I have a Northern blue tongue skink that I absolutely adore. She is the best. I almost got a monkey tailed skink but decided to go with a leachianus gecko instead because from research that I did monkey tailed skinks should live in at least a pair. I didn't want to deal with possible fighting within the pair then have to separate and have two enclosures next to each other and making sure they don't get depressed/lonely. I love my leachie though. He is the cutest little guy 😍

I can't wait to have space for a blue tongue!! They are amazing. But side note I've got a video idea. Top 5 snakes for tub/bin setups. (More of an individual tub setup rather than in a rack system). Or furthermore, snakes that would thrive (or at least do better) in a tub compared to aquarium because of humidity requirements, sense of security you don't always get with glass, etc... Another factor is also that the snake can fit comfortably in bins made in sizes that are widely available Just an idea that popped into my head after planning on how I'm going to sneak my hognose into my college dorm this fall haha. Love what you do keep it up

I just need to add this bit of information because I've had to do this with multiple people recently promoting PTS to their audience who don't know any better. I would not recommend PTS for majority of keepers. There is not much in terms of care info out there for them and what there is is actually a lot harder to find. This species is commonly underheated and fed the wrong diet. This leads people to believe they are friendly and easy to care for pets similar to a bts. As someone who personally owned PTS no matter how much time spent with them they continued to be flighty and skittish animals, particularly nippy and would musk when handled, all because I kept them at the proper temps. When kept at the common misconception of "room temp" they were calm and mellow. I also made sure to give them their proper diet of 80% snail protein (something most people can't do or meet). I fell victim to a lot of misinformation thinking that they'd be an amazing pet just like a bluey but after doing more research and owning them for a couple years I realized they were not what I had expected and rehomed them. So for anyone considering PTS the only place for proper research is forums and scholar articles on wild specimens. You may get lucky with a docile one but a proper heated and fed pts will most likely always be a more flighty skink and not the best for handling. I'd recommend bts or fire skinks instead, or even monkey tails if you don't mind sharp nails or bad attitudes

Hold up, HOLD UP. Monkey tailed skinks are herbivores?? I’ve always wanted a lizard of some kind, but they all eat bugs, which I just cannot deal with, and there’s no way I’m ever getting an iguana, (way too big, and too advanced to start out lizard care with) so the knowledge that there is another lizard out there thats an herbivore, especially one as cool as the monkey tailed skink makes me really happy! @@porfolio1991 yeah, those are amazing. It's unfortunate that a lot of the cool skinks aren't consistently captive bred yet.

@@shleed ikr I have been looking for a sand fish skink for a year and a I can’t find one so now I’m getting a fire skink. Side note the best skink is the peters skink it’s more friendly than blue things and it’s small but it’s very rare
