kicking and I've got them all for ridiculously low prices.

I have since moved up to the 20 v desalt line. But when I bought my home I bought a set of 12 v tools. I gutted and remodeled the bathroom. Refreshed the 1960’s basement, finished the 2 car garage with 12’ ceilings with numerous heavy duty wooden shelves on every wall, installed many new windows, built a wrap around porch approx 1200 square ft, and countless small projects, all with those tools. It’s amazing what the 12v tools can do. And with all that I never had to replace a battery. I used the same two that came with the kit for everything. And rarely did they die completely during a project.

I am a Master Electrician and have been in the trades for more than 40 years. I started in the trades using single speed non reversing drills and have seen the evolution of power tools that now have sophisticated electronics. I agree that the best tools are the ones that get the job done and the the ones that you feel most confident using. I also agree that fancy tools are no substitute for skill, craftsmanship, and taking pride in your work. My favorite cordless impact driver is also my first, a brushed Milwaukee 18 volt . It feels more solidly built than my newer Milwaukee Fuel and Makita brushless models, and still performs well. Like me, it has a long history and is now reserved for my own projects.

My DeWalt DCF886 has been going strong since 2014 with daily full time use. From 3" deckmates to 6" lags, it's done it all. I've also been really impressed with my bossman's Makita XTD14Z, it's got a little more torque and speed but we'll see if it can stand the test of time like my DW has

I guess I can relate to that.... I have almost every dewalt impact from my beat to hell dcf885 brushed 1/4in that I bought USED several years ago... It got me so hooked I got the 887 and 890 too, and wound up with one of their atomic hammer drills too in a package deal... Which I didn't even need for work (automotive) but it's awesome around the house, same with the 885 and 887 and when you really need some ass I have the 884 and 899 impacts as well... As well as some 6ah and 5ah XR batteries.... But out of all of it. I tend to love their brushed stuff.... It's so simple. I have a 20v max sawzaw I use occasionally and it always works amazing, but I buy good blades. I see no need to upgrade to the compact XR... Aside from portability. I also recently ordered a 2nd gen 20v weed eater (the first brushless one) because I found it cheap on EBay and I've got so many big XR batteries now that it's literally cheaper than owning a gas trimmer.... I'm hooked on this 20v line... I hope they keep expanding it. With more automotive focus would be nice, some more homeowner aimed stuff would be nice too. I'm not a contractor, an atomic hammer drill works fine for me, I'd like to see that budget line expanding....
@CadillacZachOffical

But out of all of it... I still won't get rid of the old 885, she's the original. I'm debating ordering a new clamshell and rebuild kit.... Or just seeing how long she keeps going....? Honestly I think she'll outlive the 887... It's trigger acts .... Glitchy in low sometimes.... Although It does run better now that I've taken it apart, cleaned it up and anvil swapped it with my 890 to make a 3spd 3/8 impact, and pretty much a 787...???

I have that exact impact that you showed at the end and coworkers give me shit about it being old but you’re right it gets the job done and it’s more durable than any modern drills I’ve seen it’s been dropped from various highs in water and mud and it still kicks ass. This video makes me even more proud of my impact

I’ll keep my 5 impacts. 1. Bosch PS42 my favorite 2. Bosch PS41 most money made with this (I can’t begin to tell you how many TVs I’ve hung with this) 3. Hilti SID 2-A tool most likely to be found in my hand on a commercial job site. Also my kids favorite when helping the old man build something. The only reason why I have 18 V impacts is when I am using other 18 V tools and only want to have one battery platform on me. 4. Bosch IDH182 for when I’m also running my rotary hammer, portable bandsaw and or circular saw Normally in commercial locations 5. DeWalt DCF888 for when I am running my DCD 996. Almost exclusively used on ruff-ins in wooden construction.

@gs300ondub If you’re watching this channel and you’ve ever believed that it’s anything but Vince’s opinion I’m confused, did you not see his video on stackable tool storage where he raved about the packout system? We tune in because we like the community, tools and Vince’s I would be friends with, and beers with charisma.

Milwaukee brushless fuel is powerful I give it that. My coworkers brushless outshines my brushed any day. But my brushed got replaced after 4 years of everyday service burned out. New impact driver still brushed but I love it has a 2 speed for slower impacting without breaking the delicate screws. But home personally I have m12 impact. Hes right. They are light weight and right there without the bulkiness. I build my porch deck with the m12 impact driving 3 inch deck mate screws lol. Had the power close to my 18v ryobi. My ryobi 18v impact had power more then the m12 for sure but I like both

I saw an original dewalt plain impact fall 40 ft get picked up and be just as it was. I've had dewalt screwguns used for 20 years. If I had all to do again I'd go with rigid. Lifetime guarantee. Forget dewalt, makita, and dang sure Milwaukee

Right in man. I use a little 12v dewalt brushed MOST of the time and this weekend and bough....yet another makita xdt11 single speed impact being number 3 ive owned not because they wear out, bcuz they DONT! A better chance at being stolen before that and ill admit, Im stupid alotta times. I set it on the ladder! Suuh mack! Ext chord yanks it off hip. Mmm hmm. Smak. And....Ill set on the bumper...yep. Smack. Backa the truck. Rainstorm! Hell ive left it on the bumper i a rain storm. Bring it on battery bunny! Still going. When youve done it this long u find out you dont have to take the vette out everyday you just take whats definitely hone get you there and bring ya bak home.

Well said Vince! We always have our debates on who is the better tool brand, but in the end, it’s what gets the job done! #JustSayin

My father works with Milwaukee and yeah they are great but not as good as HILTI. A bit pricier but so much power even from the 14v If you're not careful fastening bolts you'll break the head off Also very reliable and comfortable.

Yea that is true. What does your father do if I may ask? I'm a pipe fitter and I get away with m12 Milwaukee in many task but at times I have to change to m18.

My father is a carpenter and I'm an air conditioning technician and installer I drive bolts into concrete and the hilti tools are perfect for what I do My personal (around the house) power tools are makita, they are professional enough so that I dont get frustrated using them but not as pricey as hilti (what my company provides) Ps. Thankfully my company provides the most professional tools and then when use my cheaper tools on personal stuff I get frustrated.

Also just by the way Some of my hilti tools are 5 years ish old and I find that they are much more reliable then the new ones being that hilti doesnt manufacture in Germany anymore..

This is good for me! Just jumped ship from Makita to Milwaukee this week, well just the combi drill at the moment. Was having to buy a new combi drill every year with my Makita as the chuck kept getting stuck and kept getting metal flex getting spat out the back. Soooo let’s see how the gem 3 goes and if good will be getting the impact

My favorite cordless tools are a toss up between my 2763 Milwaukee 1/2” impact, or my 2554 Milwaukee 3/8” stubby. 90% of what I work on I grab the stubby and it rips stuff apart at 100ftlbs or more. But for when that just isn’t enough you can grab the big dog 1/2” impact and it’ll either come loose or break lol
